I've heard Ed's story many times and don't know how hos particular DI
worked but although charged air in the system is a common DI arrangement
it's not the only way. An electric detection system plus a pneumatic pilot
line would qualify as DI. DI just requires two distinct events to release
water.
Right. When the batteries died the system tripped. If the contractor had
left the sprinks intact, it would have been just another maintenance call.
The sprink they failed to neuter was just a clue which made me believe it
wasn't deliberately a deluge system. The important thing though, is the
