Error in macro mgtdList in mGSD

2012-01-10 Thread tasca
The right hand menu item called Contexts currently shows:

  Error in macro mgtdList

The same error shows in Next Actions by Context ... and seemingly
everywhere else that a context list is required.

I'm fairly sure this is a user error (i.e. caused by my ignorant
action) although it may reveal a weakness in the software.

It occurred immediately after I began to change the name of the Home
context, but cancelled and closed the edit rather than completing
it.

The Home context checkbox no longer occurs in any action box ...
despite the fact that I neither completed the edit nor deleted the
Home context.

Obviously, the loss of the context list seriously degrades the
usefulness of mGSD, since I can no longer see actions by context.

Any help diagnosing and/or fixing this problem would be most
appreciated.

custom project status

2012-01-10 Thread DDdW
Hi,

First of all a big compliment to mGSD and everyone who contributed to
it. I've tried a gazillion of offline and online GTD tools, but GSD is
truly the most natural system I've encountered. And also because it's
a tiddlywiki small nuisances I can tweak.

I added a new projectstatus today called Ongoing for projects that
really don't end. They are too big too see as a single task, and are
too apparent to simply call an 'area'. Think of things like 'social
life', or 'administration'.

Adding another ProjectStatus wasn't too hard to find out.
I found the others in the tiddler Projecstatus, and saw how the coding
worked (only really had to make a new tiddler, copy paste it from
another projectstatus, change the names and colnumber).

Then some tweaks to project dashboards, and the newly assigned
projects shows up nice where they belong.

Only issue I have is that (next) actions in projects with the status
Ongoing are treated just as they are as actions in someday/Maybe: they
aren't visible!

For Someday/Maybe I understand that those actions would be just
clutter in most overviews. But how can I show my 'Ongoing' actions in
dashboards like Next Actions by Context?

I thimbled around in some of the core files, but couldn't quite find
what I was looking for.
I suspect it has something to do with tiddler.hasActiveProject().

Can you please help me make this small tweak?

very much appreciated.

To avoid wasting people's time, I'm replying to my own post.

I noticed that in mgsd.html contained dozens of action divs with a tag
for the Home context, but the gui didn't recognise the continued
existence of the Home context.

So I simply deleted all the Home context tags using vim and
everything seems to work fine now.

It would seem that the Home context got deleted (despite me clicking
to cancel the deletion in the relevant JS alert box), but the tags
were left behind.

I'm pretty sure that I pressed that cancel button, so there may be
an issue with maintaining 'state' in the relevant bit of code.

As a complete newbie, with little practical JavaScript skill, I'm
struggling to help any further.

[tw] Re: Best way to organize TW?

2012-01-10 Thread HansBKK
One's approach is of course a completely personal decision and depends very
much both on the degree of structure of the topic domain, and most
importantly your familiarity with that topic and its structure.

Regarding granularity, my rule of thumb is to keep things as large as
possible, only break down into smaller chunks when those bits truly need to
be in multiple locations, under different topics. Inclusion works well if
sequencing is important.

The critical difference is between collecting files for your own personal
use, and publishing ones when you're ready to share a topic domain with
others. I've spent so much time creating navigation/scaffolding in TW for
different topic domains I've resolved not to do so anymore, until I've
become so familiar with the topic I know I'm approaching the ability to do
it once and for all which of course is never really true, just relative
to starting from scratch.

I've found pure tagging to be the best approach in the beginning.

[tw] Re: Migrate this forum to a wiki (not a TW-based wiki)

2012-01-10 Thread Tobias
There sure are hurdles and advanced features in TiddlySpace for those
that have so far only used a classical TiddlyWiki or perhaps a
TiddlySpot to have it hosted and uploadable via your browser.

However, your style example does not seem a good one to speak of
barriers. It's always been best practise throughout the web and not
just TW to use StyleSheets for abstract, reused styles.

I do understand the reluctance that comes with editing or changing
stuff in a collaborative environment. In that respect, the TiddlyWiki
space for example indeed does come with way too much noise that one
doesn't want to mess with unless one knows how and why exactly.

[tw] Re: Create my own internal-use function

2012-01-10 Thread Tobias
Hi Smandoli,

Please describe what you intend to use the array (or arrays?) for,
because that has implications as to how you would add, edit or delete
any items in it.

