R and can this function be turned off? Marck No. But then checking a file once every 10 seconds is not a Marck particularly heavy overhead. Unless you're running from a floppy Marck drive. Marck ... maybe, but it does no harm, takes no CPU and doesn't affect you Marck in any other way than in the back of your mind :-). it may do no harm but yes it does use cpu and it does start up every ten sec's. how much cpu and what it does is not the issue. the issue is as i have already stated. that is the bat! is performing a useless function every ten sec's, yet i have no control over it? that in my eyes is an issue regardless of it being harmless or not. R to me it just doesn't feel right that i can't make the bat! sit R there idle and only do things when i want it to do it. I experimented with it and found that you can put command line arguments in the text file and they get executed properly. I played it safe and tried out /MINIMIZE.
