I agree with you. How ever today I saw a news item, where the Kerala High
court had directed the Kerala CM and Govt to return back the Rs 10 lakhs
cash taken from Guruvayur temple to help outsiders ; it said that the owner
of the fund is Guruvayur Krishnan; and except HIM no one has the authority
to spend other than the executives of the temples. A hard hit and Stalin
will also return it back soon. KR IRS 7721

Q1 Whatfoods are healthier than you think?

A1  Astha Johri ClinicalNutrition ConsultantUpdated November 18, 2017

There are a lot of foods that people completely exclude from their
diets, because of mere misconceptions. A very prominent reason behind this is we
don’ttrust what we have been hearing from our elders (who used to be much
healthierthan us), but we trust people who somewhere somehow decides to write a
blog orupload a video saying something based on their personal experience.

The basic idea behind this is, just be natural. Below are some foods that
arehealthier than you think.

Milk Products: Milk productsare rich inCarbohydrates and Fats and this is the
reason why a lot people exclude dairyproducts from their diet. However the fact
is, milk products are a very richsource of good quality protein, calcium, CLA,
phosphorous, Vitamin B12 andvarious other vitamins too. Low fat milk and milk
products (when taken in smallquantity in 3-4 servings a day) are good for fat
loss as well as overall wellbeing.

Ghee: “Ghee is never a part ofour diets” this is a statementthat I come to hear
very often. But my question is, “why”!

People take liquor, eat pizzas, burgers, high calorie desserts may beonce or
twice a week, and they consider it a necessary part of their sociallife.

But they are very happy about nothaving ghee in their diet. While, ghee is very
good for joints, provides a lot of strength, gives satiety, very beneficial for
hair and skin and has many other benefits. The only thing to control is
theamount of ghee in a day. One teaspoon of ghee is safe for mostadults
(excepting medical conditions) and upto 2 teaspoons for most kids.

Seasonal Vegetables: Peoplespend a lot of money buyingexotic vegetables like
broccoli, bell peppars, zuchhini etc as they think theyare much healthier than
our Lauki, Tori etc. However the fact is adding exoticvegetables for a change
is fine, but they are not better than our traditionalvegetables. These exotic
vegetables are good to raise our metabolism, butmetabolism can be raised by
several other ways too. Eat all kind of vegetables, focus more on the
traditional ones as they are fresh and more easily available(so there are no
chances of adulteration or any processing).

Seasonal Fruits: It’s notnecessary to buy overpricedfruits like kiwi, coated
apples, avocados, blueberries etc, just because somepeople say they are
healthy. They are good, but our traditional fruits likeKashmiri Apples, riped
bananas, grapefruits etc are better as they are fresh.Do not buy fruits from
shopkeepers who guarantees you over-sweetened fruits, and all their fruits taste
similarly over- sweetened.

Secondly, people think eatingmangoes and bananasis a crime specially for
diabetics. Whereas bananas are very good for joints, skin, immunity, increasing
hemoglobin as they are a very good source of iron, folate, niacin, riboflavin,
B6. Mangoes too are good for digestion and bonehealth. Now here again, you need
to check the quantity that you are consuming, its’s good to have them in small
quantities. Even a person who is diabetic, hascontrolled sugars and loves
mangoes or bananas can have half a banana or 2slices of mangoes preferably in
the morning time occasionally.

Rice: Do not omit rice fromyour diet, rather have themin controlled serving.
Riceis loaded with a lot of nutrients which includes magnesium, phosphorus,
manganese, selenium, iron, folic acid, thiamine and niacin. Just donot consume
any cereal in large quantity in one meal, it should be divided indifferent
servings. Also, it is good to use variety of cereals in differentmeals like
rice, jowar, bajra, ragi, wheat flour etc. Rice is very good iftaken with
pulses and a little ghee.

Soyabean/ Dal: Most males thinkthat having soy proteinat all in their diet,
adversely affect their testosterone levels. However thefact is taking soy
protein exclusively as a supplement or having dals and soyabeanin abnormally
high amounts on regular basis reduces the testosterone levels. But soy protein
has a PDCAAS score of 1 just like whey, and is easilydigestible good quality
protein. Consuming them in controlled amounts i.e. 2servings of dal or soyabean
once a day is completely fine & infactbeneficial for everybody.

Coconut/ Coconut Oil: Coconutand coconut oil has beena part of our tradition
since long. They are rich in fats, but the kind of fatsthey have are good
foryour heart, skin, immunity and overall health when consumed as per
recommendeddosage. Many researches show that having 5 g of extra virgin
coconutoil or having small piece of coconut a day is extremely beneficial for
overallwell being.

