Yes.. I have been using TB for 20 years and this is one of the lessons
learned. I use SecondCopy to do this automatically every 2 hours. The
other lesson learned is to not let TB do the encryption of the files.
Use TruCrypt to create an encrypted partition and store the TB files
there. Makes life alot more peaceful!

Thanks for treply, I will for sure use a different back up method.
Seeing as you are also a very long time user I wonder if you ever see
TB! crash and just close instantly on a certain rogue e-mail when
downloading off the server? I see this once a week or so and have to
ry and isolate it on the server. usually when ALL other mails are
downloaded the rogue one will download without an issue. I can see
nothing odd in the headers or they type of mail or mailer. Usually
they are addressed to me direct and for filtering into my peronal mail
folder. It can be a pain dealing with these. Deleting and recreating
the filter didn't help, nor did subtly changing its form. Thanks
again!

Does it download OK if you remove the filter?

Good point, I will try that!! Thanks. Having other issues since
fitting a new drive and transferring the database manually, so I will
start another thread, using Agent now as a stop gap as I am mega busy
and daren't risk a total e-mail outage :( Cheers

4.2.44.2 folder view modes issue

2013-10-09 Thread Chris Wilson

  09/10/2013 09:44

I had a hard drive failure and had to try and re install The Bat!
4.2.44.2 from a daily back up. This failed part through with an unable
to read file error...

Luckily TB! database was on a D: drive so i did a fresh install of TB!
and tried copying the rest across. It's 90% working fine now, but when
I change folder view modes for and individual folder, either by Folder
- Folder View Mode _ whatever view mode required or by folder
properties it does not always take. Sometimes toggling the All and
Unread lower left flags in the message list pane does the trick,
sometimes it doesn't. Could it be a corrupt file? Where does TB!
4.2.44.2 store these settings? Any help appreciated. this is not the
first time a read error has occurred trying to restore form a TB!
generated backup file. The file was about 3gig in size, but my file
system under my Windows XP Pro SP3 system handles bigger files than
that fine. Is this backu sytsem known to be flaky, and I better
copying the whole of the directory structure each night? Thanks.

| I am no expert on View Modes (VM), but I'll give it a shot. As I
| understand it you have 3 places where you can apply VM.
|
| 1 Main Window
|
| 2 View Folder FolderName of AcctName
|
| 3 Browse Ticker Messages
|
| In the *Main Window* the view mode applied to the selected folder can be

| From TB main window when View | Global View Mode | one of *View Modes

| independently (i.e. View | Global View Mode | *none* is selected), then
| you can change the VM for each window a couple of different ways. They
| are as follows:
|
| 1 in the main window in the message list pane right mouse click one

|
| 2 in the main window in the folder pane right mouse click the
|folder | Folder View Mode | and select choice in 2nd grouping
|
| 3 in the main window in the folder pane right mouse click the
|folder | properties | select Use view mode VMname for column
|settings
|
| In the *View Folder FolderName of AcctName* whatever VM was the last VM
| selected when you had View Folder of FolderName of AcctName open will be
| the next VM used when you open another folder.
|
| In the *Browse Ticker Messages* the VM is independent of the other 2
| places where you can apply VMs.
|
| This is how View Modes are working for me now. I'm not sure this is how
| they are suppose to work. After experiencing the learning curve here it
| does make sense to me now.

Once you understand, view modes are actually nice. I thought I'd send to
TBUDL, so others do not have the same frustration as I've had figuring
view modes out.
