Title: Re: 4.1 release MSIs

Hi Maxim,

today i install the msi over last ufficial version 4.0.38.
http://www.ritlabs.com/download/files3/the_bat/thebat_pro_4-1-3.msi

This upgrade delete the messages from 30 november to 21 dicembre. All lost...
I don't know if it is important, but on 30 november i saved with a backup all my data.
Now go back on 4.0.38 and restore correctly.

Re: Problems with Quick Templates

2008-12-21 Thread MAU
Hello Rick,

I have noticed a rather annoying problem with quick templates
When I invoke them in an email i am (say) fowarding they always chew
off the first word or so of the email even if the cursor is in the
 SUBJECT or TO field.

I know of the feature where it will take the handle upon pressing
CONTROL-SPACE but this chews up anything

I can't confirm with any of the QTs I normally use. Could you post a QT
that does that?

I always think of alternatives to Gmail (although I have been with
them since early beta days). Do you have a suggestion for an
alternative? My backup email since 1997 has been Yahoo Mail... but
I'd prefer something else for primary. I can't stand AOL (too many
ads and messy software packages), but what about Fastmail.fm? Anyone
here use Fastmail? It is a global mail provider. And it uses IMAP if
you only pay a small annual fee.

If anyone here has used Fastmail, what has your experience with it

Thanks for any help.

Re: Group Mailing wrong Templates

Hello Jens,

This is how I include To: addresses in my folder templates, for example
 for this list:

 %IF:'%TOADDR'='':'%TO=tbbeta@thebat.dutaint.com'

Try it and see what happens.

 Yes, this works,

I know it works, that's why I use it :)

but why do i have to exclude that there is no TO set in a new Mail?

What was happening to you is an example of why, but I'll give another
example.

Assume this was my new message template for my TBBeta folder:

,- [ ]
| Hello all,%TO=tbbeta@thebat.dutaint.com
|
| %Cursor
|
|
`-

If while reading your message I want to write to you by PM (new message,
not reply), I would right click on the From field in the headers pane
and select 'Write a Message to This Address' from context menu. The new
message window (editor) opens and... what do I have in the To: field?

This: Jens Franik je...@gmx.de, tbbeta@thebat.dutaint.com

Why? Because I selected your address and because the folder template
include the list address. Which is correct because as Thomas wrote to
you in this same thread, The %TO macro adds an address to the TO
field.

Now, if my TBBeta folder template is as I have it:

,- [ ]
| Hello all,%IF:'%TOADDR'='':'%TO=tbbeta@thebat.dutaint.com'
|
| ...
`-

When I select your name in the From field and select 'Write a Message to
This Address', I only get 'Jens Franik je...@gmx.de' in the To field
of the new message because the folder template 'sees' that the To field
is NOT empty and does NOT add the tbbeta address.

This is my way of trying to avoid unintentionally sending PM to a list
because of folder templates.

Just a note to everyone thinking about using this (last
non-upgrade-fee) version until he's ready to pay for the next version:

This version seems to suffer from a bug in the sorting office that
does not allow to change a memo that is set as action. When you
change the memo text to be set it is not saved!

I am going back to 4.0.32.4 as this is the last version that does not
suffer from that bug and the other serious bug that makes messages
disappear when folder properties are changed (introduced in 4.0.34 I
think).

Or does anyone have a more stable version pre 4.1.1.1?

to see if the message queue was helped by the change. With this current version

I think if you used a 4.1.x beta or a high version of 4.0.39.x series
you will have the newer indexes on your message base and you cannot

I'm afraid I have to give that a try. Downloaded it and will give it a try.

 Thanks for your usefull replies!

Well, now we detected your problem!!.

Here it's your solution:

Edit batskin.xml

Search this string

  size id=ToolbarIcons width=32 height=32 /

Change it with this one

  size id=ToolbarIcons width=48 height=48 /

You will get the icons a bit scaled but I think you will love this
solution ;-)

If you don't have this XML (I don't know if it's deployed with the
original MSI) I suggest you to use the MAU Yellowish Icons. The old
link MAU placed on this list now returns a 404, so I placed them on my
website (any problem with it MAU?)

Yes I know it. But this bug was placen on 20 Apr 2008.

I will love also the date when Ritlabs takes an eye to TheBat! wishes
BT and solves some easy wishes of their users.

As example of my wishes. There are a lot more from other users:

https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/view.php?id=7360

The main wish for a lot of users it's good IMAP, all of people know
it's a bit difficult to do and we need to wait a bit more.

So, why not to take some easy wishes and do them?

FIXED - slow import/export and stop respondning in editor

2008-12-21 Thread Marek Mikus
Hello all,
I have checked many places to find reason of my problems last days and
found completely full TEMP in Documents and Settings, there were 65600
zero-size TB's TMP files. Do not understand why they appeared and stayed
there and how could TB produce so many TMP files, but now I understand why
additional TMPs appeared in TB's working directory and in D: drive...

As I am writing fifth mail since I have deleted all TMP files and have no
responding problem in editor, this seems cured this issue too.

I don't know if what I have experienced (some message bodies not being

you mean by message queue freeze), but I am still seeing that problem with
Gmail's IMAP several times a day. And I'm almost never seeing it with
Thunderbird (I use it as a test program), so somehow the two programs
have a difference in their server processing protocol. The technology
is at least 1,000 meters over my head, of course.
