Re: Help with Wox Pidgin plugin

2022-12-11 Thread Eion Robb
Hi Jakub,

I've not used wox before, but looking at the source code for that wox
module it looks like you create a hard-coded list of XMPP contacts in a
contact.json file which looks like [{"name":"internal name", "alias":
"friendly name", "email": "xmpp address"}...] and then it calls an xmpp:
URI handler to send the message, assuming that Pidgin is installed as the
system XMPP handler?

Not the greatest workflow to be honest, and won't work with your Telegram
use-case. Something that used the Pidgin Dbus API to lookup current
contacts, and handled more than just XMPP would be cooler :)

Cheers,
Eion

Re: Authenticating with undernet.org's X service

2022-11-21 Thread Eion Robb
Hi again,

Glad you got it going :)

The "enable keepalives" option is from a different plugin that lets you
turn off keepalives that are normally forced on in different protocol
plugins, to deal with unusual or problematic irc and XMPP servers. You
probably wouldnt normally need it :)

Eion

When you say "refuses to connect" does anything show up at the bottom of

Re: How to log out and create new Pidgin account

2022-08-20 Thread Eion Robb
Hi there,

You can add multiple accounts for pidgin to use at the same time through
the Accounts->Manage Accounts screen. Then click the Add button to add the
new account. This also lets you merge buddies from two different accounts
in your buddy list. Eg you might have a buddy on both Facebook and Discord,
if you merge them together then the conversation history will also be merged

If you're still getting notifications that you aren't expecting to see, it
might be because you're closing pidgin instead of quitting it. The easiest
way to do so is to right click on the Pidgin system tray icon (you might
have to expand the system tray as windows likes to collapse it by default)
and choose Quit. There's also a Quit option from the Buddies menu from the
buddy list, but you'd need the system tray to open the buddy list

Hi there,

Based on the timing of your email, are you talking about the recent closure
of the Google GTalk servers? If so, you'll want to move over to the

Otherwise, if not, are you able to share what service/server you're trying

Re: Pidgin stuck at "connecting" after while Windows 11

Hi Tomas,

I've had similar struggles with Win11 - probably an updated API for network
availability in there somewhere. As a workaround, I've edited my Pidgin
shortcut to run "pidgin.exe -f" which makes Pidgin ignore the
online/offline status that Windows is reporting.

Hope that helps you as much as it's helped me!

Re: Pidgin - Corporate Testing

2021-07-09 Thread Eion Robb
Hi again,

Just to check, you're not logged into that account on any other XMPP client?

XMPP accounts can be connected to from different 'resources', and if one is
online then the account will show as online to other people.

Cheers,
Eion

Just to check, is that when setting your status using the
Available/Away/Offline dropdown at the bottom of the buddylist or is that
when your computer is idle/hasn't been used for 5+ minutes?

Re: Pidgin crashes. OTR session with xabber client!

2021-07-08 Thread Eion Robb
Hi there,

Unfortunately this looks like 2 different crashes in libraries that Pidgin
uses but doesn't support:

   1. There's a crash in Pango (text rendering library) trying to double
free some memory. You might want to try running Pidgin through valgrind to
see where the memory is being free'd twice. You'll need to send this one
up to the Pango guys to try fix.
   2. There's a crash in the OTR plugin, something to do with an error when
reallocating memory. Unfortunately Pidgin doesn't support this 3rd party
library, so you'll need to send this one to them.

To help with both of these issues, you might want to recompile all
libraries in the backtrace with debug symbols, (libpango and libgcrypt in
particular), and maybe refer to
https://developer.pidgin.im/wiki/GetABacktrace about how to extract a more
meaningful backtrace that can reveal a bit more about what's happening
behind the scenes to cause those crashes.

Cheers,
Eion

Re: Strange behavior since Hangouts went to Chat

2021-07-06 Thread Eion Robb
Hmm. That's really strange. There's been some issues related to the 429
errors that can make it reconnect and download history again, but it
normally has the right time on it, not the current time.

To completely avoid the question, I'm working on a new plugin for Google
Chat at https://github.com/EionRobb/purple-googlechat Efforts are focused
more on getting the new one working rather than fixing the old one, sorry.

Cheers,
Eion

Re: SSL Connection failed

Hi again,

Looking at the logs it's showing that you're being blocked from the server

(11:31:41) proxy: Error connecting to lightwitch.org:5222 (Connection timed
out.).

I can access their server ok from here.

