I have had no trouble obtaining data from various governments here in Utah. Once they made me do a GRAMA[1] and the data is not always readily available for download, but so far I have gotten what I asked for at the city of Salt Lake, the transit agency UTA as well as the state GIS dept AGRC. [1]

I've attempted to use the address merge script. However I'm getting an error message when merging. I'm sure the error is due to the operator not the script. The script hangs with an TypeError: must be string or read-only buffer, not None. Rather than pursue the problem, I'm going continue with

I just moved to the Deale, Maryland area and am working on cleaning up the Tiger data and mapping as many POI as I can. I found that the shoreline here, though, is very rough. Along the Chesapeake Bay the TIGER/LineĀ® 2008 Place Shapefiles appears to outline the separation of water and land
