I've always considered punk and hip hop to be very similar. The both
involve music that inspires a whole movement and lifestyle. They are both (if
they are thoughtful and meaningful) very political and smart. Both movements
also seek to make changes in society,

this is my first post, other than my hello thing. well, anyway, i have to
disagree with one of the things said. i am not a huge fan of rap.hip-hop,
but some of it does have some good thoughts and ideas. for one example, look
at arrested development. i dont know much about them at all, but
(sunny day real estate.) Personally I think it's all just music(sunny day
real estate.) what difference does it make what you call it(sunny day real
estate.) as long as it's good. Although I think it's funny because(sunny day
real estate.) I remember when emo was a bad word.(sunny day real
ya know, the promise ring are a pop band, straight up, like superchunk
this whole "emo" tag is just thrown out at any band now.
i had the chance to talk with jim adkins [jimmy eat world] when j.e.w.
played at u. of sweanee last week and here is what he said about the emo
tag, quote unquote.
