This question is just a curiosity, no action needed. I am wondering if
something changed with player authentication and mysb.com?

Tony;
I am wondering if you have thought of uninstalling LMS from your NAS,
and reinstalling? It shouldn't be that hard, and the biggest time
consumer will be the initial scan. I think the key will be to get a
complete uninstall, maybe use something like revo uninstaller.
I am thinking that

It works with my opus files. It's not included in an LMS release yet.

Thanks for the info, so having a "Now Playing" button on the remote is
important.
As far as I know the "now playing" screen cannot be set using the
server, so either click on the device itself, or a remote that has the
"now playing" button.
The small remotes do not have the now playing
I did as you instructed on
https://github.com/Logitech/slimserver/issues/826 and have LMS 8.3.0 up
and running on Debian bookworm/sid.
Thanks! :-)

What version of Audio::Scan is LMS using?
You can find the details in Settings->Information of the LMS web
interface.
If it's less than 1.05 then that's likely the problem.

Just one question ... in 5.34 it is x86_64-linux-thread-multi whereas
in that download it is now x86_64-linux-gnu-thread-multi.
Good catch! Yes, the "-gnu" is removed in the LMS code. Don't ask me
why. So I'd recommend you remove it from the folder name, too.

So it seems that 8.3.0 is ready for usage under MACs as well.
The first remark is that DSD plug in does not work with this version of
LMS. I guess that the update will follow