You might have tripped some kind of anti spam protection or something like
that. You'll need to get in contact with the lightwitch.org server admins
and see if they're blocking your ip?

Hi Jack,

You might get more info out of the Help->Debug Window as you reconnect.
(Although, when I try to connect to the lightwitch.org xmpp server from
here, I'm getting a certificate for aria-net.org instead of lightwitch.org
so not sure what's going on there.)

If you're able to attach any SSL or NSS/TLS errors then we can have a look
and try work out next steps (might be something that can be resolved by
configuring the Tools->Plugins->NSS Preferences  plugin)

Re: Pidgin WIBNI or option I'm just not finding

Sorry about that. Behind the scenes there's two different buddy lists on
Hangouts and they end up fighting with each other when the account
reconnects

As a workaround, you can use
https://github.com/EionRobb/pidgin-ignore-nickchange which suppresses those
messages

Re: Hangouts ssl error

Hi Rodney,

Glad to hear that worked for you :)

Unfortunately it wasn't picked up by Mozilla until it was already released,
as they added in a 'compat mode' flag into Firefox that masked the problem
for them, but broke every other app that uses NSS.

If you're interested, you can read a bit more about the bug at

Re: Hangouts ssl error

2020-10-29 Thread Eion Robb
There was a bug introduced in the most recent version of libnss that
prevents it talking to most servers with SSL. It's fixed in an unreleased
version of nss

As a workaround (assuming this is the problem you're getting) you can limit
the max version of TLS in the Tools->Plugins->NSS Preferences config screen
to TLS 1.2

Hopefully that helps resolve the issue, but if not please let us know and
we can start down the path of getting more debug details

Re: Skype login not working -- the dreaded Magic T-Value

2020-08-24 Thread Eion Robb
Hi again,

The Hangouts 429 (rate limit exceeded) issue is a separate one again (I had
a link just a second ago to the github issue tracker, but lost it again,
sorry), and can happen if you re-authenticate too many times in an hour -
we do a lot of requests at login to build up conversation and buddy
history, which can easily push things over the limit. You might have
inadvertently run into it when reconnecting to the Hangouts account after
installing the Skype plugin.

Eion

Re: Skype login not working -- the dreaded Magic T-Value

2020-08-24 Thread Eion Robb
Hi Phil,

The issue to follow for this is
https://github.com/EionRobb/skype4pidgin/issues/656
There's a dll with a fix buried near the bottom of the comments, but the
gist is that using the 'Use alternative login method' setting is always
preferred, since it's less unreliable (although not everyone has been able
to use it because of an 'profile accrual required' error message -
something to do with not having a skype+microsoft merged account)

Just waiting to get more feedback on that fix before I push out a 1.7 of
the plugin later tonight

Cheers,
Eion

(please include the support mailing list, so that other people can help if

the same issue in the future)

Hi Todd,

Thanks for sending through the debug log :)

According to
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Projects/NSS/SSL_functions/sslerr.html
the "12279" error means "SSL_ERROR_UNSUPPORTED_VERSION" and "Peer using
unsupported version of security protocol. On a client socket, this means
the remote server has attempted to negotiate the use of a version of SSL
that is not supported by the NSS library, probably an invalid version
number."

You might want to have a look at the NSS Preferences plugin (in
Tools->Plugins) to configure a higher maximum allowed version of TLS, or
compare the settings between the two machines.

Eion

Re: Problem with Ubuntu 20.04

2020-08-01 Thread Eion Robb
Hi Todd,

There can be a few causes of "SSL Handshake Failed", the specific error
number will reveal which cause is happening in this case. If you open the
debug log (from the buddy list, Help->Debug Window) then try to reconnect
to the account, you should get a "SSL Handshake Failed" error with a
(-1234) code in there, starting with the negative sign.

If you could let us know which error code it is you're getting, or attach
the last few lines from the debug log, including that error, then we can
probably point you in the right direction.

Cheers,
Eion

Which protocol are you seeing this with (XMPP, Skype, IRC, something
else)? Depending on the protocol, there could either be a bug that it's
not listening to the 'deny' request (I know that the Steam plugin has this
issue at the moment), or that it's not looking at the block list.

