Re: List index out of bounds (-1)
Hello Marten, MG List index out of bounds (-1) Nobody would tell you unless you specify the context ;-) Oooh... Ithought I'd try the simple question first before goingto the complictaed. The situation when it arises is: The Bat is running. At an unspecified interval, irregular AFAICT I get repeated Error boxes saying: List index out of bounds (-1) They just repeatedly propagate one after the other. There is nothing scheduled by Scheduler at the time. There may be an automatic email check triggering it. Folder maintenance hasn't cured it. If I hit the red x in each box quickly enough they can all be deleted one ater the toher and it seems to stop... ...until another unspecified period later. -- Marten Gallagher Annery Kiln Web Design www.annerykiln.co.uk Using The Bat! 4.0.28.3 with K9 on Windows XP 5.1 Current version is 4.0.24.0 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
URGENT question before I get plane
Have transferred The Bat to another machine. Both machines have dual monitors but different configuration. Editing a template or creating a new template is opening a window off screen and I don't know which Registry key it is to reset it to 0 Anyone got a clue? This is always a pain because windows generally are not dual monitor aware when it comes to following PC settings as do other applications. Have sorted all the other windows but forgot this one - it's the window that opens when creating a new or editing an existing template -- Marten Gallagher Annery Kiln Web Design www.annerykiln.co.uk Using The Bat! 4.0.24 with K9 on Windows XP 5.1 tbudl@thebat.dutaint.com Current version is 4.0.24.0 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Filter oddities
Thius may, or may not be connected with the other thread about filters, but reading that has propted me to try and sort out a filter weirdeness that I have been having. My difficulty in explaining is related to not being sure about the terminology for naming different species of folder. I have the usual email account folders - i.e: one per email account. I also have folders I have created within a folder called 'Other Accounts' Email to these is from clients arrives having been re-directed at the server to my main email account which filters the incoming mail on the 'To' and places them in the relevant client folders under 'Other Accounts' The problem is that any further filter opeations on those emails does not work automatially but does work when manually triggered. And yes - filters are set to continue processing, and yes filters are set to be automatic not manually triggered. Unless, of course, I am missing something. -- Marten Gallagher Annery Kiln Web Design www.annerykiln.co.uk Using The Bat! 3.99.29 with K9 on Windows XP 5.1 tbudl@thebat.dutaint.com Current version is 3.99.27.2 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Re: 3.99.24 - Weird focus issue
I suspect it could be related to the dual display update thingy. For example, does the program use any weird window hooks that could interfere with utilities like UltraMon? For the record, I do have dual display but I never use The Bat! that way and this has happened even when the second display was completely off. I have a dual-display and sue Ultramon but cannot say I've experienced behaviour that sounds like that. Re: Compatibility with two or more displays connected to the same computer
No. It means that if you have two monitors connected to one computer (see picture), The Bat! will function reasonably. It will remember which monitor it was on. It will move between monitors when one is disconnected. Etc. Except it doesn't... Have TB main window on second monitor.. Open a message - it opens first monitor... Move it to second monitor and close it... Open it again and it does open on second monitor... Hit reply - editor window opens on first monitor... Move it to second monitor...close it.. Open original message again...hit repl;y... Still opens on first monitor... Position NOT remembered. AND Have TB on second monitor... Disconnect laptop from dock... Restart TB and it opens on second, now non-existent, monitor. Close TB...edit registry to force TB to open on laptop monitor. Hit reeive mail and connection centre opens on non-existent second monitor. AND Try editing a template...opens on second, non-existent monitor. -- Marten Gallagher Annery Kiln Web Design www.annerykiln.co.uk Using The Bat! 3.99.24 with K9 on Windows XP 5.1 Current version is 3.99.24 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
Re: Using a Reading Receipt Template
G'day, Is there a way of replying using a particular message using what is defined as the reading receipt template when the sender has not requested a reading receipt? Essentially I received a message from a client who asked me to let him know the message had been received. He had not use the request a reading receipt function of Outlook Express so The Bat! would not tell me that a receipt was requested. I ended up sending him a normal reply when it would have been more appropriate to use the reading receipt template. Is there any way this can be done? Yes... DO you know how to use filters? If YES... Set up a filter for the client's email address, and add a 'Create a formatted message' option in actions. You can use Macros to create the reply from relevant parts of the original. -- Marten Gallagher Annery Kiln Web Design www.annerykiln.co.uk Using The Bat! 3.99.3 with K9 on Windows XP 5.1 Current version is 3.99.24 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
Re: Using a Reading Receipt Template
The thing is that I don't want to do this for every one of his messages, and I do need to do this for other senders on an ad-hoc basis. I was hoping there would be some way of doing this by picking a menu item when needed. Filters does give me an idea so I will do some testing and report back. Filter Options tab... Execute filter manually, execute filter with a hot-key. Then highlight the message and hit the hotkey combo you set up. Diff between Folder and Common Folder
What is the difference between a Folder and a Common Folder? I have a set of folders that I use to filter email from various senders. Some are in the top level of the tree - parallel with an acxtual email account's folder set. Others are in a folder called 'Clients' and are thus all one level in. These I think are just 'Folders' but I wonder if they were set up as Common Folders... basically I am confused. The only reason I ask is that I have had a rash of disappearing folders recently - all recently created ones. They have a folder in the 'Documents and Settings' place where all emails are stored in their raw format. But they will not reappaerar. (Even trying CTRL ALT SHIFT L or whatever). Anyway I can live with that for now - I just have got no inkling of the concepts behind 'Folder' and Common Folder' - their idfferences from each other and their intended functions/uses. -- Marten Gallagher Annery Kiln Web Design www.annerykiln.co.uk Using The Bat! 3.99.3 with K9 on Windows XP 5.1 tbudl@thebat.dutaint.com Current version is 3.99.24 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Re: Editing Received Messages
In a time where Governments are thinking of considering eMail as a legal document it it more than being a 'bad person' altering such a document (also when there is a possibility through exporting and re-importing. An email is only able to be regarded as a legal document to the same level as a paper letter or any other document. I can alter a letter, I can alter a document, I can alter an email. Since there is often a copy of the email at both ends - any alteration by me of my copy can be held against the copy at the other end and any falsification argued over just as it would for a paper letter or whatever. Therefore, I would suggest, the ability to alter email headers for practical local reasons is fine. Any email held up in a court of law can be scrutinised and compared just as any other document would. In any case, email can be hacked and cracked about without the use of TB! if one is determined to falsify something. -- Marten Gallagher Annery Kiln Web Design www.annerykiln.co.uk Using The Bat! 3.95.6 with K9 on Windows XP 5.1 Current version is 3.95.06 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Re: Export messae to file using filter - stopped working
When you open the Export dialog box and select export format as plain text there is a template box beside it. If you don't change anything in there it just takes the default text from the document, but if you put something in there it uses that as the template for the export. I added %Text%- which will copy the text and not add any extra lines. TB may be full of little quirks - but you are certainly not one of them! Brilliant! Thanks... Works again now. Leaves wondering why it worked before and needed this addition... Email using list fails if one address is malformed
I am sure it used to be the case that the following did not happen: I set up a list of addresses in the address book. When I send an email to the list (in the 'BCC' field) with my own address in the 'To' field, the email is sent to all the addresses even if one or more fail for some reason (either error in the address, or SMTP server rejects 'cos it's unrouteable, mailbox full or whatever).
