BERLIN (AP) - Like most of the world's track stars running at the
ISTAF meet Friday, Maurice Greene is aiming to send a loud and
clear signal to the competition before the Olympics. Whether it's
Greene, Marion Jones, or Morocco's Hicham El Gu
That Ottey could clock a 10.99, or Johnny Gray could
run a 1:46, or Eamon Coghlan, Steve Scott and John
Walker could all take legitate shots at a 3:59 mile,
all at age 40, is not so unbelievable given where
they are coming from. Of COURSE they should be able
to do it or come close.

Yes it was legal. I was there, I do not remember the wind, but if there was any it
would have been a headwind. That 8.33 tied his personal best, and he also had a 8.30
from behind the board. If he can put it together in Sydney he will be a definite
factor. He is quite capable of going 8.50.
