Well, I did an uninstall and a re-install and everything now works as it did before. All my old playlists work, the new ones that I'd created through all the testing also work. I'm not entirely sure what I'd done to stuff it up, but I'm putting it down to a re-install I'd done a couple of weeks ago. For what it's worth - with this install I've: - logged into NAS as builtin "admin" administrator userid - installed/configured LMSUpdate v8 package - disabled builtin "admin" userid. Rebooted NAS and done full-rescan in LMS just to check. Even with "admin" user disabled, LMS runs as "admin" and can still access all music and playlist contents. At least I've got a clean LMS installed again! kidhazy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=42259 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=108532 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Installation/upgrade problem 7.9.3
Hi, I have been running 7.9.2 on my Ubuntu 18.04.03 LTS system since February, and it has been working great. I originally installed it from the nightly build package using apt. Today I downloaded the nightly build for 7.9.3 and first tried installing/upgrading it with dpkg -i logitechmediaserver_7.9.3_1591161343_i386.deb There were messages about changing the ownership of the files in /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/ from group slim to group nogroup. The server would not run at that point. /var/log/squeezeboxserver/server.log updated every five seconds with the message: 2020-06-30 09:36:35 Logitech Media Server died. Restarting. I tried changing the file group ownership to "slim" and restarted the logitechmediaserver service. Same behavior and messages. I removed the package with apt purge logitechmediaserver and deleted /var/lib/squezeboxserver. Then I installed it again with apt install ./logitechmediaserver_7.9.3_1591161343_i386.deb Same messages and behavior. Is there a way to find out why the server is dying? When I originally installed under Ubuntu, I had a problem with using an old server.prefs file that was pointing to an old music db location, and when I deleted the old server.prefs the server started and I was able to follow the setup wizard through the web interface. But this time I'm working with no server.prefs file in place (or any other files in the prefs directory) before installing. So I'm stuck. I could really use some more detailed error messages, or a better understanding of where all the LMS files are stored so I can make sure I'm starting from a blank slate when I install. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Using Sox to parametrically equalizing I'm losing seek functionality. Could it work?
Ok, found solution for MP3s as well. Since I have music only in flac and mp3 my solution is complete. Code: mp3 flc * bc:5f:f4:bf:3e:70 # FT:{START=-ss %t} [ffmpeg] -loglevel quiet $START$ -i $FILE$ -f wav - | [sox] -D -q -t wav - -t flac -C 0 -b 24 - gain -6.9 equalizer 30 0.43q +6.2 equalizer 699 2.00q +1.0 equalizer 2924 4.11q -1.7 equalizer 6031 5.05q -6.2 equalizer 9825 4.08q +2.2 equalizer 83 4.24q +1.3 equalizer 209 1.54q -1.2 equalizer 2842 0.1q +0.2 equalizer 12443 1.29q +2.7 equalizer 19698 0.46q -11.8 I had to use ffmpeg because, as far as I can see, LAME does not accept time offsets when decoding (https://svn.code.sf.net/p/lame/svn/trunk/lame/USAGE). Don't know how the internal functionality of mp3 transcoding works (when lowering bitrates) because that is capable of seeking but the convert.conf line does not show any instruction for that. I could probably be using ffmpeg for flac files too but I guess there's no point or added value. If there are mistakes in my solution above, please do point them out. gorman's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=56 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=112497 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

THANK YOU SO MUCH! Now I see that a similar problem arises with mp3 files. Instead of jumping to the next track in the queue, when seeking the track is restarted. I'll come back with my findings later. In the meantime, thank you so much to everybody that chimed in to help. And a special thank you to ralphy for providing the solution. I remember creating a linux i386 and win32 flac binary with the patch, but testing stalled after the initial tests confirmed that the change worked. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS 8.0: Very strange sorting order?
This may not help, so I'm sorry if it's a distraction. Ages ago I had a similar problem and no amount of altering the tags got rid of the problem. The root cause turned out to be my including in 'Comments" reviews of albums which exceeded the character limit for the field, causing corruption elsewhere in the tagging. At that time, MP3tag didn't have error checking to constrain tags to valid sizes. I no longer copy and paste comments, so have not investigated further in MP3tag. [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS on Synology NAS Installation - user ID recommendations
Do people install LMS on their NAS's under a unique User ID, or use a standard user/admin user ID? Whilst I work out a possible permission issue with my playlists on me LMS installation on my Synology NAS I'm interested in suggested approaches. Previously I've just installed LMS after I logged in as "admin". But Synology security recommendations is to disable the well-known "admin" user id and create a unique administrator ID. There is also some discussions about using different user IDs for running 'service' type applications that are always running in the background - with the 'benefit' to control/lock-down what the processes can do. The discussions I've seen have been more focused around when running things inside Docker containers on the NAS. Any suggestions/recommendations or benefits either way? I remember testing and setting locale specially decimal setting to see error appear / disappear. IIRC It was awkward to find equivalent setting in Windows. I thought the change made was such that LMS and Flac (supplied by LMS not standard) hardwired a locale setting into Flac and it matched LMS formatting of "skip". bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=112497 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
