opposed to in the routers themselves. Ignore the commas - that was just
a typo! Both are on a different subnet though: 192.168.1.xx and
192.16.2.1. The aim is

OK - it seems there is a copy of "faad" installed and so now to test if
it runs OK.
I don't know ReadyNAS. Usual way to test is to run faad from command
prompt. Faad will be found in a subdirectory of LMS Bin directory.
To see what LMS is trying to do when playing the file - you can enable
if it's missing (seems like it might be), where would I check to see if
the application is installed?
If so, do I just need to install the correct / working version to
resolve the issue?
Greatly appreciate your assistance!

bpa - Thanks for the heads up.
I checked and the settings show as follows:
AAC
AAC Native
FLAC faad/flac
MP3 Disabled
PCM faad
Apple Lossless
Apple Lossless Native
FLAC faad/sox
MP3 Disabled
PCM faad
So it would appear we're on the right track... next steps?
SB Classic cannot play AAC / ALAC natively. The "Can't open file for"
usually means LMS is missing a working transcoding application faad.
Check LMS WebUI Settings/Advanced/FileTypes under AAC - if the entries
are like "faad", "faad", "faad/lame" or "faad/flac" - then faad is
missing.
If
Happy Holidays!
Just upgraded from my trusty ReadyNAS Pro6 to a new ReadyNAS 524x.
Everything went smoothly, but I just noticed ALAC (MP4) files that play
perfectly through the SB Touch and the iPhone 6SE (via iPeng 9) will not
play on the Classic.
Error on the Classic reads "Problem: Can't Open
If you want your daughter to use a SB Radio and connect it to your LMS
at home then she is going to need a VPN from her network to yours.
I am surmising that your router has VPN Server capability since you have
a VPN from work. What you need is for your daughter's router to have VPN
client

Maybe just a typo,
Hi
Can someone help please?
I am visiting my daughter's house at Christmas and have promised her
access to my Squeezebox set up. Before I go I am testing installation
from my work PC which is running Windows 10. I have been able to create
a VPN and access my home server and can stream quite
Hi bpa,
many thanks, I'll give it a try. As I'm actually on the road I guess it
will take up to the weekend until I'll have chance to get back on this
topic.
Kind regards,
Marcel
