Re: Searching the Body in VFs

Hello Greg,

The one thing I've learned about software is you have to be open to
 change.

Of course, but not about twice a day ;-)

I don't use IMAP for any serious email presently, but I can see a
 demand for it ...

I don't use IMAP at all and I don't think I will, just like I don't use
HTML for my messages. But I understand some (many?) people want it and
that is all there is to it. If enough people want it it should be given
to them, without any need of explaining why they want (need?) it.

M Of course, but not about twice a day ;-)

Actually I was looking for some old messages which should have been in
the VA mail base. So the thought was to possibly upgrade to SF files and
give it a go after checking the old message base. I didn't convert all
of VA's messages to TB when I switched, so hence the desire to look.

IIRC Melissa Reese suggested something called Mailbag. To be honest
it is like looking for a needle in a hay stack. The functionality of the
application would be based upon the search capability in conjunction
with how the messages are imported. At least I would think.

Well I somewhat disagree with you here. To what degree do people want
(i.e. demand) helps determine present priority. Don't you think the
why is an indication of future demand (i.e. want), and hence present
AND future priority?

The question in life is not whether you will have problems, but how you
deal with them.

Hello Greg,

IIRC Melissa Reese suggested something called Mailbag.

It's Mailbag Assistant (http://www.fookes.com/mailbag/). I don't know if
it will read VA message bases. Other than that it is quite simple to
use, no more difficult than a fork and a knife :)

Don't you think the why is an indication of future demand (i.e.
want), and hence present AND future priority?

I may agree, but I just let Ritlabs run their business. Just like I let
Ford and the butcher around the corner run theirs. If I don't like the
way the butcher cuts the stakes, I look for another one.

Took me a bit to work out what you meant, but you're correct.

Believe me, I wasn't drunk when I wrote it ;-)

I was just looking in the wrong place, I had skimmed a bit of the mail
that explained you were creating the original virtual folder from the
search dialog.

Their is a Message Source option however, though not the same.

No, it isn't. I've tried searching for the same string using Text
and later with Message Source and the results aren't the same.

You'd think that it'd come pretty close, bearing in mind the Text is
in the message source, or at least should be... Though you'd probably
get unusual behaviour with HTML only mails... Text could be very good.
