Thanks for the note.

I tried to run the Association feature. I'm still getting Adobe
Acrobat Professional opening Outlook instead of The Bat when I try to
send an e-mail.

Not quite sure how to get around this problem. However, the new
feature did not solve it.

I've been paying close attention of a long period of time. I'm a long
time member of the list.

My point was focus on moving away from general statements to concrete
points.

I understand the point on frustration. What I find continually
frustrating is broad based general statements that are not
substantiated. Being specific is, in my opinion, an important element
of beta testing any piece of software.

> If users were endlessly complaining we would be offering a litany of

As just mentioned, if something is not working, I hope that it will be
added to the bug track or the issue would be added to an existing bug
track point.

Appreciate your follow up notes.

Ouch!

What is bugged in this version?

And,

What is it exactly that is required in IMAP? I keep hearing, reading and
observing endless "complaints". If its a complaint, so be it. If its
a real IMAP bug, report in bug track.

IMAP works and it is functional. It may not be what you want, yet, it
does work.

If it's not working for you, maybe there is another client you should
try for consideration.

I grow weary of the "blind shots" that are not well documented simply
listed here in the forum. Your message, "... totally useless version
for using IMAP" is in accurate because it does work. Put the concern
in the bug track or give a link to the specific existing bug track
item. Otherwise, enough of the generalizations and blind shots!

I for one, just want to get on with testing and applying the product.

I only had the problem take place once yesterday.

To reproduce it.

1. Select a part of the message

2. Click on F4 for a reply with the selected text

3. Then a window opened with nothing in the text

4. The program was locked in a cycle of the same windows.

5. Open Task Manager and closed the program.

6. Restarted the program with no problem.

Once I restarted the program, I repeated steps 1 & 2. No problem was
reported and I was able to send the required message.

I am running Windows Vista Ultimate on a dual core machine with two
monitors

I really can reproduce this problem in a reliable manner. However it
has happened under the above stated conditions.

I work as a QA guy and as much as I can tell the fact that something was done
instead of fixing a bug, doesn't mean the guys aren't working on the 'real'
thing.

I rather assume that someone was thinking hard about how to fix a bug and
needed some distraction or had some spare time after work and thought that's a
nice idea, let's do that. Guess it took around 10 minutes to implement the
stuff, far more time was spent from us to complain or praise about this
'feature'.

On the other side, I get complains because I write a bug report for a minor
glitch that I saw on the way to a bigger problem. People always thinking that I
invested my precious time to find these.

Could someone please mark it as a dead horse?

Who decides if a feature is useful or not?

In my opinion: Exactly this list is a place to *discuss* it - it's not
you who *decide* it - I think...

Anyway: If Ritlabs implements a feature it should be implemented in a
good way - and this contains also a cosmetic view.

Your point is well made. There are a wide variety of excellent
readers out there that do a great job.

I work in an environment where people want one software program that
can do both. I also realize that is not in the best interest of The
Bat! That is why I support The Bat focusing its work in IMAP and
e-mail functionality. An RSS module would be great. However, it is not
the priority right now. I just mentioned it given the constant
complaining I hear from clients.

BTW, thanks for providing the list of RSS Readers. I will share that

Dont even leave any trace of it!!

Shit... More and more users send me angry emails that they are
tricked: they have automated update and they let the program do it.
Result is: Evaluation copy.

THIS IS A SERIOUS BUSINESS ISSUE!! Ritlabs' business
attitude is down the toilet. Users blame me, curse, etc.

It should NEVER happen...

DO SOMETHING TODAY

Very few of them upgrade, some say they delete TB, and angry. Very
angry. One is a journal editor and he will write about it. It will be
a very negative article about TB's business attitude. I am sorry, but
I cannot stop him, and honestly, he's right :(((

It is time to be honest here if I want good for TB and Ritlabs.

Not sure if this is related to the above mentioned fix.

My ability to spell check and add dictionaries died with .35. I've
moved back to .34 and the spell checker and dictionary support work.

Can anyone else confirm this problem before I do a bug track?

However.

There is something strange with the windows.

When I hit reply, the reply window is "behind" the main screen. I
have the minimize the main screen, then click maximum from the status

This just started with this version.

I have to agree. In order to test builds, printing must be

Error message when connecting for mail

2008-06-05 Thread Ethan J. Mings
June 5, 2008

Just ran the install for the beta 17 and the program was working well.

Just installed a key board for my machine. I install the software
drivers for the keyboard

Now, when every I go to connect for mail, I get an error message that
asks tells me a No disk in drive D, insert disk to continue.I
click continue and things work fine. However, every single mail check
is creating this problem.

I suspect something is wrong at the registry level.

Does anyone have a solution set.

It's annoying.

I tested version 4.0.14.12 last night. It loaded fine. One of the

I would select search, pick a search phase and nothing would be

Hello ,

Miguel:

I use the TB for my replies. However, the digest has been blacklisted
given the use of images and html files.

Example:

Content-Type: IMAGE/PNG;
 name="B_English.png"
Content-transfer-encoding: base64
Content-Disposition: attachment;
 filename="B_English.png"

So, at this time I have to cut and past a new message to participate
in the conversation.

Personally, I would prefer if html messages, encoding file
attachments could be dropped.

However, this is the best I can do at this time.

It is a new feature. Yet, in this alpha is appears to really be a
stumbling block. Not drag the issue out, I'm asking for a rough
time line when we will see a real version with a working spell
checker.

It's difficult to test with no spell checker, works with one editor
not another editor etc.

Mike, I appreciate that the editor is not finished and the spell
checking will be coming soon. However, I much rather have a alpha or
beta with known features. At this time, I cannot tell when it's me,
my set up or simply the function is missing. Furthermore, it's really
confusing when some on the list state the feature is working and
others say it is not.

I've rolled back to the version indicated in the footer.

However, I would suggest some real focus go into getting the editor
and spell checker solved now.

With that solved, we can focus on the "new features" in version 4.0.

I fear the missing spell checker is really taking the focus away from
the task at hand.

I think it would be much more helpful if we could have a fully

in the directory which I don't know if they are needed, work, etc.

At this point, the last alpha release did not state the spell checker

I'm looking forward to testing the new editor and spell checker

Thanks so much for this answer. I followed the earlier note here on
the list the Microsoft site. Your note completed the answer.

I'm looking forward to testing it.

The following was noted:
