SeaMonkey Triage Week (2010-12-06 to 2010-12-12)

2010-12-02 Thread Bruno Escherl

Hello everybody!

The SeaMonkey project needs your help triaging our bug reports in
Bugzilla, to reduce the amount of bugs with an unknown status (see [1]).

We have many UNCONFIRMED or NEW bugs where it's not clear if they are
still an issue or not. To get these numbers down to a reasonable level
while focusing especially on the UNCONFIRMED bugs, we need your help
looking at those bug reports.

To make it easier for you, we look at different components each day and
have three time slots each day so everybody should have the chance to
join us on irc.mozilla.org in channel #seamonkey for getting further
help. You can find an overview about the different days and the
timetable on [2].

For those of you who have not triaged bugs before, we provide a guide on
[2] about how to do triaging and what the requirements for it are.

The SeaMonkey team invites everyone to take part in this triage week
starting next Monday. Even if you've never done something like that
before, your help is appreciated!

...but this isn't anything like what is listed for the others. At least
two of these crashes occurred on SM restart attempts, the rest occurred
on opening Mail/News. As I recall...

Only next step I can think of would be to completely destroy/wipe this

And it's getting damn annoying...

That sounds very much like a problem presented elsewhere. One person could not
get to a site that had redirection to a new url. Forecast.weather.gov redirects
to http://www.weather.gov/ . I suggest you try the newer address.

As to what the problem is with Snow Leopard, I'd guess you need to clean out the

Once again, a reboot got SM stable enough to use this install to make
this post.

After reboot, I had the following files in a Recovered Items folder in
my Trash - a plugtmp folder with plugin-300x250.swf and
plugin-728_ink.swf files in it.

In the recent cluster of 11/30/10 crashes the crash reason listed is -

EXC_BAD_ACCESS / KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE

for all of them, and the Signature is -

_moz_cairo_pattern_destroy

...but this isn't anything like what is listed for the others. At least
two of these crashes occurred on SM restart attempts, the rest occurred
on opening Mail/News. As I recall...

Only next step I can think of would be to completely destroy/wipe this
install and rebuild everything...none of my other SM installs on either
of my two other machines are behaving this way - just my MacBook Pro.

And it's getting damn annoying...

What graphics card are you using? Since you're on a MBP, try switching
to the other built-in graphics card.

I'm using the low-power GPU...I'll give it a try, but none of the
history indicates that simply switching GPUs will stop this.

... but macs never crash???

b

My Mac isn't crashing - SeaMonkey is. And *only* SeaMonkey.

One thing I have done to this machine recently is to add more RAM - I
plus-d it up to 8 Gig of RAM from 4. SM began acting up shortly after
that, but none of my other apps - I've run Techtool on the install and
the memory checks good, the machine recognizes and reports it, so I'd
like to think that merely upgrading RAM wouldn't affect SM.

Would/should it?..

Hrm. Try removing the extra 4GB temporarily.

2010-12-02 Thread Anthony Davis
I just did a destructive recovery to clear out my PC.
I re-installed SeaMonkey.
I entered in my required information for POP mail and SMTP mail, but after
getting all the new email in my in box, I tried to send an email to myself. It
keeps saying my password is incorrect but I know that is not true.
I was wondering how to get this to work?
Thanks. Really like SeaMonkey browser It is my favorite but want to send email
without using Internet Explorer.
One thing more, as I have just added some programs I have not yet installed
Norton Internet Security 2011. I plan on doing that ASAP.
I have to send this email using Yahoo! Mail in Windows Internet Explorer 8
because I can't do it otherwise.

If you're talking about forecast.weather.COM as in your subject, yes, I
have a similar problem. If you're talking about forecast.weather.GOV as
in your message body, that one loads fine after redirecting to
http://www.weather.gov.

Should I be reporting this somewhere?

Does this happen if you launch SeaMonkey directly instead of via Alpine?

Which version of SeaMonkey are you using?

Which version/distribution of Linux are you using?

Are you using an official version from the mozilla seamonkey download
site or a version that came with your Linux distribution or repository?

If the latter, you should complain to the package maintainers, since we
have no control on how downstream packagers modify their packages.
