Pat,

I know it is frustrating, but since this is happening to you and you are
right there, there are things you already know that we don't know so it
isn't easy to know what to tell you. Can we assume, for example, that your
computer is booting up and that speech is starting? Did the monitor work
all right at some point in Windows 10? I assume it must have worked for the
person who helped you be certain that the upgrade completed. Is this a
desktop computer so that there is only one display connected, that being
your monitor? Is there some kind of light on the monitor indicating for
certain that it is receiving power and is turned on? Of course, checking
the cable as has already been suggested makes good sense. If all of these
assumptions are true, then it is probably worth rebooting a few times with
the monitor on to make sure it is correctly detected. Possibly some part of
the upgrade didn't complete regarding the detection of your monitor. Is
there any chance that you have a s
eparate video output for a projector and that your monitor is connected to
that output? I am running Windows 10 and I have an LCD monitor that I
routinely leave off but turn on when needed and that is working for me, so
there isn't anything about Windows 10 that would prevent that from happening
unless it is related to your specific setup. I am sorry if this seems vague
or unresponsive, but we could be assuming things that are not the case in
our answers.

Best regards,

Steve Jacobson

What exactly is on the screen? If it’s just blank either in display settings
the display is turned off or your video cable is disconnected or there’s a
problem with your display adapter, etc.

more info please.
if no other programs have been installed there would only be one icon, the
recycle bin.
windows 10 puts most programs in the start menu in the apps list.
including window eyes. if you want desktop icons you have to create them
manually.
i think in the sys tray there is the option to hide or unhide the desktop
icons.
i think w e will still work with the desktop hidden.
if you can get to windows update i would check there to see if maybe there
is a video driver update that need to be installed.
it could be several things.
if you move the mouse if you have one does the screen wake up? if so the
screen saver may be activating
it could be going into sleep mode. but in this mode it usually turns
speech off.
these settings would be in the control panel in power settings.

RE: Have No View

2020-04-05 Thread Steve Jacobson via Talk
Pat,

I know it is frustrating, but since this is happening to you and you are right
there, there are things you already know that we don't know so it isn't easy to
know what to tell you. Can we assume, for example, that your computer is
booting up and that speech is starting? Did the monitor work all right at some
point in Windows 10? I assume it must have worked for the person who helped
you be certain that the upgrade completed. Is this a desktop computer so that
there is only one display connected, that being your monitor? Is there some
kind of light on the monitor indicating for certain that it is receiving power
and is turned on? Of course, checking the cable as has already been suggested
makes good sense. If all of these assumptions are true, then it is probably
worth rebooting a few times with the monitor on to make sure it is correctly
detected. Possibly some part of the upgrade didn't complete regarding the
detection of your monitor. Is there any chance that you have a s
eparate video output for a projector and that your monitor is connected to
that output? I am running Windows 10 and I have an LCD monitor that I
routinely leave off but turn on when needed and that is working for me, so
there isn't anything about Windows 10 that would prevent that from happening
unless it is related to your specific setup. I am sorry if this seems vague or
unresponsive, but we could be assuming things that are not the case in our
answers.

Best regards,

Steve Jacobson

u can go into setting themes, personalization, related
settings, and there is an option to placeicons like this computer,
recycle, control panel, user folder and more there. for your apps you
need to create them if they don't automatically put one on the desktop when
you install the app.

What exactly is on the screen? If it’s just blank either in display settings
the display is turned off or your video cable is disconnected or there’s a
problem with your display adapter, etc.
