HTML links to tags within the message not working
Hello TBBETA, In some messages there are buttons we can click on to move to a another part of the message. For example newsletters with several articles, which have the headlines at the top and you can click on one to move down to that particular article, and a "back to top" button at the end of the article. Or, very popular for bilingual messages over here, a botton at the top "for English click here" and then it takes you to the English translation. This does not seem to work in TB! anymore. Clicking on that internal link has no effect whatsoever. I am not sure, but I think it started when the new rendering engine was introduced. Any confirmations? -- Cheers, Thomas. Personally I have one tag, the first one I made when the feature became available, that doesn't show up when you right-click a message and choose "labels". The other ones were added after installing a more recent version (or beta ftm) and they do show up. I suppose that deleting, then recreating the tag (label) would make it show up in the right-click-list. -- Best Wishes, Mark using The Bat! Hello MAU, > - The *only* advantage of Tags over Colour Groups I see is the fact that > *multiple tags* can be assigned to a message, while you can only assign > *one* colour group. BTW, I forgot to mention that, years ago, I implemented something similar, of course for my own use, by entering some keywords in Memo Field. Of course, I had to remember the keywords (just a few) and type them every every time I wanted to 'assign' them to a message. This allowed me to see 'tagged' messages using VFs. And of course, the only way to unassign them was by opening the Memo field and deleting. -- Best regards, Miguel A. About Tags (II)
Hello all, I have been 'playing' a little more with Tags and, aside of what I already wrote in thread 'About Tags' starting with , this is what I think about Tags. I'll try to be brief. Pros: - The *only* advantage of Tags over Colour Groups I see is the fact that *multiple tags* can be assigned to a message, while you can only assign *one* colour group. Cons (at least in current implementation: - There is no way of creating or defining Tags (i.e. a list of tags) without assigning them to a message (the current selected message) when first created (Added). It should be possible to create Tags similarly to Colour Groups, View Modes, etc., without the need of using or assigning them at 'creation time'. - As it has been reported by others and myself, many times defined Tags do not appear on the RMB or Messages/Tags menu. - It looks like selecting the option '(none)' in above mentioned menu, does nothing. - There is no way of deleting Tags from the existing list. You can remove them from a message (or messages) but not *delete* them from the existing list. In a message of the thread mentioned above I said I had found a way of deleting them. It works, but it has some 'buts' and 'ifs'. There is a file named 'TagStat.TXT' in MAIL directory that lists all Tags that have been defined or created. Each tag shows some long numbers that I assume somehow refer to the message(s) that have that tag assigned. If you exit TB and open that file with a text editor, you may delete a Tag (line) or all of them. Or, if you want to delete all tags, you may just delete the file. BUT, that deleting method only works IF: a) The tag(s) you are deleting is(are) not currently assigned to any message. b) The tag(s) you are deleting is(are) not currently being used in the filter of any VF. I have not tried with filters in S.O., but I expect the same. If a) or b) are not true for any tags, TB will make them appear again in TagStat.TXT file, even re-creating it if it had been deleted. I don't know if there are any plans for further development of this Tags feature but, for me, and sorry to say so, the current implementation is neither useful nor usable. -- Best regards, Miguel A. I see. The difference then is possibility of *multiple* tags vs. only one colour group. Thank you. But I see another difference. Colour groups can also be displayed in a column (the name of the group) and you can Alt+click on a name (for a quick filter) to display only messages in that groups. Hello all, In some of my recent posts I have explained that I didn't participate in beta testing of v5 at all, and just lurked this list but not with much attention. So, now that I have started using v5.1 I have found a number of new features with respect to v4.2.44.2 that I was using until now. One of these new features is 'Tags'. I have been 'playing' with them and have a couple of questions: 1.- It seems to me that 'Tags' are just the same than 'Colour Groups'. Message Tags - a feature I knew nothing about
Hello Tbbeta, I've only just discovered a potentially awesome feature - Message Tags It is possible to set the tags on messages similar to Google tags. You can show them in the message list above the preview pane. You can set them in the editor. There is an option to show the tags on the message headers of the preview pane but it doesn't work. Also, mail that appears in a message list which has X-Message-Tags header does not trigger the message list to show the tag. It's nearly there... -- Best regards, Tony mailto:t...@parkinch.co.uk The Bat! 5.0.34.2 Current beta is 5.0.34.2 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