We could easily provide you with functions that parse a tiddlers body
or that analyse a tagging structure, but all of that depends on what
you need your array for in the first place.

So please be as detailed as you can in describing all of what you
intend to do with you array... after all, perhaps you don't even need
a dedicated js version of it.

 First note: the new wizard doesn't ask if some tiddlers would have get

Ahh interesting! I hadn't thought of this. That's quite an oversight
on my part. I'll look into adding this in a future version

I tried to import all tiddlers from a
 big TiddlyWiki (which caused the old wizard to crash Opera) and while
 I didn't waited for them to get imported, pressing restart wizard is
 much better than getting the browser to crash. Another good thing is
 that the new wizard doesn't mess the file address (the old one somewhy

 file://...C/fakepath/the_file.html
 which is to be corrected manually).

 The bad news is that I haven't succeed with importing in Opera (11.60)
 at all. The wizard sais: Please wait and that's where I'm (or it's)
 stuck. The same story with FireFox (9). I tried even tiddlers which
 have names and content without non-latin symbols. Maybe you can add
 some diagnostic messages? Anyway, with which browsers did you succeed?

Interesting. I had succeeded with Firefox 9 so something odd is
happening here. I've added some more status messages. Please let me
know what you see with these additional ones. It's possibly breaking
on a single tiddler.
Are you importing into a blank TiddlyWiki? If not could you try that
and see if there is any difference?
Are you able to share the TiddlyWiki you tried to import from. It
would be good to have some examples.

 Are expecting feedback just in this group, or in a specific thread, or

Anywhere really. I guess the group would be good to discuss the

would be a good place to keep concrete issues.

Thanks again!
Keen for us to find a future-proof solution to all this as it seems to

[tw] Re: Q: ToggleRightSidebar not toggling icon, text, or tooltip.

  Larry

 The icon (actually a single character arrow) and tooltip are set when
 the command link is rendered, and is then toggled when the link is
 clicked.  You have placed multiple ToggleRightSidebar command links in
 your document: one in each tiddler toolbar, and one in the right
 sidebar itself.  Clicking a ToggleRightSidebar command only changes
 the icon/tooltip for *that* link.  Note that showing the sidebar
 doesn't actually re-render it's content, it just shows the hidden
 sidebar DIV that was rendered at startup.  Thus, the
 ToggleRightSidebar command in the sidebar itself initially displays
 the show sidebar icon/tip, even though the sidebar is now visible.
 Fortunately, the actual handling of the click on the command link DOES
 check the current visibility, and thus toggles it correctly, even
 thought the icon/tip don't appear as expected.

 I need to think about this a bit to come up with a reasonable solution
 that doesn't double/triple the current code size just to sync the
 command link appearance.

[tw] Re: EditSection + TiddlerToCPlugin ? [SOLVED]

2012-01-10 Thread Måns
Hi Cyrill

 BUT, where to modify the CSS to change the start position of the TOC
 to the down left side, and also to fix it there even when you move the
 long tiddler down ...

In http://puppy.tiddlyspace.gir.dk/
I did two things:
1) Made use of MoveablePanelPlugin and turned the TOC panel into a
moveable panel, from where you can toggle a hover state
2) Used TiddlersBarPlugin (multi-singlepagemode in tabs) which makes
the TOC panel turn into an overlay of the mainmenu - and you'll get a
new TOC for every individual tiddler, with the effect of getting a new
MainMenu every time you change to a new tab, where the tiddler shows a
TOCpanel..

I couldn't figure out how to make the undocked moveable panel (TOC)
open relative to the tiddler position - ALL moveable toc-panels open
at the exact same place (as an overlay for the MainMenu)...

I'm afraid I have forgotten exactly how I setup the css for the TOC-
panel (as I remember there was a lot of trial and error going on ..) -
You will have to investigate the PageTempate, ViewTemplate and
StyleSheet tiddlers... - sorry...

Later I made these:

http://diverse.tiddlyspace.gir.dk/ (a couple of days ago)
http://diskuter.tiddlyspace.gir.dk/ (today -a pr. tiddler copy of
@diverse - however not quite there yet)
http://diskussion.tiddlyspace.gir.dk/ (today - a clone of @diskuter,
editable by anyone not only members..)

