Lilo counts ram in using 1024, so 128MB is correct.

sndconfig detects and configures a module for sound
"amd7930", this module loads ok
mixers seem to work fine, aumix, gmix, xmixer etc.
esound always fails to find a good sound mode

Having missed the first email of this thread, (so i dont
know whats going on) I have a working adaptec 2100s raid
(on a dual p3 800). Needless to say install was boot strapped
on but now the drivers are in place everything is fine.
Anyway yeah, so i may be able to help.
But as far as RAID setup
USB modems are also a good option these days.
Esp. considering the usb backport is included
in the latest kernels, (not that patching is hard)

Setuid is the tidiest way i think
su is good for one off stuff and it would
also be a good way to ru nthings if you needed to
run a program as several different users

Im running a nice dual p3 800 (gig ram, hardware raid..)
and it persists in trying to load the aic7xxx.0 module,
even now i have the raid driver inbuilt it still attempts
to load...

linux will then run bash and youll have to remount the root fs rw, then
you can fix things.