Oils & Fats: Just thinkdeeply, if fats would have beenthat bad then why do they
form an essential part of our diet. The truth isanything consumed in a proper
amount and correct manner is good for maintainingweight as well as

Water management in body

2021-07-06 Thread cnu pne
>From my friend

*KINDLY FORWARD TO ALL YOUR KNOWN/UNKNOWN SOURCE*. 

How many people say they don't want to drink anything before going to bed
because they have to get up during the night?

Something else I didn't know... Why do people have to urinate so much at night?

Response from a heart doctor (cardiologist):

"When you stand upright generally there is swelling in the legs, because
gravity keeps water in the lowest part of your body.

Now if you lie down and your lower body (trunk, legs, etc.) is in level with
your kidneys, the kidneys remove the water because it's much easier.

That fits the last statement!

I knew we need a minimum of water to flush the toxins out of your body, but
this was _news for me!_

Then what's the right time to drink water? Knowing it well enough, is very
important.

Words from a heart specialist!

Drinking water at certain times, maximizes its effects on the body:

1. Two (2) glasses of water after waking up - helps activate the internal organs

2. One (1) glass of water 30 minutes before a meal - helps digestion

3. One (1) glass of water before bathing - helps to lower blood pressure (who
knew that ???)

4. One (1) glass of water before bed - can prevent stroke or heart attack (good
to know!)

5. In addition, water at bedtime also helps prevent leg cramps at night.

6. The leg muscles look for moisture when they contract and wake you up with a
Charlie Horse (calf cramp).

A cardiologist said that if every person sends this message to 10 people,
atleast 1 life could possibly be saved!

So, I have already shared this information to this entire group. Many of you
might be aware of a few, but may not be all of them!!

Forward this message or otherwise, it your own choice.
But, if done, it can save lives.

*INTRODUCTION*

There may hardly be anyone in India who would not have at least heard of
the great spiritual leader and genius, Sree Sankaraachaarya Swaamikal
(Aadi-Sankaran), who was a Namboothiri born in Central Kerala, and lived
during the 8th - 9th century (AD).

*SANKARAACHAARYAR'S PERIOD*

Debates have continued for over a century regarding Sree Sankaraachaaryar's
period, with no authentic (*) conclusions as yet. Prof: Theele in his
"Outlines of the History of Ancient Religions" (1877) had mentioned the
period as 788 - 820 AD. He had surmised this from a statement in "Aarya
Vidyaa Sudhaakaram" of Yajneswara Saasthri, a work based on "Sankara
Mandaara Sourabham" of Bhatta Neelakandhan, son of Thrivikraman and
Parvathy Amba. Neelakandhan had another Kaavyam (poetic composition)
"Sankaraabhyudayam", in which it was mentioned that he was born in 788 AD
and died on Vaisaakha Poornima day. His period is attributed *with
certainty* (?) to be after scholars such as Bharthruhari, Dingnaagan,
Gaudapaadar, Dharmakeerthi and Kumaarilabhattan. Thus 788 - 820 period
is believable.
(?!) (Bracket asterisk are mine for the thought of the distortions
presented) {KR “no authentic” (but) “with certainty” and again doubt
“believable”}. [KR also where there are controversy, yet they are readable
and analysable since it is not a subject of grave injustice or untruth]

He is said to have mastered the Vedams and Saasthrams before he was eight
years old, and authored all the famous Bhaashyams (commentaries) and other
works before age 16, and prior to his Samaadhi (demise) at age 32,
performed the astounding task of spreading the message of Advaitha
Vedaantham in the whole country through teaching, debates and conquest
(Dig-Vijayam), established the four famous spiritual learning centres
(Matthams), and ascended the Sarvajna Peettham (throne for All-knowing).

*KOLLAVARSHAM*
*(M E - Malayalam Era)*

It was in 825 AD that the Malayalam Era, called "Kollavarsham" was started.
One legend tells us that this new calendar was started to honour the great
Sree Sankaraachaarya Swaamikal, and refers to the popular Kali Dina Samkhya
"Aachaarya Vaagabhedyaa", which translates to the number 1434160 according
to "Paralper" or "Katapayaadi" [Click here
]. @ The number of
years corresponding to these number of days elapsed since the beginning of
the present Kaliyugam, would be 3927, from which when one subtracts 3102,
the beginning of the Christian Era, one gets 825 AD. It is believed that
this represents the year of demise (Samaadhi) of this venerable person, and
the beginning of the new Era. There is yet another version that the Era
started from the year the Aachaaryar implemented the 64 Anaachaarams [Click

( As extracted from the web site) :

@: These facts can be summarised as follows:
KR:“word considered: taralaangam as 6293 in reverse as 3926 and
difference from 3102 to adopted. ;3102 is smaller than 3926 so AD.