Re: XMPP group chat colors

2020-06-01 Thread Eion Robb
Hi Adam,

Colours for usernames in chats are hard-coded in Pidgin and won't be picked
up from the server:
https://bitbucket.org/pidgin/main/src/release-2.x.y/pidgin/gtknickcolors.h
- for the first 24 colours and
https://bitbucket.org/pidgin/main/src/release-2.x.y/pidgin/gtkconv.c#lines-10294
- for generating the next 196

https://bitbucket.org/pidgin/main/src/release-2.x.y/pidgin/gtkconv.c#lines-173:191
is the algorithm used for turning a nickname into a colour

Re: Migrating configuration across systems

2020-05-07 Thread Eion Robb
Hi Robert,

The .purple directory holds everything about your account that you would
need. Since it's possible for Pidgin to load config from a different
folder with command line options, maybe double check what folder is being
used by Pidgin by first opening up the debug log (Help->Debug Window) then
opening the preferences screen (Tools->Preferences), make a change to a
setting then change it back, then wait for the " util: Writing file
prefs.xml to directory" message to show up in the debug log.

Re: Audio/video calls

2020-04-03 Thread Eion Robb
Hi there,

There's a couple of things you can try to improve chances of the
voice/video call working:

1. Add in a stun server to Tools->Preferences->Network->Stun Server. If
your server doesn't provide one, then you can try stun.ekiga.net or try
google for other public stun servers - a stun server helps you find your
external IP address to communicate to the other side of the call, and can
help get through firewalls (with something called UDP hole-punching if you
were wondering)
2. Make sure the 'Enable automatic router port forwarding' option is
checked, and then ensure your router supports UPnP - this generally helps
with establishing connections

Hope that helps. If not, would you be able to provide a debug log (from
the buddy list, Help->Debug Window) from the point of just before trying to
establish a call until just after the call is connected?

Cheers,
Eion

It sounds like you're after purple-remote (

Re: trying to control font size...

Hi there,

You might want to try looking at the Pidgin GTK+ Theme Control plugin in
Tools->Plugins. It'll let you set the style of text in the history (upper)
panel, as well as in the entry (lower) panel. From what you've mentioned,
it sounds like you're adjusting the font size of what you're sending to the
other person, rather than just the display of 'unstyled' text (which is
what the plugin controls)

For the profile photo, the area at the bottom of the buddy list should be

protocol plugins can't override that button with an icon that's already set

Re: Pidgin, Facebook chat plugin, and sending to a messenger "group"

2019-12-31 Thread Eion Robb
Hi Noudess,

You can start a group chat by right clicking on a buddy and choosing
"Initiate Chat". The Facebook prpl is a little different to the others that
you'll need to pick the other two people from a popup first before you can
start chatting with them. After that, you can invite more people from the
Conversation->Invite menu.

Cheers,
Eion

Re: Aliases "blist"

2019-09-29 Thread Eion Robb
Hi again,

There's a few different aliases that are stored in Pidgin. The main one is
whichever alias is set when you edit the alias in Pidgin (aka the local
alias). Pidgin will fall-back to use the alias in the roster (aka the
server alias), but only if there's no local alias. The workaround for
yourself would be to right click the buddy in the buddy list, choose
"Alias..." and then clear out the alias that's there. It should then
revert to using the server alias.

Cheers,
Eion

Hi Kerry,

You'll be seeing all the other menu options greyed out if you're not
connected to any accounts. Have you added any accounts to Pidgin? If so,
in the Accounts->Modify Accounts screen, is the 'Enabled' column ticked?
If so, at the bottom of the buddy list, is the green Available selected
from the status dropdown menu? Is there any error messages showing at the
bottom of the buddy list?

Hi Alex,

Can you try the json-glib dll from
https://eion.robbmob.com/libjson-glib-1.0.dll ? You might have one that
has the g_unichar_validate() function linking as part of libgobject rather
than libglib.

The one that uses harfbuzz. I'm not sure what version that is, sorry.

Pidgin 2 works with GTK 2. Pidgin 3 works with GTK 3.

Re: Unicode emojis shown as tofu

2019-08-28 Thread Eion Robb
Hi Alex,

The plugins might not load due to a bad version of libjson-glib that I
built. It was built in such a way that it won't work on newer versions of
gtk/glib. I've got a rebuilt json-glib dll that works with newer GTKs that
you're welcome to try and see if it works. I'll send through the link
shortly when I'm back at my computer

We're talking about whether or not to include a newer GTK in the next
Pidgin, but there are some downsides such as increased memory usage and
more leaking GDI handles. Emoji support is a key proponent of updating
though.

