That's good. I only mentioned the above because the silly instance of varying type case has caused me issues here and there in the past, and it is perhaps the least obvious outside of a rescan. It might be because MP3Tag doesn't necessarily note that difference but LMS does. Thanks all. For all the moaning about Edge, this is only the second time I've had a problem (and the first was because it doesn't support Silverlight, which is another Microsoft product!). It's not a massive problem and sounds like it'll sort itself eventually. In the meantime I can use the "classic" skin. Unless there's a better skin for using on a desktop monitor? Because MS apparently doesn't have the skill to write a proper web browser Microsoft has announced that the core of the Edge browser is being changed to the Chromium engine. This should be available sometime in the next year and will probably fix the current Edge issue with the LMS WebUI. I think Edge is broken again (as far as LMS goes). A few days ago LMS suddenly would not display at all via Edge for me. I finally relented and now use LMS on another browser--should have done that several months ago when a Windows 10 update presented issues with Edge & LMS. Michael fiddled around with LMS then to make it work; I doubt it is worth his expenditure of time at this point. I'm currently testing Tidal in parallel to Spotify at home and at the office, i clearly hear differences with the FLAC files. but then comes another aspect that i didn't though before, is the user interface and more particularly the random mix or the available playlists, where in TIDAL i'm surpirse to almost never heart something that i know and be poluted by some R/Rap music all the time ...anyway that's another discussion that does not need to be treated here. As per the title. I noticed this a few weeks ago, but I don't use the web interface much. I was on 7.9.1 so I updated to the latest nightly of 7.9.2 (yesterday). No change. Works fine when I open in Internet Explorer. Has always been fine for me. Everything looks fine on the right hand side (now playing). On the left I see the Logitech Media Server home link, there is a grey title bar over a pale panel, but both these things are empty. Any ideas what to try next? Classic and light interfaces seem to work fine. Mark. (PS: Anybody recommend a very function rich skin like the LMS default? I could always install that instead.) First step will be to force the complete rescan. I've been in a slow process of reripping CD's to FLAC and partaking in a similar process to replace files in the library. LMS struggles a bit with replacing files in this way as there are almost always slight differences in the file information that confuses LMS and leaves files that no longer exist in the database. Aside from a rescan, when your files are brought in with tags outside your control (happens for me with the initial rip relying on internet data to fill tags or when buying tracks that are already tagged), you have to look at almost every tag that is there for consistency. Here are just some examples where I've had files show up as different albums (or split among artists): 1. Mixed capitalization in the album title (or even in album artists): e.g. Dark Side of the Moon vs. Dark Side Of The Moon. 2. Inconsistent discnumber (and its variations) tags: e.g. 1/1 vs 1 (or some filled and some blank, or some 1 and some 2, etc) 3. Compilation tags (similar to disc number): I've had albums where there are guest artists be interpretted as compilations. I usually force a compilation=0 tag. Some are against doing that, but it is easier for me with MP3Tag to just force it to 0 when I know albums aren't compilations than deal with the random misinterpretations 4. Inconsistent sort tags (this rarely happens, but it can impact things just like any of the above). With MP3Tag, I find it works well to select all the tracks in an album. For certain tags that you know should be consistent across an album, they should all show the same value. If they show nothing or that the results vary, then you can now change them to be consistent. In my case, the receiver is impacting quality (I am not an audiophile so I don't try to quantify how), my internet bandwidth could have an impact, server, etc. This is why I think it really is going to depend on a users equipment and setup. I used to get a lot of albums from places like CDBaby and eMusic. The eMusic files in particular were low resolution, and I sometimes find them difficult to listen to. Similarly, early CDBaby files were in a less-than-desirable VBR form, before they switched to standard 320kbs or flac. Sadly, they no longer offer their files in flac, but everything I ordered back in the day is still available in 320. So I decided to re-download a set of those older files to get the better grade of compression. But an odd thing has happened with some of these, and I can't figure it out. My work process was to download the file, unpack them to a convenient location and copy to my primary archive having deleted the old files (including the folder for the recording), and then re-creating with the new files. I then did the necessary massaging with MP3Tag. Next step was to copy to my networked music folder, which lives on a hard drive attached to my dedicated music server running Win7. Windows Explorer wouldn't let me delete the entire "old" folder, because it wouldn't delete the Thumbs.db file, declaring it to be open in Windows Explorer. It wasn't, on the computer I was using, but it may be that LMS's presence on the remote computer was causing Windows to think this. I didn't think it made a difference, so having deleted all the old mp3 files, I then copied the new higher-res ones into the folder. In most cases, this worked fine. In a few, though, the LMS scan resulted in two listings for an album, each holding a subset of the files. I have checked, and can see nothing different in the parameters that should count, e.g. album name, artist, album artist, or anything. All were processed simultaneously with MP3Tag and all should have exactly the same configuration. As noted, this is happening only with a subset of the recordings, all of which were handled in exactly the same way. Suggestions? R.