For example, Dr Ram G Krishnan in 8AM sun TV was talking about

KOTI-AYA-CLOTHESLINE

Dear friends,

Though Malayalam word for clothes line is AYA, in Iyerhomes the clothes line is
mostly called KOTI.

Today I wasputting my clothes after washing in the newly erected clothesline
with pulleysat either end. My wife seeing the way I was raising the
clotheslineslowly,   commented -looks like youare raising the flag in the mast.
I commented, “Athuvum koti, ithuvum koti.

Lady servantcleaning the compound nearby  could notcontrol her laugh. She
said, sir rendu vartha pesinalum , athu chrikkavaikkum(I talk very less. But my
talk would make others laugh)

I thought today my posting can be about clothes line(KOTI).

Sincerely,

Gopala Krishnan 6-7-2021.

1.  Cloth lines insidehome.

During my boyhood days clothesline was erected usinglengthy thin bamboo. If
inner corridor was there  it was the place at least two bamboos wereerected for
putting  washed and driedclothes for daily use. The bamboo was suspended from
the roof (mostly fromrafter)  just above the hand reach. Outercorridor such
clothes line was mostly erected using an iron wire, mostlygalvanized. It was
used to dry clothes during rainy period. The convenientpoint to connect either
side was Kazhukkol (rafter) on either side.

Though marring the beauty of room, clothes line waserected in rooms also,
connecting to walls using nails.

2.  Wooden clothstand

Some homes made cloth stand with steps in which driedclothes were put. Being
made of wood, it was not used outside. These clothesstandshad a problem of
tilting if more clothes were put. But it gave a better look in homes. It was
kept inbed rooms.

Not washed clothes were put in large baskets made ofcane. After the appearance
of plastic, large such baskets with lid wereappeared. Something similar to
latest waste box with lid appearing in airports.

The only change in years was , instead of bamboo rod incorridor, plastic wire
was used in many homes and hooks were erected on wallsto connect it.

Wooden stands had to be made with carpenter, notreadily available in furniture
shops.

2 Clothes lineoutside home

This was most essential, and was tied one end to abeam of the home, other end
to some tree branches. Or between two treebranches, the clothes line, at hand
reach. If tree branches were not there abamboo pole was erected.

In some modern homes two RCC thin poles were erectedwith a ring at top. An iron
wire was erected in between them. The cloth linesare always erected on sides
not hindering entrance.

3 Dhobi homesand river banks.

It was very common to see clothes lines erected eithersideways or in parallel
using any vertical poles with wires. Urgent clotheswere dried at their home
after washing at home.

In river banks, using poles erected on sand tyingcoir/plastic wire washed
clothes were dried. I had seen lengthy clothes linesin parallel erected by
dhobis in Kodaikkanal, after washing clothes in thestream water. Though no ghat
was there, the place  was called Dhobi ghat while I was working at
Kodaikkanalduring 1973’s. Now the name may be changed)

4. Clothesstand

Cloth stands  instainless steel appeared  by 1990’s. Mosthomes had two or
three, one to put washed clothes, another to dry clothes.Limitation was lengthy
cloths like dhoti, sari could not be dried on them.

5. SomeEngineers thinking

Many homes newly built, are provided with expandableclothes line. There are up
to six  thinpipes  of length  three feet. By just pulling one by oneappear. As
required, we can use. But it occupies space in the room. I haveprovided it in
two rooms, and one corridor. One in corridor is maximum used byme.

5a. Clotheslines in portico

Always portico has more height and some engineerthought of clothes line which
can be above. Like a cradle six clothes lines inplastic wire   in parallel  are
connected to stainless rods at either endusing hooks, a central  stainless
rodhold the two other rods in position. Using pulley erected at  top either
end, the cloth lines are erectedand lowered using plastic wire running between
pulleys, To hold after raising, the plastic wire is held in a hook on a wall
making a loop. The same can be used in flats also in the portico. Thecost is
only about 1000-00 including technician work. I have erected it in my portico.

5b. further modification

This is using a set of pulleys  erected at either end on a frame work
instainless steel angle. It is fitted on either end of the clothes lines
end.Cloth lines are stainless steel rods of 5 feet length, not plastic wire.
Nylonwire is passed inside  the rods. Bypulling the nylon wire the clothesline
is raised. It is held in a fabricatedframe work, using a plastic rod at the end
holding in the frame work. Clothlines can be  raised or loweredindividually.

This looks quite neat, though the cost is very mucharound 7000-00. This also I
have erected in my portico.

Inner wares are put in the first type, which iserected  in the back of this
one.