Another option you can use is one of the unicode-emoji smiley themes, which
convert unicode emoji characters into a png image.

Eion

Hi Myrna,

That's a very very old version of Pidgin, and you should upgrade to 2.13 as
there's been a lot of fixes (including security fixes) since 2.11.

Unfortunately we can't help with your ShortKey macros, you'll need to reach

Re: naming convention

2019-08-26 Thread Eion Robb
Hi Mary,

What kind of chat room are you connecting to? XMPP, IRC or something else?

If you're connecting to an XMPP room, then you can set the 'handle' to
change your nick, eg:
has my handle set to 'eion' and that's how I'd show in that room. You can
get to these options either when using the "Buddies->Join a Chat..." menu,
or if you save the room to your buddy list, you can right-click and choose
"Edit settings..."

IRC will use your username that you have set for the account, so you'll
need to change your IRC username if it's for that kind of account.

Cheers,
Eion

Re: Pidgin does not validate correctly certificate chain

2019-07-09 Thread Eion Robb
Hi Luiz,

(looping in devel and security mailing lists)
Apologies for there not being any follow-up to your ticket. We are just a
bunch of volunteers who work on Pidgin in our spare time, so promptness
isn't always guaranteed.

To help with your ticket, do you have an example server that we can test
against? a) to test if things are broken using NSS instead of gnutls and
b) to verify any potential fixes? It's probably safe to say that the setup
you've got isn't the majority of SSL use-cases and I doubt that any of us
who work on Pidgin would have certs in a similar setup.

I see that you've also had a look through how the code works for the gnutls
verification. Have you had a chance to try fixing the issue yourself? If
so, are there any patches or PR's that you might be interested in supplying
to help speed things along?

Cheers,
Eion

Looks like you're using an older version of the plugin. To be fair I

Re: Reconnecting

2019-06-21 Thread Eion Robb
Hi Phil,

The intermediate cert is needed due to a quirk of the SSL connection, only
on the first connect to the server will it send the intermediate cert,
subsequent connections it expects you to cache the intermediate. Due to
the way Pidgin's SSL system works, it doesn't cache the intermediate, so it
needs to be installed separately.

With the "use alternate auth" in the Skype plugin, thats not just for if
you're using 2FA, but works great for regular auth too. I'll be making it
on by default in the next release.

Cheers,
Eion

Re: Reconnecting

2019-06-20 Thread Eion Robb
Hi Phil,

There's an updated intermediate cert for the Hangouts plugin, that the
Google servers will sometimes send. You can download it from source on
https://bitbucket.org/EionRobb/purple-hangouts/src/default/ or download the
latest version of the .exe installer (assuming you're on windows) which has
the intermediate certs bundled.

For the Skype plugin, you'll want to follow the flowchart
https://github.com/EionRobb/skype4pidgin/tree/master/skypeweb#issues - but
the secret sauce is to turn on the "use alternate auth" setting the
advanced account settings, which bypasses the whole "Magic T" thing.

Cheers,
Eion

Re: Certificate for jabber.calyx.....org could not be validated

2019-06-10 Thread Eion Robb
Hi George,

This isn't really a Pidgin security issue, so cc'ing in the support@
maililng list.

As per the message in the popup, the certificate on the server has
expired. You'll need to get in touch with the admins for that server and
get them to renew the certificate on their server.

Also, I'm not able to connect to their xmpp server, which is why you might
be seeing other people who aren't online, if they're suffering from the
same fate as me.

Re: question about the nickname

Hi Steffen,

If you right-click on a buddy and choose 'Get Info' does the alias for that
user update?
In the XMPP server, is the nickname of the ldap user set to update the
alias in the xmpp roster?

The sender is configured in the client through the 'Local Alias' setting in
Pidgin, through Tools->Accounts->Manage Accounts->{The XMPP
Account}->Modify->Local alias

Ah, you're talking about the pre-built .so's from the build system? Yeah,

You'll want to follow the manual build steps at

I'll see what I can do about adding an x86 target to the build system.

2019-03-19 Thread Eion Robb
Hi there,

After downloading and installing the OTR plugin, did you enable it through
the Tools->Plugins->Off-The-Record Messaging? You'll need to tick the
checkbox next to the name to enable the plugin.

"Not Authorized" can mean a few different things, but the main cause is
when the other person hasn't accepted your friend request.

If you want to block messages from people who aren't on your buddy list,
you can use the Tools->Privacy menu to change your filters to only allow
people who are on your buddy list to contact you.

