objection to that. Actually Doug wasn't even aware that the name had been
used by Malcolm. Later GW Micro released Window-Eyes for Windows as, as you
know, Vocal-Eyes was a DOS screen reader.

RE: Editing headers and footers: Word 2010.

2016-11-01 Thread Rod Hutton via Talk
Hi Vaughan,

Below is a URL to a Jaws tutorial page with info on using word.
I have pasted the specific info on accessing headers and footers.
Note that the shortcut Alt-V,H toggles between the normal Word document pane
and the header or footer pane, whichever is selected, while the up and down
arrows switches between header and footers.
It's a bit confusing at first, but, once you see how it works, it's fairly
simple.
See if you can get the hang of it.
Here's the info you need:

Word Shortcuts for Jaws Screen Reader

http://www.geocities.ws/jawsnotes/word.htm

Headers and Footers
Quick method:  Alt V, H  or Alt to move to Menus.  Arrow across to View.
Select Headers and Footers from drop down menu
Preset tabs in header and footer:  Centre tab at about 7.6 and a right tab at
about 15.  These do not adjust to changed margins and will have to be adjusted
if you want to line up header and footer for margins other than the default.
Down arrow and Up arrow to switch between Footer and Header

Hth,

Rod

Hi all.

Some assistance please: I seem unable to edit headers and footers in a Word
document, using Word 2010. Window-eyes latest.

I find the "edit header" and "edit footer" menus off the insert menu via the
ribbon but header and footer text is not read. I know the headers and footers
are in the document - I put them there to begin with.

So: user error somewhere.

All help appreciated.

Vaughan.

Re: history of window eyes

2016-11-01 Thread Curtis Delzer via Talk
I believe my first window-eyes was 3.1, and that was with a buddy. :) I
had A S A P for dos, and vocal-eyes also which I'd bought back in the
windows 95 days, then 98, then XP for probably 11 years. :) Fascinating
stuff to hear some of the history.
I had an Artic synthesizer, and business/vision software in the very
beginning, but you know how it goes; the internet intrudes and then
you find out about all the other "good" stuff. :)

Eset

2016-11-01 Thread Rebecca Lineberger via Talk
Clarification or further obfuscation.

The web site says Eset NOD32 10, which no doubt is correct. Smile. But I
just renewed several days ago and my updated license is for version 9. I'm
still using version 8. The version listed when I check for product update
is version 9.

Either the update function has not caught up with the new version, or one
has to have 9 installed before 10 can go in, unlike Window-Eyes, which can
skip versions.

It's a moot point anyway, since nothing beyond 8 is accessible.

I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service.

Some sites open a new window when you enter on a result. I have never used
that site, so I don't know how it behaves. But you might have needed to try
a different tab in Firefox, or if you were through with your result, hit
ctrl-W, which only closes the tab you are in. Of course, if this is the only
