yep, now the hard part, because problem is intermittent, and there are lots of parts/cables from the wall to the modem to the LMS server to the player. I don't think cache needs to be restored (but I have copied both cache and prefs folders to new LMS installs, and it worked just fine). One important point however, in the "server.prefs" file, after saving, open with a text editor and search for "uuid". There will be two lines that contain "uuid" and other info. Delete both those lines and save the "server.prefs" file (as text file). Once LMS on new machine starts it will recreate the proper uuid lines for that particular install. (this probably doesn't matter if the old and new LMS servers are not in the same household. But in one case I had two servers in same household, and it caused problems in selecting and controlling the two LMS servers, as having the same uuid info confused the controller. *Home:* Pi4B-8GB/pCP8.x/4TB>LMS 8.2.x>Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio (all ethernet) *Cottage:* rPi4B-4GB/pCP8.x/4TB>LMS 8.2.x>Touch>Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (Radio WIFI) *Office:* Win10(64)>foobar2000 *The Wild: *rPi3B+/pCP7.x/4TB>LMS 8.1.x>hifiberry Dac+Pro (LMS & Squeezelite) *Controllers:* iPhone11 & iPadAir3 (iPeng), CONTROLLER, Material Skin, or SqueezePlay 7.8 on Win10(64) *Files:* -Ripping-: dBpoweramp > FLAC; -Post-rip-: mp3tag, PerfectTunes, TuneFusion; -Streaming:- Spotify garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=116155 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Which Log for capturing potential cause of buffering internet radio streams
thanks @bpa. This is very useful. I mostly wanted to eliminate something obvious about the player or the LMS server as a problem. I'm 99.9% sure that's true now (with your help). So my focus will be on the network. It's not other users, or other programs downloading/uploading (as this happens when I'm home alone with no other computers connected, and me on laptop just doing mostly local stuff). I've checked all modem connections, etc. (all in a cabinet and not accessible to pets, and cooled with fan by the way).So next step will be replacing a few key ethernet cables and eventually maybe even my switches. the good news is that in 20 hours of playing yesterday, this rebuffering only happened once.(I started this investigation last week when it was happening every 5 - 10 minutes one morning.I suspect now that was a problem with my ISP. Finally had one of these rebuffering episodes (not synched, direct playback to player, etc.). Was fine for several hours through 17:11 time. Thanks, I'll leave it on INFO with the settings (direct streaming, etc.) as changed this morning and let it run all day. Of course, since this morning, I've had zero issues. p.s. Yes, the display during rebuffering is: Rebuffering 0%...4%35%.68% (just making up the numbers, and it only shows one number at time). And then before it reaches 100% it always just starts playing (with the rebuffering info gone). *Home:* Pi4B-8GB/pCP8.x/4TB>LMS 8.2.x>Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio (all ethernet) *Cottage:* rPi4B-4GB/pCP8.x/4TB>LMS 8.2.x>Touch>Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (Radio WIFI) *Office:* Win10(64)>foobar2000 *The Wild: *rPi3B+/pCP7.x/4TB>LMS 8.1.x>hifiberry Dac+Pro (LMS & Squeezelite) *Controllers:* iPhone11 & iPadAir3 (iPeng), CONTROLLER, Material Skin, or SqueezePlay 7.8 on Win10(64) *Files:* -Ripping-: dBpoweramp > FLAC; -Post-rip-: mp3tag, PerfectTunes, TuneFusion; -Streaming:- Spotify garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=116117 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Cable modem (same) > Router (same) > ethernet over powerline adapter >...electrical lines.. > 2nd ethernet over powerline > Radio The word "buffering with percentage count up" shows upon the screen of either the CONTROLLER or the SqueezePlay "screen" (I still use squeezeplay as a controller on my windows laptop, controlling the TRANSPORTER). Seems to be true buffering (as in, after rebuffering it may pick up from exactly where it left off, as compared with a true loss/gap in audio). A couple other points: 1. I get the buffering even when the Transporter and Radio are not synced, and the Radio is not playing at all (but it is still connected to the ethernet over power converters) 2. I don't get the buffering playing local files. Of course the buffering is so intermittent that I can't be 100% sure it doesn't happen with local files, as I haven't tried that for an all day period. [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Which Log for capturing potential cause of buffering internet radio streams
