Hello, there Grease World,
I live in Northern CA and am in the process of deciding whether to join the
club. I am interested in WVO (and probably an older Mercedes model) but I need
to talk to some experienced folks as part of my research. I was thinking about
a 2-tank system, but during the

Hi all.
I read something about glyc-sawdust logs. I can imagion what they look like,
but how do you make them in a way that you don't get black hands every time
you pick one up ?

Either Single Tank or Two Tank will work for you in the older Mercedes
in this situation and climate, as long as you have an electric SVO
heater as part of your system (like our VEG-Therm) so that you are not
dependent on coolant operated heating alone. That allows for very fast

I think transporting 500gal (3,000lbs) of flammable material would also require
a commercial drivers license with Haz-Mat and liquid material endorsements.
Personal use would not exempt you. However, I think farm use is still exempt.

Hey folks,
I'm just entering the biodiesel realm, planning to travel around the country on
biodiesel or WVO, and looking for some advice about vehicle selection. I am
looking at a 1980 mercedes 300TD. The car looks like its in good shape, 143k

Frankly speaking, don't know. However, some companies in Japan seems to make
good effort in trading of CO2 as per Kyoto protocol.

Is it the same problems with processed boidiesel or is it only the SVO that

that stands the biodiesel or even better, that stands the SVO?

Hello Alex.
In a sunny and hot enviromment, a simple way to heat the veg oil with the
sun before filtering it is to put the oil into small black plastic
containers like the ones use to sell lubricating oils and expose them to
the sun much higher temperatures can be archived inside a good

jugs the oil comes in!
This will accelerate and enhance the gravity settling of contaminants
out of the oil (normally just done at room temperature in an
undisturbed, unheated jug or drum)
Also, for prefiltering, if you
I found the translucent plastic jugs the oil comes in here, which are
thin, allowed faster heating, highest temperatures, and of course it
was simple since I collect the oil in those jugs. Here, they come in a
cardboard box, and so you just remove the jugs and set them in the sun

In any case, SVO is not nearly as good a solvent as biodiesel. The

Spare us the scare tactics. SVO's proven itself to a much greater
extent than what you suggest, and many on this list know that to be

So then how about if we give the US to Vanuatu? They do at least have
in common that they're both reported to be sinking (albeit in
somewhat different waters), the one largely because of the other, so
it seems fair to me. No need to ask Washington, but maybe we could
ask the Amerinds.

My two cents:
I think straight vegetable oil is ok if done
correctly. Certainly, bio (soy/canola) diesel is more
easily distributed and ready made but I think there
are regions of high population density than can take
advantage of vegetable oil as fuel source. For

Cities-built-anew are conceptualized first and all citizens can be players
at this level. It will be interesting to see what sort of conceptual plans
are presented for WUF V in 2006.
