Alan,
with all respect: Why do you think you are in a position
to propose anything if you use such aggressive and abusive language?
Your tone hinders any community building, I guess.

Hi!
coming back to chess after some break I'm impressed by the progress scid has
made!
Congratulations to the developer(s)!
Yesterday I compiled scid-4.0 from source and most of the things seem to work.
Nevertheless the included phalanx doesn't start.

Hi,
which spec file did you use?
That on from
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:dsteuer/openSUSE_10.3 ?
It's suspicious, that make in the engines' directory gives "nothing to
be done". Normally the engines must be compiled. Did you start from a
clean src package?

Ok, there is a first package for scid 3.6.20.
Download the package for your distribution under
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/dsteuer
You can use the search facilities on
http://software.opensuse.org/search , too.
Crafty only compiles for x86 (it's in the makefile).
I may try
Hi,
is there any interest in a native OpenSuSE package?
I maintain a few in OpenSuSe's build service and could try
to package an uptodate scid.

Hi Pascal,
it´s a pity that no friendly resolution of a useless conflict is possible.
That obviously can´t be helped for the moment. Sometimes minds just don´t fit,
even bright ones.
But it will be hard to prevent _anybody_ from using your code if you stick to
GPL. And if you go away from GPL
Jerry, thx for the well thought comments.

That´s an important point. ChessDB follows the "intentions" (in my view at
least) of scid