In these spaces I've abandoned the idea of making the TOC-panel
undocked and relative to a tiddler - instead it is docked to a
tiddler (upper left of all tiddlers with sections, when they are in a
uncollapsed state) - or (in the collapsed state) as a popup
(docked,- also a moveable panel!!) from a toolbarbutton (toc left
of icons to the right)...

Here I utilize yet another StyleSheet (ShadowTiddler produced by
CollapseTiddlersPlugin) - so you'll have to dig that as well :-)

[tw] Re: EditSection + TiddlerToCPlugin ? [SOLVED]

2012-01-10 Thread Tobias
Hi Måns,

From a design point of view, I would prefer to have the toc float at a
fixed position with no collapsible sections.

Then, you would always see the toc for the current tiddler and have
all content available at all times, which is important for searching
in the tiddler text. It would, however require that the toc is not
longer than a certain number of lines, otherwise the last ones were
cut off.

An additional link in the toc could allow to jumpt to the top of the
page.

Also, I would not much like the toc to show section numberings if the
tiddler itself does not show them as well.

Personally, I would only use collapsible sections if it was a real
accordeon with a slick animation (jQuery Style) for either showing
just an individual section (while collapsing all others) or all at
once. I would not want to use any extra mere or x button to show
or collapse a section, the latter rather feels like delete, anyways.
Once you click on that section, you sure realize that it's an
accordion... which is why I would make those collapsible/expandable
section headings look more like large buttons.

A simple CLICK toggle does the trick very well and perhaps a CTRL
+CLICK (as indicated by a tooltip) might toggle all sections at once.

var out=;
var materia=config.options.txtMateria;
var topico=config.options.txtTopico;
var comment=comment;
var tids=store.sortTiddlers(store.getMatchingTiddlers(comment  AND
materia AND topico),-modified);
   for (var t=0; ttids.length; t++) {
out+=tids[t].text+ (por +tids[t].modifier+ - [[+tids[t].title+]]
- { +store.getValue(tids[t].title,subtopico)+ /
+store.getValue(tids[t].title,nota)+}\n;
}
return out;
/script

but it does not seem to work...note that I want to search for the tag
comment and for tags that have the value given by txtMateria and
txtTopico..where as this code gives me tag materia and topico,
but there values!!!

Thanks in Advance
Skye

 var materia=config.options.txtMateria;

 var comment=comment;
 var tids=store.sortTiddlers(store.getMatchingTiddlers(comment  AND
 materia AND topico),-modified);

The parameter for getMatchingTiddlers(...) is a text string containing
the boolean 'tag expression'. Thus, you can *construct* the desired
value using standard JS string handling:

var expr=comment AND +config.options.txtMateria+ AND
+config.options.txtTopico;
var tids=store.sortTiddlers(store.getMatchingTiddlers(expr,-
modified);

ON SECOND THOUGHT ... I can go further here.

The array is 2 members wide, 66 deep, and NOT TO BE EDITED.

I think it would be good to have it in a tiddler's body (that had already
occurred to me).

This will contribute to the task of ordering 1,000 tiddlers of the type
scripture passage. The index I have described will provide the top-level
ordering. The ordering from there will be extracted from the tiddler
titles. So Mark 10:23 (chap 10 verse 23) would use the array to get 120,
and then concatenate 10 and 23 (from the title) to produce 1201023.

[tw] Re: Create my own internal-use function

2012-01-10 Thread Tobias Beer
I'm not quite literate with the bible and I don't really intend to
change that, but anyways...

I take it there are 3 levels...

Level 1: book
Level 2: chapter
Level 3: verse

...whereas you would keep your actual content in a level 3 tiddler,
right?

Well, all of this still does not tell me much about the purpose for
which you intend to use a Level 1 array.

So, the bible has a structure... but what about it is important to you
and in which way do you want to make it accessible to you or anyone
else in your TiddlyWiki?

From your description, I would think that all structural information
can either be extracted from a tiddlers title... or in case of a
book from something that isn't quite defined yet... although, perhapt
it is by the name which in your example is Mark.

On the other hand, if you knew the sequence of books, their title and
respective number of chapters and verses, it would be most simple to
generate a toc tiddler that contains links to all existing or not
existing verses.

