No I don't. I looked in the Mail directory as well as the program
directory. Where is it supposed to be?

Hello Stefan,

Here is one of my pet peeves. It just happened again. Log says:

 08-Jun-20, 21:10:55: FETCH - 4772 messages in the mailbox, 47 new

Indeed, only 1 message was new, the others were re-downloaded. This is not the first mailcheck since I started TB.

Bug has already been confirmed: https://bt.ritlabs.com/view.php?id=1779

Highly annoying, especially when I am in a country with slow internet (such as Myanmar), and TB wants to re-download thousands of mails (sometimes all that are on the server).

I think it can be done, but I have not tried it. You can add a filter that looks at "Age greater than 14 days", and select one of the three possible actions.

But, as I have said, I have not tried it.

I see. I'll try that next time as work-around.

This just happened:

 30-Jul-19, 20:49:17: FETCH - 4264 messages in the mailbox, 6 new

These were not new mails, they are from 2 weeks ago. Only these 6 were re-downloaded.

And this is my other computer, a PC which is always connected to the internet via my home wifi. The other problems reported were with my laptop, and I travel a lot, so I thought that changing ISPs might be a contributor.

Bug report #1779 is still untouched by Ritlabs.

Dear Thomas,

I'm having the issue on a laptop with permanent ISP, so that's not the reason (at least for me).

I cannot find this at Account / Sorting Office. I tried to switch to German but couldn't find that either (I think it was under Options / Language).

However, the only selection I want to choose is "Download only New Messages" and that is the default anyway.

Dear Dimitar and others who have experienced this,

Kindly add a note to https://bt.ritlabs.com/view.php?id=1779 .

Dear Maxim,

You can also send me the procedure that looks for mids before downloading mails. My last coding is a few years ago (my language was Turbo Pascal) but I am sure I can go through the code and pinpoint some questions. Even though the bug report is only a month old, this has been going on for years and it seems to get worse, so I am willing to help you fix it. Thanks.

Hi Dimitar,

I have a theory why this happens. Unproven, as I am now on another machine. I understand that TB! looks in one of the ACCOUNT.* files, and for some reason, the relevant file gets corrupted, renamed or moved to another directory sometimes.

It would be good if Ritlabs commented, as I am not the only one and guessing does not help.

 Dear Maxim,

Today this version started downloading again all 12k+ old messages
from my POP3 account. I had to dispatch all mail and mark all as read
 to stop that process.

If you need anything from me to check on this, let me know.

The only way to stoip this from happening is to let TB! download all
mails again. Otherwise it will do this every time you start TB!.

Once all emails have been downloaded again, TB! will be fine for a
while. It seems like the history of emails already downloaded was lost
and had to be created again.

I have reported this a couple of times, please see my email
mid:699943652.20190323110...@gmx.net dated 23 March 2019 for example.

I have now created a bug report: https://bt.ritlabs.com/view.php?id=1779
