I don't think its a bug in icecast. I think its a change in icecast that
hasn't propagated to all the source clients found in the wild. Some of
these things haven't been updated in years. LS is actively developed, and
behaves as it should. The crusty crop of source-clients cause the same

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, I had considered it. I just happen to be even less-capable with

How about another, simpler approach:
How can I precede every triggering of playlist(random,/path

freak-out when their expectations aren't met. I'd like to mitigate
genre-shock with a generic intro like Local talent, on the hour...

Am I correct? You want to randomly play anything from 'fiftypoundtalk' and
'radioclashtalk'.
This should be accomplished by doing:
alltalk = playlist(mode=random,reload=3600,/home/shows/featuredshows)
LS will look recursively into those directories for content to play. If

This is indeed the best solution I can think of right now. icecast relays
are designed to be backup streams, I believe, so they seem like the
appropriate approach to me
Just a guess, but if you used a directory or songs instead of a playlist,
source.skip will behave as expected. I believe it skips the entire source,
and when reading from a directory, the current song is considered the whole
of the source. whereas a playlist is considered the whole of the source