[tw] Asking your advice how to achieve some specific functions

2012-01-10 Thread Smandoli
http://themanthursday.com/wiki/bible_wiki_TEST.htm

My goal is a TW that presents a work of literature and allows for personal
comments. Besides comments specific to a passage, comments can be
collected topically.

My interest is in the Bible, and this TW has the entire writings of Luke to
serve as a pilot. Plus a couple of topic-based tiddlers.

I provided a half-dozen user stories that should demonstrate what I want. I
need your advice on how to get there!

Thanks Tobias for the input so far.

[tw] Re: EditSection + TiddlerToCPlugin ? [SOLVED]

2012-01-10 Thread Måns
Hi Tobias

 From a design point of view, I would prefer to have the toc float at a
 fixed position with no collapsible sections.

In my setup sections are only collapsed when the tiddler is tagged
with: fold.
The whole tiddler is collapsed by default - unless it is tagged with:
åben (open).
When the whole tiddler is collapsed the TOC is available as a button-
popup (to the right)
When the tiddler is uncollapsed the TOC is available as a box to the
upper left - and easily ripped off as a moveable panel.
If sections are folded - individual sections are opened when you click
at the section title in the TOC.

 Then, you would always see the toc for the current tiddler and have
 all content available at all times, which is important for searching
 in the tiddler text. It would, however require that the toc is not
 longer than a certain number of lines, otherwise the last ones were
 cut off.

 An additional link in the toc could allow to jumpt to the top of the
 page.

There is an arrow in all TOCs (both in collapsed and uncollapsed
tiddler state) to make it scroll to the top... it is however mixed
with the editSection button - and you wouldn't know that it works
untill you've clicked it.-

Try undocking a TOC and click the hover button - open a lot of
tiddlers, and the TOC will follow your view - click the up-arrow (to
the right of the TOCs title) - and it will scroll to the top...

 Also, I would not much like the toc to show section numberings if the
 tiddler itself does not show them as well.

You should be able to remove those from the zzSectionTOCoptions
tiddler...

I don't know how to style the FoldHeadingsPlugin html-section - I did
try without much luck..

I'm having similar problems with the CommentPlugin and the associated
html - I've asked Eric to make it stylable:
http://groups.google.com/group/tiddlywiki/browse_thread/thread/0e3ab04ea4e2f064

What I love about the SectionLinksPlugin is:
1) A tiddler's section is scrolled into view if you link to it
2) You can use ##section for templating !!
3) Theres a TOC (Which is however a little complicated to setup - for
me...)

It solves another problem I've had with EditSectionPlugin ever since I
started using it:
How do I get (autogenerate) a list of editSection buttons for editing
any available sections in a tiddler??

The TOC solves it !!

Now I simply need the TOC to follow the tiddler (which
MoveablePanelPlugin solves -sort of- except I can't make it start in a
hoverable state ) and be out of the way when I don't need it

Your description of what you want it to do - sounds very nice :-) -
I'm just not able to make the hoverable TOCpanel (without
MoveablePanelPlugin) and I don't know how to position it correctly in
relation to a tiddler in a story.

The foldable sections are less important to me - I just thought it was
a great sideeffect that clicking a link in the TOC makes a folded
section open itself :-) - I see you point with the sections treated
accordion style - That would be nice extension to the
FoldHeadingsPlugin :D

@tobias - Why don't you code a styleable extension to the
SectionLinksPlugin, which:
a) Creates a TOC-hover-menu with a wheel for sections??
b) I'd love to be able to append the EditSectionsPlugin macros to the
section links/titles allowing for easy editing of sections from the
TOC-hover-menu, as well!!

[tw] CommentsPlugin nowiki in a button??

2012-01-10 Thread Måns
Hi TwWizards

I'm using Eric's CommentsPlugin, and I've made a custom input button
template:

I like the fact that I can use the %message% as a title for the image
in the nested slider's button. Result: When I hover the image of the
folded message I can read the message.

What I don't like is the fact that messages can't have double square
brackets (or [img[someImage.jpg]]) - or they will break the
nestedslider button...

Q: How do I style the title: %message% part of the button - not to
break the html of the image in the nested slider's button??

+++![img src='URL' style='' title='%message%'(%who%): %subject%|
%who%: %when%]

I guess it's a rather simple HTML question??

Here's the full context:
