RSS-Newsfeed-Plugin

I am not sure if I wrote this in a way that it's understood. My
filter is creating the folders that starts with ;5C (e.g. ;5Cheise
 mobil News).

Yes, and removing the ;5C will eliminate the folder naming problem.

Ok fine. But how about finding the bug that puts ;5C in front of a
folder name? I can only think of the filter. But there is nothing
indicating to me that should do it.

I can't imagine that the purpose is to edit my folder names by
hand. So I think there must be somewhere a mistake but I just don't
know what or where. BTW - this error prevents the proper filtering
and all feeds are under the Inbox 'without' folder.

 Indeed.

You mean by 'indeed' that users should edit, something TB! automatic
process is creating, by hand?

It should look like this when I look at the sample page on the
RITlabs server (sse the last picture of that page):
 http://www.ritlabs.com/en/products/thebat/tips_detail.php?ID=2294

A number of things on that tips page don't work right.

Can you pls be a bit more specific what is not working and how the
correction should be? I am not good enough knowing such details.

Many thanks.

BTW - I will delete the account and remake it to see if conditions
change. Will report back.

Eddie,

Anyway, I hope you all can make use of this.

BTW - what RDDfeeder would you recommend to more easily create the
opml or xml file through exporting? It should be a slick tool with no
much of fancy functions. Just the ability in adding a feed and then
exporting it. And free to use.

I used Thunderbird. There are easier clients for RSS, but this is the
one that gave me an opml file format that works.

Your last entry in https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/view.php?id=6644
suggests that you have a solution.

Otherwise, my suggestion would be to delete the folders, and manually
create new ones to which the filters then should be manually adjusted.

I meant (as I recall), 'My friends and fellow spirits. H... In
hindsight, fellow spiritual beings would have been better.

From Freetranslations.com comes my next question:

Würde „Mit geistige Wesen“ sind besser? Oder vielleicht „Mitschöpfungen vom
Göttlichen“?

You can see that I use a machine translation, which is, I am sure,
not a precise or smooth translation.

Perhaps a Poltergeist guided my hands on the keyboard with the first
English being submitted to the translating software.

Is this list being read in the afterworld?

That, I cannot answer! You might ask the late General George Patton,
who believed very strongly in reincarnation (I am not wise enough to
evaluate that), and so could indeed be reading these messages before
he returns to human form as a living saint, having tired of the
senseless slaughter of battle.

And, to return to topic before we are both censured - 4.1.9.3
continues to run very smoothly, apart from the not uncommon lags in
Gmail IMAP when loading a queue of message bodies in the Inbox. And I
am sure that a major effort is (or will be) coming to improve/rebuild
TB's IMAP function.

Hello Bob,

 Göttlichen“?

Well... I'm absolutely sure there is no Mit geistige Wesen or
Mitschöpfungen
vom Göttlichen in any kind of German literature.

What exactly do you want to say? There are native German speakers on the list,
I'm sure we'll find a good translation.

You can see that I use a machine translation, which is, I am sure,
not a precise or smooth translation.

These machine translations are definitely  far away from a good translation;
do you know www.leo.org ? Basically it is a dictionary but it also contains a
lot of set phrases. And in the forum native speakers often provide additional
help.

Re: RSS-Newsfeed-Plugin

2009-01-18 Thread MAU
Hello Eddie,

Glad to see you got it working.

snipped quite a bit

BTW - what RDDfeeder would you recommend to more easily create the
opml or xml file through exporting? It should be a slick tool with no
much of fancy functions. Just the ability in adding a feed and then
exporting it. And free to use.

Anyone will do, even Internet Explorer, as long what you are dealing
with and doing. That is, you are using a plugin called RSS2POP to
convert RSS feeds to POP (email) that TB can import. Therefore, this
'email' must contain some mandatory headers (From, To, Subject, etc.)
and also contain some 'user headers' (X- type). This plugin specifically
generates:

X-outline-title:
X-outline-text:
X-parent-outline-text:

Two of which are used in the recommended (not mandatory) filter. And
it happens that RSS2POP 'constructs' these headers from the outline
XML elements (it seems to accept parent also) and sub-elements, and
their corresponding 'text' and/or 'title' attributes, in an OPML file.
'Text' is a mandatory attribute and 'tile' is not.

Here you have a couple of excerpts from:

http://www.opml.org/spec2#whatIsAnLtoutlinegt

,- [What is an outline? ]
| An outline is an XML element containing at least one required
| attribute, text, and zero or more additional attributes. An outline
| may contain zero or more outline sub-elements. No attribute may be
| repeated within the same outline element.
`-

,- [ Subscription lists ]
| A subscription list is a possibly multiple-level list of subscriptions
| to feeds. Each sub-element of the body of the OPML document is a node of
| type rss or an outline element that contains nodes of type rss.
|
| Today, most subscription lists are a flat sequence of rss nodes, but
| some aggregators allow categorized subscription lists that are
| arbitrarily structured. A validator may flag these files, warning that
| some processors may not understand and preserve the structure.
|
| Required attributes: type, text, xmlUrl. For outline elements whose type
| is rss, the text attribute should initially be the top-level title
| element in the feed being pointed to, however since it is user-editable,
| processors should not depend on it always containing the title of the
| feed. xmlUrl is the http address of the feed.
|
| Optional attributes: description, htmlUrl, language, title, version.
| These attributes are useful when presenting a list of subscriptions to a
| user, except for version, they are all derived from information in the
| feed itself.
`-

I wasn't born knowing this, but I did some googling and reading ;-)
