Design issue. Anyone can set X-Rogue headers as he or she wants to ...

Don't you think that rogues only depend on the sender's email
address?

So my proposal is to

  (a) Look up rogues only with the sender's email address as the key.
  (b) Change the X-Rogue header to just say »X-Rogue: Yes«.
  (c) Change the rogue database to store more than one email
addresses per entry (people usually have more than one mail
  address)

(or use picons ...)

Comments?

BTW it's quite simple to annoy TB! users these days. Setting the
X-Mail-Chat header, setting someone else's rogue header, using
symbols that TB! replaces with strange symbols. Hm.

A lot of the smilies (and abbreviations) seem to come directly from
some sort of IM slang ... but this is *e-mail*

The use of smilies is extremely customizable by editing pdsf.msl. So
please limit the smilies you deliver together with the release to
the absolute minumum and then let the counter-strike clans customize
and add their headshot, knifed and gun icons. I don't need that in

Picons

So... You want to slow down your news reader even more! This is a
good way to do so. It's also a great way to impress people staring
over your shoulder as you read news.

What are Picons? To quote directly from the Picons Web site:

Picons is short for personal icons. They're small,
constrained images used to represent users and domains on the net,
organized into databases so that the appropriate image for a given
e-mail address can be found. Besides users and domains, there are
picon databases for Usenet newsgroups and weather forecasts. The
picons are in either monochrome `XBM' format or color `XPM' and
 `GIF' formats.

For instructions on obtaining and installing the picons databases,
point your Web browser at
`http://www.cs.indiana.edu/picons/ftp/index.html'.

You mustn't confuse boxquotes with quotings as used in reply

Hm, actually the bq Quick Template doesn't wrap any text, does it?

Maybe I don't understand your question. You have a long line and
want it to be boxquoted like

,

Of course you could easily combine boxquoting with wrapping (the QT
Januk posted earlier on this list), but I usually boxquote text that
I don't want to be additionally wrapped. YMMV.

 macros from plug-ins.
[*] New syntax for macros: it is now possible to use brackets instead
of =... (in some cases it is now required - see below). Plus,
quotation marks are not required for one-word or one-macro parameters.
 Like %IF:%CCLIST==:CC is empty:%CCLIST

--8---cut here---start-8---
%SetPattRegExp=(.*?)x(.*?)
%RegExpBlindMatch=AAAxBBB
%Subpatt='1'
%Subpatt='2'
--8---cut here---end---8---

%Subpatt gives an empty result. I'd expect this macros to print

AAA
BBB

But all I get is

AAA

I believe all my QTs using Regular Expressions are broken now ;-O

The Bat! - suggestions

2002-01-15 Thread Carsten Thönges

Hello The Bat! developers,

  I'm using The Bat! Version 1.54 Beta/28
  Serial Number B5770FAF
under Windows NT 5.0 Build 2195 Service Pack 2.

There are some features I would like to see in your program:

There should be dialog boxes in TB! asking the user:

  | You haven't compressed your folders for n days/weeks. Do you want
  | to compress all your folders now?
  |
  |[Yes, compress them] [No, don't compres now]

  | There are nnn TB!-temp-files older than nnn days in your temp
  | folder. Do you want to delete them now?
  |
  | [Yes, delete them] [No, do nothing]

These dialog boxes could pop up every week or so, when exiting or
  starting TB!.

Regards,
  Carsten Thönges

Re: 8859-15 / statement in German newsgroup

2002-01-11 Thread Carsten Thönges

Hi Günther,

GE | But when I type the EUR character in The Bat, then it's not sent with
GE | coding a4, but with 80

I can confirm this.

GE | This means that you can see 8859-15, but you can't send it. At least the
GE | result on receiver's side is dependent on how exactly it follows the
GE | 8859-15. On Windows machines that use the same codepage which is common in
GE | Germany, this should be no problem. On different operating systems or in
GE | different countries it could be a mess.

GE Can someone here confirm what he writes?

I can.

My steps to reproduce (2 ways):

I - I created mail with Latin-9 encoding (and EUR-Symbols in it).
   - Sent it to my local smtp server (hamster).
   - Opened the message from the Mail.out directory with a hex-editor:
   EUR-Symbols were displayed as 0x80.
   - Changed one 0x80 to 0xa4 and reimported the message to TB!:
both (80 and a4) were displayed as an EUR-Symbol.

--- So: viewing is okay, sending isn't.

II - Account properties: [x] Send 8bit as QP.
   - Create message with Latin-9 and some EUR-Symbols.
   - View message's source: EUR-Symbol is displayed as =80.

I'm no expert in Latin-9 stuff, but _if_ this is a bug, then it is a
very serious one.

GE How could possible solutions look like?

Wait for a bugfix from Ritlabs. Don't use Latin-9 :-(

Re: RTF Viewer Signatures

2001-12-14 Thread Carsten Thönges

Hi Matthias,

MF has anybody also noticed an odd behaviour of the rich text viewer
MF concerning signature formatting?

MF For example if you setup a different text colour for signatures and
MF there is more then one -- in a displayed mail then only the text
MF below the last -- is displayed in your chosen colour.

This is okay for me. Reading messages from a mailing list is easier if
you receive a daily digest with lots of '-- '.

Hi Peter,

CT in the preview pane everything is okay, but double click an html-mail
CT and you'll see: there are no header information (to:, from:, subject:
CT etc) displayed (in the gray box ;-)

CT Still confused? ;-)

PP Yes.

We're _not_ talking about the Ctrl+Shift+k headers!
It's all about the Ctrl+Shift+h header information ;-)
(Menu: View - Message Header - Show)

Steps to reproduce:

- Double click an html-mail (folder view opens)
- If you look at the mail in (TB!-)html-mode you'll see no header
information as you would in text mode. Switch between the Tabs '1'
and 'message.htm' (text part and html-part).