Which log(s) should I set to 'debug' in order to capture potential information on what is happening when my internet radio streams are buffering on my Transporter. Thanks. A few facts: - It is an intermittent problem (might happen every few minutes, but then go a few hours with no issue) - Not tied to a single internet radio stream, but happens with several. mp3 or AAC streams, none greater than 256kbs. - I suspected it might be because of a synching problem (transporter and radio synched), but removing the synched radio didn't solve occasional buffering. - Internal network and internet connection *seems* OK with good DOWNLOAD speeds like I've always had (100-150 Mbps), however I've noticed that my UPLOAD speeds have been dropping sometimes to a crawl (1 or 2 Mbps) since the problem started. Not sure if that is connected. Using my laptop, I don't see any problems or indication that my internet connection itself has 'dropped' and see no disconnect issues looking at my modem logs. - Does not happen when streaming my local FLAC files. - Running Logitech Media Server Version: 8.2.1 - 1644703015 @ Sun 13 Feb 2022 01:08:32 AM CET, on Pi4B, running piCorePlayer | piCorePlayer v8.1.0 | v00017. - Players and server are all ethernet connected. *Home:* Pi4B-8GB/pCP8.x/4TB>LMS 8.2.x>Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio (all ethernet) *Cottage:* rPi4B-4GB/pCP8.x/4TB>LMS 8.2.x>Touch>Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (Radio WIFI) *Office:* Win10(64)>foobar2000 *The Wild: *rPi3B+/pCP7.x/4TB>LMS 8.1.x>hifiberry Dac+Pro (LMS & Squeezelite) *Controllers:* iPhone11 & iPadAir3 (iPeng), CONTROLLER, Material Skin, or SqueezePlay 7.8 on Win10(64) *Files:* -Ripping-: dBpoweramp > FLAC; -Post-rip-: mp3tag, PerfectTunes, TuneFusion; -Streaming:- Spotify garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=116117 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

by the way, TALB is the tag field name for album title for mp3 files tagged in mp3tag (and I presume this is the name of the mp3 ID3v2.0 tag field for album title in general). Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] advanced search capabilities problem
tell me what steps to follow to do an "advanced search". I have material, I have lots of FLAC files (ripped from dbpa) and mp3 files (tagged with mp3tag). And many have comment tags. I'm happy to do some testing on my end, but all I can see to do is click on "my music", click the search icon (magnifying glass), and enter some text (for example, something I know is in a comment tag). Is that "advanced search"? *Home:* Pi4B-8GB/pCP8.x/4TB>LMS 8.2.x>Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio (all ethernet) *Cottage:* rPi4B-4GB/pCP8.x/4TB>LMS 8.2.x>Touch>Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (Radio WIFI) *Office:* Win10(64)>foobar2000 *The Wild: *rPi3B+/pCP7.x/4TB>LMS 8.1.x>hifiberry Dac+Pro (LMS & Squeezelite) *Controllers:* iPhone11 & iPadAir3 (iPeng), CONTROLLER, Material Skin, or SqueezePlay 7.8 on Win10(64) *Files:* -Ripping-: dBpoweramp > FLAC; -Post-rip-: mp3tag, PerfectTunes, TuneFusion; -Streaming:- Spotify garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115660 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

I have no issues playing gapless FLAC, mp3, or m4a files on my players (Touch, Radio, Boom, Transporter). So this is not some sort of widespread bug (although to be fair, I'm using LMS 8.2.1 stable version rather than 8.3 beta version). I also suspect something in your network or in your LMS settings. Have you made any changes in the default settings in LMS under "file types" or in buffer size, etc. Unlikely, but just in case, have you confirmed that these files play gapless in nonLMS setting (foobar2000, itunes, or some other player on your computer). *Home:* Pi4B-8GB/pCP8.x/4TB>LMS 8.2.x>Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio (all ethernet) *Cottage:* rPi4B-4GB/pCP8.x/4TB>LMS 8.2.x>Touch>Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (Radio WIFI) *Office:* Win10(64)>foobar2000 *The Wild: *rPi3B+/pCP7.x/4TB>LMS 8.1.x>hifiberry Dac+Pro (LMS & Squeezelite) *Controllers:* iPhone11 & iPadAir3 (iPeng), CONTROLLER, Material Skin, or SqueezePlay 7.8 on Win10(64) *Files:* -Ripping-: dBpoweramp > FLAC; -Post-rip-: mp3tag, PerfectTunes, TuneFusion; -Streaming:- Spotify garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115530 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Many tags can hold multiple values. I use mostly FLAC files. For example, consider this example: ALBUM: Two Men With the Blues ARTIST: Willie Nelson ARTIST: Wynton Marsalis This album shows up in LMS under BOTH the artists Willie Nelson and Wynton Marsalis. When ripping this with dbpoweramp, I created the multivalue artist tag by putting this in the artist tag content: Willie Nelson; Wynton Marsalis If I was editing the file tags using mp3tag, I would enter the artist tag content as: Willie Nelson\\Wynton Marsalis Both of the above items are simply producing multiple ARTIST tags in the FLAC file. And if one examines the tags of the songs on this album, one would see two ARTIST tags, one for each artist. I do NOT have an ALBUM ARTIST tag for this album. But ALBUM ARTIST seems to matter. For example: ALBUM: Willie & The Wheel ARTIST: Willie Nelson ARTIST: Asleep at the Wheel ALBUM ARTIST: Willie Nelson This album shows up ONLY under Willie Nelson in LMS, when browsing via the "ALBUM ARTIST" menu. However, if I instead browse under the My Music > All Artists menu item, it shows up under both artists, Willie Nelson and Asleep at the Wheel. Recall what I pointed out earlier about this. > I recall that this is the way LMS has always worked when one has an > artist on a compilation that doesn't otherwise have another album in > your library where they are the main artist. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Strange behaviour in Artist metadata
I recall that this is the way LMS has always worked when one has an artist on a compilation that doesn't otherwise have another album in your library where they are the main artist. What happens when under "my music" you select "all artists" rather than "album artists"? Does the missing artist show up in that list? I think it should. Note: you may need to go into LMS > Settings > My Music tab, and select under browse artists, "Use two separate lists for album artists and all artists" *Home:* Pi4B-8GB/pCP8.x/4TB>LMS 8.2.x>Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio (all ethernet) *Cottage:* rPi4B-4GB/pCP8.x/4TB>LMS 8.2.x>Touch>Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (Radio WIFI) *Office:* Win10(64)>foobar2000 *The Wild: *rPi3B+/pCP7.x/4TB>LMS 8.1.x>hifiberry Dac+Pro (LMS & Squeezelite) *Controllers:* iPhone11 & iPadAir3 (iPeng), CONTROLLER, Material Skin, or SqueezePlay 7.8 on Win10(64) *Files:* -Ripping-: dBpoweramp > FLAC; -Post-rip-: mp3tag, PerfectTunes, TuneFusion; -Streaming:- Spotify garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115129 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

I have the complete D on tour with EC box set from 2010 it that's what you're referring to. Great set. Interesting to think about how influential Delaney Bramlett was in all this. The 3 different mixes are interesting (Tom Dowd, EC, and Delaney Bramlett). p.s. I've been on a Delaney & Bonnie, EC, Derek and the Dominos, and George Harrison All Things Must Pass kick lately. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Bad sorting in LMS 8.1.1 and artistas
I use mp3tag for all my tagging. I'd take one of these odd artists (David Bowie), open all his files in YATE, and then somehow look at all the tag values aross these files. It is easy in mp3tag, as I'd just select all these folders, and in mp3tag, right click, select "extended tags" and I'd see all the tags and values, including easily seeing whether there is ANY artistsort tag at all in any of the files. *Home:* Pi4B-8GB/pCP8.x/4TB>LMS 8.1.x>Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio (all ethernet) *Cottage:* rPi4B-4GB/pCP7.x/4TB>LMS 8.1.x>Touch>Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (Radio WIFI) *Office:* Win10(64)>foobar2000 *The Wild: *rPi3B+/pCP7.x/4TB>LMS 8.1.x>hifiberry Dac+Pro (LMS & Squeezelite) *Controllers:* iPhone11 & iPadAir3 (iPeng), CONTROLLER, Material Skin, or SqueezePlay 7.8 on Win10(64) *Files:* -Ripping-: dBpoweramp > FLAC; -Post-rip-: mp3tag, PerfectTunes, TuneFusion; -Streaming:- Spotify garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114907 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
