Did something change in Atlas ? On my fast machine (Core i7, 16 Gb RAM),
going fro 6.4beta4 to 6.4beta6, I'm still on Atlas compilation about 10
hours after 'export MAKE=make -j8 ; time make... This never happened on
this machine.

Can't build it on Debian testing : PARI fails to build on a (copy of) a
(functional) Sage tree after distclean. See the attached log. This happens

flint François doesn't like. It'll have to wait a bit (ReaLife NMI...).

I've seen analogous messages in about two out of three makes. The cuse is,
as always "make doc-clean && make", which eats more and more time, now that
3D plots adorn our online help...

On Debian testing running on Core i3+8 GB Ram (MAKE="make -j4"), passes
ptestlong with no failures whatsoever.

I can confirm that for me, thje problem is indeed caused by tle language
setting :
LANG=c sage -t --long src/sage/homology/simplicial_complex.py
passes without failures.
