Please try following my instructions and see if it'll help. If it won't
help, please give a concise explanation of what went wrong, including
direct copy-pastes of relevant lines from wrapper.log or freenet-*.log.

Re: [freenet-support] some problem to install freenet on linux

2015-05-19 Thread Victor Denisov
Dave, after subscribing to the support mailing list, you're getting all
emails sent by all subscribers; Dennis' answer to a Linux question
wasn't directed at you.

To answer your question (even if you've been *extremely* rude to the
volunteers who run this project), please try doing the following:

1. Uninstall and reinstall Freeenet. Seriously. Please do it.
2. Before starting Freenet, open the wrapper configuration file
("wrapper\wrapper.conf" in your Freenet installation directory) in
Wordpad, and find the following line:

wrapper.java.maxmemory=512

3. Change it to

wrapper.java.maxmemory=1024

4. Adjust your bandwidth settings and adjust the following sizes:

Maximum size of a RAMBucket: 4MB
Amount of RAM to dedicate to temporary buckets: 128MB
Freenet datastore size: 100GB
Maximum size of the in-memory write cache for each store: 4MB
Client cache size: 1GB

Do not change any other settings before you've run Freenet successfully
for at least a month or so, then you can start to gently tweak your
configuration further.

Finally, do not start more than ~10 downloads at once, especially if
they're for large (> 100 MB) files.

Regards,
Victor Denisov.

Re: [freenet-support] some problem to install freenet on linux

2015-05-18 Thread Dennis New
Why does the subject of your message mention installing freenet *on
linux*? If you're running Window$ then you have to use the Window$
installation script -- probably ends in .bat or .exe? .sh files are
linux bash-script files.

Please elaborate:
- Where did you see this error message?
- What where you trying to accomplish when you received the error message?
- What did you expect to happen instead?
- What happened after you dismissed the error, if anything?

My guess would be that you were trying to install Freenet through the
installer, and that it failed half-way yielding the mentioned error
message, instead of properly finishing the installation.

To further assist in tracking down the source of your problems, please
include the output of the following command, right after you receive the
error message:

ls -ld /usr/local/Freenet/bin /usr/local/Freenet/bin/*

The above command lists the file permission information on several files
related to the installation of Freenet.

Which distro are you using? Ideally it should have a package for
