Re: Attachments question
[EMAIL PROTECTED] @ 2008-1-14 12:29:30 PM Attachments question mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Hi All, I recently posted a question about the maximum file (.tbb) size that the Bat! can handle. My friend started getting warnings when the inbox approached 2 gigs. That number stunned me (and a few of you) as I have over 20,000 messages in 1 account and it's barely 100 megs. As it turns out, he has picture attachments included with most emails (he's in the gallery biz) and I'm pretty sure that's what's the cause of the 2 gig .tbb file. That makes sense to me. (An interesting side note: due to the standard method of encoding attachments, an encoded attachment is typically about 4/3 as large as the original file.) So to my question. If I split the attachments from the emails will this help? I noticed that you can give attachments their own special directory, rather than keeping them in the message bodies. Are there any drawbacks to this method? Yes, it will. However, you lose a bit of the linkage between the e-mail and the attachment. I know that in previous versions, deleting a message with and attachment stored in an external directory did not delete the attachment as well. This may have changed. Can someone else fill in the details? Also, there is an option to bind attachments only when sending out mail. What does this mean? If unchecked, right before the message is sent, The Bat! will open the attached file and encode it. Any changes you make between attaching the file and sending it WILL be sent. If checked, The Bat! will encode the file the moment you attach the file. Any changes you make between attaching the file and sending it WILL NOT be sent. -- Christopher Using The Bat! v3.99.25 on Windows Vista 6.0 Build 6000. Accessing a POP3 mailbox. Marten Gallagher @ 2007-9-20 3:18:05 AM Compatibility with two or more displays connected to the same computer mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] No. It means that if you have two monitors connected to one computer (see picture), The Bat! will function reasonably. It will remember which monitor it was on. It will move between monitors when one is disconnected. Etc. Except it doesn't... Well, that's the theory anyway... Have TB on second monitor... Disconnect laptop from dock... Restart TB and it opens on second, now non-existent, monitor. This only happens to me when Windows doesn't notice that the external monitor has been disconnected. When I go into my display properties and remind Windows that there is only one monitor now, all the windows on the non-existent monitor jump back to my main screen. -- Christopher Using The Bat! v3.99.24 on Windows Vista 6.0 Build 6000. Re: Can't install 3.99.24
Akebono Translation Service @ 2007-9-19 12:34:49 AM Can't install 3.99.24 mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] While installing The Bat! Professional v3.99.24 I get the following error: The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'thebat_pro_3-99-3[1].msi' in the box below. Use source: C:\Documents and Settings\Gebruiker\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\C3BZVTIV\ What strikes me is that the installer is looking for thebat_pro_3-99-3[1].msi while I'm clearly trying to install 3.99.24... I thought maybe a wrong file name was defined in the setup wizard and pointed to the original thebat_pro_3-99-24.msi instead, but that gives the same error. I think that it's trying to uninstall parts of 3.99.3 but cannot find the MSI file. I'd redownload the 3.99.3 MSI and, when prompted to find thebat_pro_3-99-3[1].msi again, point it at the newly download 3.99.3 MSI. -- Christopher Using The Bat! v3.99.24 on Windows Vista 6.0 Build 6000. I found this sentence in http://www.ritlabs.com/en/products/version.xml for the bat! version 3.99.24. Re: Sub Filters: can I create 'filter groups'?
[EMAIL PROTECTED] @ 2007-9-10 11:42:15 AM Sub Filters: can I create 'filter groups'? mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Really, I suppose it boils down to cosmetics and preference at the end of the day. I mean that organising particular contacts into a 'group' in AB and filtering against the AB group will still mean just as much effort setting up as creating indiviudal filters for each email address under the Sorting Office. It's just that the filters list won't be as long if you do it the AB way...and instinctively we like to group things. And, if you need to change the filter later, you only have to change it in one place. -- Christopher Using The Bat! v3.99.24 on Windows Vista 6.0 Build 6000. Accessing a POP3 mailbox. Jeanny House @ 2007-9-06 10:18:09 PM I blew it with MAPI mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] So, 3.99.3 is an earlier version than 3.99.24? That seems odd. 3 24, not to be confused with the (nonexistent) 3.99.2.4, which would be older than 3.99.3. -- Christopher Using The Bat! v3.99.3 on Windows Vista 6.0 Build 6000. Re: two Bats running?
Peter Kerekes @ 2007-9-01 7:47:13 PM two Bats running? mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] The Bat appears to be running OK, but when I open the Task Manager I see two BAT icons running. If I End Task both icons disappear. I did check, that by any chance I am running 2 Bats, but could not locate it. AllegroMail
Anyone have any experience with AllegroMail? I'm looking for an alternative to my usual MS Outlook Express that does not have OE's security vulnerabilities. The Bat is one option. I'm wondering how AllegroMail measures up on the security issue. Thanks. -- Christopher W.
