Mike,
There is a great deal of difference between scale and competition style
thermal models. If you study the 2 types you will soon see that there is a
big difference in proportions. Where the spans are similar you will notice
that the aspect ratio is almost double on the scale ship. With the

Hey Guys,
Just wanted to give you a heads-up on a new toy that Tom Copp has in his
inventory at F3X.com. I just took delivery on a Pike Plus Lite. I was a
little surprised when Tom told me the Samba company was building me a Pike
Plus lite, and if I didn't want it , I didn't have to buy it. OK.
Randy,
I agree that there were some questionable conditions concerning Sam Girardi's
lost "HERA". The bottom line is that it is a great smooth flying airplane. No
matter how well you build a tool it will have it's limitations. I don't think
the demise of Sam's Hera requires any further investig
Jim,
In F3J the competitor can enter 3 models and change them,or combine them, as
he choses even in the same round. LJ

Sam,
That is a sad story, F3B can be tough on equipment especially with howling
wind and Hi-test line. In all fairness to the Hera it is a great airplane but
is designed for F3J, that is why it weighs 10 ounces less than an F3B Cobra.
That weight has to come out from somewhere. By the way, You

This is far from a biggie.I noticed that the bottom of my fuse was cracked
under the stab I also noticed that this crack allowed the stab some movement.

Mike,
I have had no problems with the elevator system at all. I did replace the
pushrods with Carbon rods. I would recommend putting some cloth on the inside
of the fuselage on the bottom skin beneath the stab mount. Stock, it is glued
with a slurry that will crack with time. Be careful w

For you guys flying the Thornburg contest at Phoenix I have just finished the
mold for the SunBird. The fuselage fits Ray's kit and is faithful to the
Model Builder plans with the exception that the nose is stretched 1.2 inches.
If you haven't built your Sunbird kit you can get a fuselage from
Jack.
As a 2time Nats CD for RES how do you feel about elevator to spoiler

I am not interested in starting a servo war. Karlton has done a great job for
me replacing damaged Mcvs, 2, to be exact. What I am talking about is testing
the servo by firing it up and torqueing the output arm with your fingers. I
have just done this test with 2 MpX , 1 Volz, and one used Air
The Hera is a high quality fine flying model. The only downside to it, is
that it is hard to come by. I am hoping that the manufactures will make more
available to the American market. The only thing holding the Hera back is the
long waiting time to receive it. Larry Jolly

You could also add a little weight to the nose to move the Center of Gravity
forward. This will slow the elevator response and will give you time to learn
to control the model. With the Center of Gravity Aft and down trim, it is
possible that you might induce PIO which manifest itself as
