Can I somehow force it to "resume" ? nope, thats one of the downsides of SM downloader, you can't restart where you left off. If not, I have another downloader (WinGet 1.9) which is SUPPOSED to resume disconnected downloads and even splits up the connections to speed up downloading. Question 1. Can I force SM 1.1's Downloader to resume? if not I put a dll from WinGet into SM 1.1's plugin folder as required, but WinGet doesn't take over as specified; "WinGet can automatically intercept Netscape's default download dialog. To enable integration with Netscape, copy the file WinNP.dll from the WinGet installation folder to Netscape plug-ins folder and rename it to NPWinGet.dll." Question 2. How can I make SM 1.1 use WinGet it should and not it's own downLoader? SM 1.1's plugins are named npname.dll, but is more needed to be done? I might be wrong here, but I think winget monitors the clipboard. So you need to copy the download link, and when winget sees the download link in the clipboard, then it'll start the download. Question 3. Can I set SM 1.1 up to give me a choice in the Tools Toolbar? No why did my message take over 8 hours to show up? If things were working, then my posting should have been second. But it wasn't. Instead, if my calculations are correct, its over 12 hours later, sometime after Roberts. It showed up on google groups within minutes of posting it, but not on the mozilla server. As a matter of fact, others were able to post here and reply immediately, but not mine. So, who's screwing around with what? DoctorBill wrote: Can I somehow force it to "resume" ? No, you cannot resume in SeaMonkey 1.1 - we're currently working on getting SeaMonkey 2 to use the same download code as Firefox, which can resume downloads, so we hope to have that functionality in 2.0 (it's not even in current nightlies yet). Been working with WinGet 1.9 whilst waiting for someone to answer this post. I added the .dll to SM's plugin folder as directed, but SM 1.1 will not detect the click - it always goes to it's default DM. WinGet shows up in "about:plugins", so I know it is there. WinGet has a button on the Desktop's lower right bar (don't know what that is called) which brings up the WinGet downloader. If I copy and paste, it works quite nicely ! Must admit, I haven't interrupted the download and tried to resume yet. What is strange is that SM 1.1 has had downloads interrupted and resumed in the past - just wouldn't do it for this download: http://www.brothersoft.com/d.php?soft_id=98431&url=http%3A%2F%2Ffiles.brothersoft.com%2Fdvd_video%2Fvideo_conversion%2FFFSetup1_65.exe From Googling about SM's downloader for a while, I see that resuming is not one of its better functions. DoctorBill ERASE...ERASE. Now after having rebooted Windows twice, WinGet 1.9 throws up a frame and starts downloading I also made sure that the Download option in Edit | Preferences was set to "do nothing". OK - it is working - for now. I like the way WinGet 1.9 works (it is Freeware)but I haven't tried an interruption to see if it resumes well. http://www.321download.com/LastFreeware/page17.html#WinGet There are newer versions, but they're not free. Download Manager won't resume DL'ing a partially loaded file
I have been using the DownLoader that came with SM 1.1 and it usually works fine.
