At one time I had problems with eighth inch plugs as opposed to 3.5mm plugs. The 3.5mm are slightly larger and fit the jacks better. I haven't seen this problem for a long time though. Possibley you have an old pair of earphones with the eighth inch plug instead of the the 3.5mm plug. At 0

Hi Robin, I've had the same problem hooking my IPhone headphone jack to a set of external speakers, and I solved the problem by plugging a audio extension cord into the IPhone jack and then plugging the speakers into it. The simple fact is that not all plugs fit the same. Hth, Rod -Original
