Basically colloidal silver is most stable at a pH of 7. If you increase or decrease the pH, it becomes less stable, and at some point aggregation will take place. Aloe Vera tends to be rather acidic, so neutralizing it makes it last longer. I really don't have any experience with emulsions

I have come across an article once that Arm and Hammer baking soda is from Trona Mine.  This baking soda is processed from soda ash from Trona  ore (used for making glass also, fiberglass, etc.).   I don'at know which Trona mine AH sources their soda ash.   Not all Trona mines are good though.