Cheers,
Eion

Hi Deepshikha,

Oracle users need to contact their Tech Support people. We as Pidgin
developers can't do anything about your server.

Re: Hide New IM Conversations

2019-03-17 Thread Eion Robb
Hi David,

Some other things to check:
* In Tools->Plugins->Message Notification->Configure Plugin do you have it
set up so that 'present conversation window' or 'raise conversation window'
are ticked? This would overrite any setting in the preferences?
* If you set your status to 'Away' or something other than 'Available' then
conversation windows should definitely not pop up
* Is it one particular protocol that has messages popping up? I know that
the Discord plugin has some options that (at the moment) ignore all other
settings and will try to pop open conversation windows if you've
been @mentioned in them
* Are you using any toaster/notification plugins in Tools->Plugins that
might have their own settings regarding how to present new messages?

Cheers,
Eion

Hi there,

There's a few plugins on the
https://developer.pidgin.im/wiki/ThirdPartyPlugins wiki page that let you
send messages from a phone via Pidgin, eg WebPidginZ, pidgin-juice and

Hi again,

The two links are your next steps. If the "less secure apps" link isn't
helping, then switching to two-factor authentication with an app-specific
password or the Hangouts plugin is what you'll need to do.

Re: Unable to connect to Hangouts via Pidgin

2019-03-11 Thread Eion Robb
Hi Anis,

"Not Authorized" means an incorrect password. You'll either need to set up
an app-specific password if you're using two-factor authentication, allow
insecure apps if you're not using two-factor auth, or switch to the
Hangouts plugin which has a different login mechanism.

Re: Google G Suite chat support?

2019-03-07 Thread Eion Robb
Hi Peter,

This page in the FAQ might apply to you
https://developer.pidgin.im/wiki/Protocol%20Specific%20Questions#HowdoIconfigurePidgintoconnecttoGoogleTalkformydomainhostedonGoogleApps
I did notice that your ftllabscorp.com domain didn't have any DNS records
set up for XMPP though.

You might also want to look at the Hangouts plugin, since that doesn't have
any restrictions about non-google email addresses. It doesn't support the
newer "Hangouts Chat" that's part of Gsuite though.

Google's offerings are very confusing at the moment about what will and
won't work, and doesn't help that the naming is all so similar.

Cheers,
Eion

Re: Sudden odd message trying to sign on - corrected msg for length

2019-01-23 Thread Eion Robb
Hi there,

If you're using ICQ, then you'll need to provide your numeric UIN
(123456789) instead of your email address. Just be warned that the old ICQ
protocol could stop working at any moment (other 3rd party ICQ clients were
shut out at the end of last year), and that a new ICQ plugin is in the
works.

Just to double check, were you intentionally trying to connect to an ICQ
account and not a Hangouts or XMPP account?

Cheers,
Eion

Re: XMPP to 8x8 servers

2019-01-17 Thread Eion Robb
Hi again,

Can you confirm what settings you have set in Tools->Plugins->NSS
Preferences->Configure for the Minimum and Maximum TLS/SSL version, and
what version of Pidgin you're using.

According to https://xmpp.net/result.php?domain=uc.8x8.com=client the
server supports TLS1.2 and TLS1.1 but you might have that disabled in your
NSS settings. It also lists out the SSL ciphers that the server supports,
so you can try to match with what you have set.

Cheers,
Eion

Re: XMPP to 8x8 servers

2019-01-17 Thread Eion Robb
If you could try get a debug log (from the Buddy List, Help->Debug Window)
as you're connecting to the account, you should get a "nss: Handshake
failed" error message with an error code. If you could paste that line here
we can see which type of SSL Handshake error you're getting to know how to
solve it.

Re: Pidgin Opens and Closes right away Windows 10

2019-01-14 Thread Eion Robb
Hi Gene,

Sorry to hear you had trouble with getting a debug log. Unfortunately
without either the debug log or the Pidgin.rpt file, there's not much we
can do to help. The Pidgin.rpt file should be the easiest one to get to
and attach to an email, as this file is already created every time there's
a crash in Pidgin. Just as a reminder, that file lives at
%appdata%\.purple\ (you can copy-paste that path into Explorer to jump
straight to the Pidgin config folder).

