Re: Template to subfolders

Hello Johan,

Historians believe that Wednesday, October 24, 2001 at 08:34 GMT +0200
was when, Johan Svahn [JS] typed the following:

JS Is it possible to apply a template to all the subfolders of a folder?

Unfortunately, no.

JS I want to change the tempalte of a folder, do 'i have to redo it
JS for all the subfolders too?

Yup. But you can make your life a lot easier by using quick
templates. Make your template just like normal, but make it a quick
template. Then in your folder templates, use
%QINCLUDE=quick template name

This requires a little extra work in the beginning, but next time you
want to change the templates, you only have to change one template:
the quick template.

I think it has already worked in the bat, but I'm not sure. I've been testing several

I think the problem will be with the content-transfer-encoding. In the mails I receive

Re-Scan msg base for Attachment status?

2001-10-24 Thread Tim Musson

Hey TBUDL,

I have a folder that has messages with attachments (mostly code
examples) and I have removed most of the attachments from the
  Attach dir.

Is there any way to update the Attachments icon to indicate that I
can delete that message without having to look at each message?

I usually have a couple thousand to scan every few months and even
arrowing down the list at 3-4 per second takes time, and is hard on
  the wrist g.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Hello Johan,

At 2:34 AM on Wednesday, October 24, 2001 you wrote the
following on the posted subject 'Template to subfolders':

Johan I want to change the tempalte of a folder, do 'i have to redo it
Johan for all the subfolders too?

This is not a direct answer to your question but you might
consider grouping AB entries (that may cross many
folders) create templates for the AB group. This method
  can potentially include many folders.

For example Let's say you have a personal mail folder. Except for
personalized greetings, any new msg or reply to any of
these people (some of whom might have separate folders)
could be addressed in a 'friendly' way vs the more formal
  greetings of business correspondence.

All your 'personal' correspondence can be filtered to
subfolders by person or country or whatever criteria you
select but the AB entries (all in a personal AB group)
  would have one template.

So no matter where your cursor lands, if you select one of
those names to create a new msg or to reply to an old one
the one template will come into play.

I hope this makes sense I've explained it correctly..

I believe TB! looks @ templates in the following order:

  AB entry
  AB group
  Folder
  Default

Allegromail uses various components of Internet Explorer to render
html mails, as does Outlook, and suffers from the same
vulnerabilities as Outlook.

I tried Allegromail it's a nice program but essentially it's just
Outlook's email functions with a slightly different interface. It's
also bloated and somewhat slow.

Are you talking about the message list headers? Check out the
Use Account Default Column settings option in the folder properties.
For every folder that uses this option, the column settings are the
same. You can change the default layout by altering of the folders
using the default column settings.

Note: This doesn't (yet?) work across accounts.

Size and complexity of mail database

2001-10-24 Thread Joseph N.

The Bat! has worked out extremely well for me, and I think I'm going
to keep (i.e., register) it as my mailer. But I have one question
before I take that plunge: I use two accounts intensively, and when I
load TB! I load a group that has both accounts as members. On my
screen and processing mail at the same time, therefore, is one account
that has about 35-40 folders, and another account that has about 10
folders. Some folders have upwards of 50 messages plus attachments
(stored within the message bodies), but some folders have only 5 or so
messages. I compress my folders regularly. My question is whether I
should be worried about any corruption or indexing problems with a
structure like this. And a related question concerns indexing: is it
correct that there is no separate function to reindex folders?

There is a manual method for forcing a re-index. Exit TB and delete
the messages.tbi file in the disk folder. The on-disk folder hierarchy
mimics that of the account, so it's not too hard to find. On the next
load of that folder (when you restart TB), the folder is re-indexed.

I had a quite similar problem some time ago. I wanted to change an
account from store attachments seperately to store in message
bodies.

What I did was backup the account (backing up attachments as well) and
restore the account. This way, TB! was able to reintegrate the
attachments into the message base.

Perhaps that would update the information on which attachments are still
available and which aren't. Anyway, just a wild guess, I must admit. :-)

In a word, magnificent.

I have 32,615 emails in over 100 folders.
My Inbox alone has 1,305 emails.
Disk occupied is 389 MB -- I have a good
number of emails with large attachments.

Speed is excellent.

And this on 100 MHz Pentium with 96 MB ram,

My only complaint is that I receive a few
very large emails with complex html formatting,
and these take longer than I would like to

Use one of these three phrases as you sip it. Lots of stuffing in the mouth. An
extremely well-balanced wine. Devilishly decadent. Say nothing else; nobody
(including you) will know what the
hell you're talking about, so everyone will think you're a genius. -- Men's Health,

Identifying Auto Responder

2001-10-24 Thread Raj

Fellow TB users,

I am not sure if this is OT.still.

I manage a announcement mailing list and quite often I get back auto responders /
vacation
mail from subscribers who are genuinely on vacation or have forgotten to turn off
the
option.

These are meaningless mail and would like to delete them.

The question is there some sting specific to Auto Responders / Vacation mails
based on
which I can create a filter.

Thanks in advance.
