I am not sure where your problem is, but I wanted to assure you that
using SM 1.1.17 with ABP 0.7.5.4, I do not have any specific problem
linked to APB and I guess I am not the only one!

I realize this is an older version, but it does the job and if this
version has limitations, they don't bother me since I am not aware of them!

I am not sure where you can get this older version, ABP site does not
seem to offer a choice of downloads. If needed, I can email it to you.
This might be a better alternative than going to SM 2.0b1, unless you
are eager to discover this new version of SM. Personally, I am perfectly
happy with the present one.

Hope this helps!

Try the one for "Mozilla", Seamonkey's previous name.

Thanks -- tried it, but it didn't work, either. So in desperation, I
tried the "Download" link, then dragged the XPI file to the Seamonkey
window. It worked!

Thanks to everyone for your help. Nothing has worked to solve the
problem of Adblock Plus corrupting the browser window (and in fairness
to Wladimir, I know that ABP isn't actually the culprit). I uninstalled
all extensions, installed an archived older version of ABP, and the
problem resurfaced, forcing me to reinstall Seamonkey once again.

Oh well, I'll just endure the ads until Seamonkey 2.0 is available.

Yep, that's SeaMonkey messing up extension registry. Adblock Plus
1.0.2 tries to work around these issues as much as possible - but
really, there isn't so much you can do. Adblock Plus 1.1 (coming out
today) will no longer support SeaMonkey 1.1. I sincerely recommend
installing SeaMonkey 2.0b1 when it comes out (hopefully in a week) and
giving it a try - despite the beta status. It should have far less
issues than the current release, especially if you are using
extensions.

Jim, I think you could "start with a clean slate" by deleting SeaMonkey
and the delete anything left over in its program folders, then go to
your profile location (*Before* you delete SeaMonkey have a look at
Edit->Mail&Newsgroups Account Settings, select your mail account and
have a look at the bottom of the Server Settings page for your profile
location) and delete anything in your Chrome folder. This should totally
remove any add-on bits and pieces.

Then do a re-installation of SeaMonkey.

Thanks for the info, but I just went through that, due to a Windoze
crash in which Seamonkey lost track of all my e-mail accounts (I did
finally get them back), and am hoping to avoid doing it again.
Nevertheless, if I have to do it again in order to get Adblock Plus
back, I will!

Which add-ons did you add to get the problem? I have no problems with
adblock 1.0.2

Dave

I'm not sure of all of them now, although not many: Monkey Menu, a tab
enhancer (can't remember which one); I also installed Adobe Flash Player
and the Shockwave player. Actually, the problem arose after installing
those two, but not in a way that I could definitely pinpoint either of
them as the cause.

I have 1.0.1 installed, and there is no problem. I recall a recent
announcement that subsequent versions would be compatible with only
Firefox 3.5, whiich would mean SeaMonkey 2.0.

However, the AdBlock Plus Web site indicates 1.0.2 can be used with
Firefox 2 and SeaMonkey 1.1. This is a question that should be
addressed to Wladimir Palant, whose E-mail address is found on
, in the column on the far right.