Unfortunately as you've found, uninstalling/reinstalling Pidgin and
clearing out any registry files won't help with any crashes if there's a
particular plugin or server you're using that's causing a crash. If you
could let us know what version of Pidgin you're using, by right-clicking on
the Pidgin.exe file in your %programfiles%\Pidgin folder, going to the
Details tab and finding the "Product version" entry. It would also help to
know what kind of account you're connecting to in Pidgin; XMPP or IRC or
something like that.

Cheers,
Eion

2019-01-13 Thread Eion Robb
Hi Gene,

Could you check in Task Manager that Pidgin is or isn't running?

If it's not running, it could be crashing when it opens. Just to double
check, can you follow the instructions at
https://developer.pidgin.im/wiki/TipsForBugReports#ObtainingaDebugLog to
get a debug log, and attach it along with the Pidgin.rpt file that lives at
%appdata%\.purple in an email reply back to us. Hopefully one of those two
will shed some light on where the problem is.

Re: ICQ Official announcement

2018-12-23 Thread Eion Robb
Hi Eugene,

Thanks for testing :) There's obviously a few rough edges to the plugin
since it's only 24 hours old, sorry about the old messages appearing.
That's going to keep happening every time you connect to the account for
now.

I don't think there'll be any way to fix receiving old ICQ client messages
- unless they also show up on web.icq.com ? If it helps, the old ICQ
clients won't work after the end of the year anyway.

You can debug everything that's going on through the Pidgin debug log:
from the Buddy List, Help->Debug Window

Eion

Re: ICQ Official announcement

2018-12-20 Thread Eion Robb
Hi Eugene,

We were in touch with the ICQ developers in November about their new
protocol and they were organising some documentation for us about it. The
last email we've had is from near the start of Nov though, so I've reached
back out to them to see if they've got anything available for us yet.

They had assured us that the OSCAR protocol wasn't going away any time soon
though, but they might have changed their minds about that.

Their new protocol, called WIM, is a JSON-over-HTTP/Websockets protocol
that I have some packet captures of (and that I intended to write a new
protocol plugin for) however I was waiting to see if there was any official
documentation before starting on a reverse-engineered plugin - it's always
nicer if there's some official docs to try and help make the protocol more
'stable' and less likely to break if we implement something that's likely
to change on the server side.

Cheers,
Eion

Hi Nagarjuna,

Unfortunately the AIM servers were shut down at the end of last year:
https://help.aol.com/articles/aim-discontinued
To keep using Pidgin, you'll need to switch to a different protocol/server
either with one of the built-in protocols or a third party protocol from
https://developer.pidgin.im/wiki/ThirdPartyPlugins#AdditionalProtocols

Re: Pidgin oddity

2018-11-25 Thread Eion Robb
Hi Phil,

Have you tried using the Message Notification plugin that ships with
Pidgin? (Tools->Plugins->Message Notification) It has the option to
'flash window' and 'remove when conversation window gains focus' which for
me on Win10 keeps the taskbar displaying with a yellow/orange background.

Cheers,
Eion

Re: Pidgin issue

2018-11-20 Thread Eion Robb
Hi Rob,

Google has settings around blocking logging in to accounts from unknown IP
addresses at https://myaccount.google.com/security#activity

You could also try using the Hangouts plugin instead that has a different
authentication method that doesn't provide username and password every time
you connect, which might give you more flexibility about where you can
login from.

Eion

Re: Pidgin Account Won't Connect

2018-11-19 Thread Eion Robb
Hi there,

When you try to connect to the account what error message do you get (at
the bottom of the buddy list)?

If there isn't any connection error, then try getting a debug log as you
disconnect and reconnect to the account. From the buddy list, Help->Debug
Window. Then attach it as a message back to us.

Cheers,
Eion

Hi Aleksandra,

Probably best to continue with the issue you posted on the Facebook plugin
site at https://github.com/dequis/purple-facebook/issues/447

Re: 403 registration failed

2018-11-13 Thread Eion Robb
Hi there,

A 403 error normally means the XMPP server is denying or rejecting
something, eg it could be a duplicate login id or something like that. If
you open the debug log through Help->Debug Window as you try to register
the account, it could provide more information from the server about what
the reason for rejection is.

Eion

Re: Bug

2018-10-26 Thread Eion Robb
Hi there,

If your ICQ account is not in that dropdown list then the account isn't
enabled and/or isn't connected. Try looking in Accounts->Manage accounts,
to make sure that the ICQ account is enabled. Also, check at the bottom of
the buddy list for any connection errors.

Cheers,
Eion
