[freenet-support] java.lang.OutOfMemoryError

2002-11-26 Thread Shawn Yarbrough
My dedicated Freenet node won't start. I stopped it because the load
was only 20% (I'm used to around 80% load, 24 hours a day). It was
working fine 12 hours ago as far as I could tell from :.

I'm seeing:

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError

in the bash shell that I run my node from. This occurs after "loading
routing table" in freenet.log, and then the node crashes.

This node is the latest version and has been around since the stable
release. Uptime was over five days. It has about 19 GB in it's
datastore. System is Athlon 1333 mhz, Debian GNU/Linux 3.0, Linux
kernel 2.2.20, Sun Java, 768 MB RAM, 2 GB swap, no swap being used.

Any suggestions what could be wrong? I tried renaming the ls* and rt*
files but that had no effect so I put them back. I can provide more
info/logs/testing but I don't currently have time to debug any code myself.

[freenet-support] Re: Carrying Over The Datastore

2002-11-26 Thread Todd Walton
> I don't see why you did a "fresh install".

I felt like it. It was just as easy. There may have been updates to the
Windows installer. It seems more natural to do it that way when in the
Windows world. So on.

I have fixed the problem. Before I had copied over the entire folder. As
in " store_X ", and it wasn't working. But then I tried copying over
all the individual folders that are inside (as in " store_X/* ") of the
datastore folder to inside the new datastore folder that the new install
created, and that seemed to work.

Any reason this might be? And another question, for the hell of it: What
is the naming scheme of the directories in the datastore directory? All
the keys seem to start with "1-".

[freenet-support] Send command line options through the wrapper

2002-11-26 Thread Robert Carroll

Is there any way to send command line options to
the command line through the wrapper on a winxp system?  I'm having
problems with java.lang.outOfMemory when starting my node.  I've resorted
to running freenet by just doing >java -Xms64m -Xmx256m -jar freenet.jar
but I miss the little rabbit icon, and the cmd box is ugly :)  Also, is
there a better way than ^C to shutdown freenet when running it like
this?

You got a very old Frost version... Where did you get it?

The official website of the Frost developer is:
http://jtcfrost.sourceforge.net/

The newest files under http://jtcfrost.sourceforge.net/files
are called "frost021112.zip" and "frost.zip"; they contains the
same version. It's the Frost release from 12-Nov-2002.

I can't find this files either. They are perhaps from the old Freenet0.3 times?
Frost (newest version) and Freenet0.5 works great.

In Freenet0.4 with the encrypted datastore the node used "node_*" to access
and to decrypt the datastore.

I don't know if every node in Freenet0.5 uses the DS in the same way.
Perhaps you can only use your existing datastore with a node on the SAME
FNP port and with the specific "node_*" file??
In this case you can feed your new node with the routing files from the
old one (to keep your good references to other Freenet nodes).
It's in the "lsnodes_*" and "rtprops_*".
(every "*" in my answer means the FNP port number)
