Hello,
i was wondering if someone had tracked down the issue in Fabricio Chamon's
superb strand tree compounds that stopped it working in 2014? Failing that
would I be able to find a list of ice nodes that changed between 2013 and 1014
so i could at least have a chance of replacing /

By control i meant with uv's you can use an image sequence to deform a
mesh, that or any number of procedural effects manipulating maps. there are
a lot of things you can do, and i was wondering if there was any
equivalence in PTEX
I also know a company that is

Hi,
Does anyone know if there is some sort of paint brush stroke emulation
shader out there for softimage? Doing a test at work and something like
this could make life a lot easier
Cheers.
Ogi.
If you mean animating a brush stroke, you could use Helges PixelParticle
addon.
It creates a dense particle grid on a mesh. The color changes you make on
those particles
can be written out as an image sequence and reapplied to that mesh. Good
luck !

While thats not what i was referring to it actually could provide an
interesting effect and i may give it a shot. What i was alluding to is what
a water color post processing effect would give, sort of a watercolor
shader so to say, i know it can be solved in post easily but i was
wondering if it
Have you played with the toon shader at all?
I'm betting if you used that as a base then modified how it was applied
(maybe some noise that's modified by incidence that drives the different
shading zones), you could get an interesting watercolor effect. You'd
still need to do some post
That to might work, i dont have that much experience with the toon shader
but it could be modified with some sort of procedural, and some blending. I
tried a trick with hair just now but not getting the best results. I think
i will play around with my options a bit more and probably just push
the ice is impressive, the aggregation effect is ace.

Thanks for the kind words guys, Rudiger will be doing a talk at FMX on the job,

Hello Leendert,
You need to go through a reseller and chose either the Max or Maya flavor of
this bundle. Then the reseller will process the transaction. It is $0 if you
are current on Subs. If you are not current, there is a cost to transitioning -
talk to your reseller to determine the cost
Okay, thanks.
So this simply means, that I have to contact my reseller
and not have to wait for the reseller to contact me?
It does seem a bit inefficient to use the reseller network for this,
when AD could easily gather all data globally (through the subscription
center?)...

An additional question that came up on the si-community:
where should those users turn to who currently do not have a reseller,
due to lapsed subscription, but who still want to get back on board?

Just contact a reseller, it doesnt have to be a specific one. Every will do.
You don't need to be on sub, a valid license is enough to upgrade (maximum
of six version back, so 2009 and up). You have time until Feb 2015 if
you're not on sub.

does a UI like this have a performance hit?
Looking at the state of the Softimage Wiki, I wouldn't worry too much
about its future.
The frontpage banner still commemorates the release of Softimage 2013,
while Softimage 2014 is being mentioned (as an afterthought?).
The feature history hasn't been updated after Softimage 2013.

You're going to cripple yourself if you get used to using this sort of

Seriously though, the real point of this is to get the Maya team to open

In scripting, I can send a message to the statusbar by assigning a value to it
like this:
Application.Statusbar = program completed;
Looking through the C++ reference in the SDK, I cannot find the equivalent.
The best I could think of was called a script dynamically:
i didn't even know about sending a message to the statusbar this way... i
always used logmessage with a flag for the message severity.

I don't disagree. However, you can see the knee jerk reaction by others
here to make it look like Softimage immediately and continue on like its
the same. It's not and you will have to adapt.
It's public knowledge that Maya can be run without its interface while
having another interface riding on
