Hi,
My original question on this thread was how to close a programme and
give focus to the desktop while using Jaws and have speech.

Upon exiting a programme like Thunderbird with alt F4, where Window-Eyes
gave focus to the Desktop with speech, Jaws does not. Well, on my system
anyway. The only way I can give focus to the Desktop and have speech is
to to press Windows d after exiting the programme.

Pressing Windows m or Windows d does give focus to the Desktop with
speech but the programme has only been minimized and not closed.

By just using alt F4, can anyone exit a programme or drive, give focus
to the Desktop with Jaws talking.

Thanks
Neville.

it depends on what is opened on the screen.
have someone watch while you do it.
try this with the w e control panel or a jaws settings screen opened while wlm
is opened. windows m will minimize the wlm screen but the w e control screen or
jaws settings screen will still be opened. if you use windows d everything will
minimize. both ways will put the screen reader focus on the desktop but windows
m will not minimize the w e control screen or jaws settings screen.

Net Bat, I am using W10 Home with all updates.

Alt tab does nothing as regards bringing back the speech when returning

always automatically gave focus to the Desktop after leaving a programme.
