Correct.
Also, perhaps it is not yet built, but on the downloads page, there is
no "old" macOS .pkg file.
The download page script needed some tweaking. Thanks!
Installed and playing on both platforms.

Ok, these macOS 11/12 bundles now are available for download from
https://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/?ver=8.3. You'll find them
alongside with the "old" packages and you'll recognize them by the
"BigSur-Monterey" addition to the file name. Please give them a try!

Ok, that makes the difference: with the firewall up I'd be able to run
LMS once from my dev folder, then would have to reboot the machine. With
firewall off, no such issue.
Now even more interesting: if I first add the shipped version to the
firewall allow list, then start, I'm
Nope.

I haven't seen this, and I tried to reproduce it:
Hmm... do you have the Mac's firewall enabled?

Only the issue mentioned above, when I tried to abort the scan, I could
not, and at that point, I could not stop LMS via the control panel, so I
whacked it with kill -9.

No issue found so far.
Have you never faced failure to restart LMS once you've stopped it? I'm
seeing it complain about "another version running", though there's no
process using LMS' ports. I've seen this happen with the custum built
perl as soon as I tried to use it outside its target

In order to understand whether this is an issue with this new build,
would you mind installing a regular build from
https://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/?ver=8.3 and try again?
Happy to try it in a little bit. I'm still on an aging Mac mini running
10.15, but Apple's rumored to release an update to the mini at a March 8
event. Planning on upgrading as soon as an M1 Pro/Max variant is
available.

Playing all day today on the M1, no issues during playback, selection,
normal usage.
I only ran into two issues, I don't believe having anything to do with
this experimental LMS:
1. The install and initial scan started
No issue found so far. Ive been playing local flac and Spotty since
yesterday, have done a few server starts and stops, a full wipe and
rescan, added and removed tracks and an album from Spotify. Situation
Normal,
I didnt get to the M1 install, Ill do that in the morning.
Done, and confirmed. Lindsey Buckingham is playing now.
I'll try the M1 tonight.

I'm happy to try it. I have a 2019 27" Retina iMac which I use for LMS
(and dev, and everything else), and I have a new 16" M1 Laptop which
could be renamed Guinea Pig.
Perfect! This experimental build isn't part of the regular build
pipeline, yet. Please download from
I have an Intel MacBook Pro running 12.2.1 which currently has an
installation of LMS 8.2.1 on it. This isn't often used (I use it on long
train journeys). I can test builds on this laptop.

About the prefs panel, time for it to dig a hole and place itself at the

Hey fellow macOS users. I'm looking for volunteers to test out new LMS
builds for your Mac. Currently we still use an OSX 10.5(!) virtual
machine to build our packages. The whole package relies on Perl being
installed on your system and obviously doesn't fully support Apple
Silicon. (but hey:
