Lloyd,
There is a JAWS script for Sound Forge. It's by Jim
Snowbagger and costs I think 30 bucks. Just google JAWS script Sound Forge or
something like that and you'll find his page.
That's all I know about it, other than one person who's been using my
Window-Eyes script said the JAWS script
And every time other than one major revision early on this video driver issue
has been fixed by Microsoft, not GWMicro. It's probably just some generic video
backend they use in preview builds. But time will tell.

I have found that sometimes, if WE creates those error tones, that I can get
back in business by restarting it with ctrl-Alt-W. One place where I need
this video functionality is Sound Forge Audio Studio 10, which I run under
Windows 10 with Window-Eyes 9.5.4. I haven't really tried it with
I didn't even know WE had remote assistance until maybe a month ago, sigh.

I agree with you Don. Not to menschen that about 3 years ago GW Micro had
the certification program so that people could get certified in it.

We all have to fully understand that Window Eyes developement and
support is over. Use it until it stops working but take a look at NVDA
to see how well it works.

Speaking of remote assistance, I assume that will also go away once the GW

I have some news. After staying on hold for about two-and-a-half hours, I
told the guy my problem, and he said "That's weird". I asked him if he
wanted to remote into my computer, and he said: "I can only remote into
your computer if you are using jaws. We don't support window eyes anymore.
Hi Orlando:
This has been my experience also. WE still works, to a degree, but, with
the video driver issue, there are drawbacks to using it with Insider builds.
However, with the current stable version of Windows 10, WE is working just
fine. I'm typing this right now with WE rocking along.
While it might not hurt to take the JAWS offer, no one should be made to
feel foolish for not doing it, regardless of one's own opinion. Whether to
switch to JAWS or not is Butch's prerogative.
Personally, I could not take advantage of the offer due to my version of WE
being out of date. Voc
I'm almost with you Butch. I didn't get to start until 1984, and for a
while, no access tech other than a TI 99/4A. Fun stuff. I have even been
able to emulate the TI using MAME. A weird experience, but, it can be fun.
And, it is actually emulated pretty well, from what the few 99'ers out

Which is why I will most likely be making the switch as soon as finances
permit, even though it'll be long after this migration deal is done. I still
remember at least some of what I knew when I used JAWS before making the WE
switch so it hasn't been quite as difficult getting back into it as I
I've been in the Windows 10 insider preview program almost since its inception.
Window-eyes has not worked for me using the past four insider previews,
including the latest creator edition. I get video driver error tones upon
launching Window-eyes, and many programs containing cursor and text
And this is where I wish I'd had the money to keep my SMA current so that I
could! take advantage of this offer. JFW is still not my favorite product
but as has been pointed out NVDA might not meet my needs in the long run.
Focus your powers and prepare for buttle.

And what if you find NVDA does not meet your needs in the long run?
After all, NVDA isn't made by God. As I said, if you never use Jaws,
you can not come up with a rational justification for not taking
advantage of a free offer.

I already know how jaws works, that is why when the day finally comes,
I'll learn nvda.
I've only been doing this stuff since 1983, but I guess 'm just not
smart. Let me see, jaws is the screen reader built by God, thou shalt
not put other screen readers before me.

You would be smart to take the Jaws offer and start learning it so that when
that day comes you have an idea how Jaws works.
