Linette, I think the problem here is that no one has clarified exactly what you're experiencing. When you open a message with a link you can't access do you hear the word "link" before or after it? I forget which is the default. If you can you should be able to tab or L/Shift-L to it and

if you used a keyboard you would press enter on the combo box to turn browse mode off then use alt down arrow to go through the list then tab to get to the next combo box and alt down arrow for this one too. both with browse mode off. i don't know how you would do this with brail.
