2018-07-15 Thread Mohammad
Hans, Tony,
 Thank you for your feedback.
That is quite true! For end user it is much better to have some macros!

I hope I could have free time to wrap interesting and most common elements
into macros.

[tw5] Re: Server setup tutorials; anyone interested?

2018-07-15 Thread 'Mark S.' via TiddlyWiki
Ok. I was able to install Couchdb on a live session of xubuntu. Imagine
that internal arrangements will be similar with Debian and Ubuntu. I used
the existing Couchdb instructions but substituted "bionic" for
"distribution", since the existing documentation is lagging behind.

The option configuration file appears to be at :

/opt/couchdb/etc/local.ini

The Couch setup menu seems to have been updated. The "Security" menu isn't
there, but instead there is "Permissions". You don't appear to need to
specify admin and members with ["name"] syntax any more. There is no
"Update" button.

I was not able to get noteself to connect to the new database. Well, I have
no evidence that i connected.
At no point did it pop up and ask me for name/password. Attempting to
create new tiddlers did not appear to update the database I had set up.
There were cryptic error messages in NS. The couch screen reported 0 # of
docs. I assume that NS will create docs? But it also said 225KB of data.
But I could not find any way to display that data or even a field listing,
and the number didn't budge when I copied in an image file. The only data I
could display was a short pieces of JSON, which could not account for the
225k.

Even if it all worked, how would someone set it up offline, if they weren't
able to connect to https://noteself.github.io/online/ ??

I attempted to delete the database data locally (through the pouch plugin
utility) and then re-connect to the database. But no tiddlers were restored
from the local couch server. As far as I can tell, there was no
communication between the server and the NS instance.

The main configuration screen doesn't have a place for a user name, but the
pouchdb in the settings does. Shouldn't they both have a field for user
name?

As I've mentioned before, the code for deleting an instance appears to
leave significant bits behind. So when you try to reconnect there is a
conflict between the pieces that it does and doesn't remember.

Thanks for promoting this, I have played with w3css in the past. It is a
simple matter of creating a tiddler containing the w3css and tagging it as
a stylesheet.

I have not yet implemented it too much but already I see macros as helpful

eg

\define signage(incontent)

$incontent$

\end

[tw5] Re: How to set background color of select html tag

2018-07-15 Thread TonyM
JD,

The number of issues seems to hover around 600 so they are being addressed,
I think if you can define well a problem, and know a solution and can
facilitate by adding more info they may be more likely to be addressed.

I have also noticed some of the issues raised individually end up being
included in a future release but the issue is not referred back to and
closed.

Keep in mind that their may be other considerations that influence if an
issue is resolved, It appears that batches of issues may be resolved when a
new core facility is introduced.

Don't be shy,

Tony

[tw5] Re: How to extract part of a field and sort extracted stuff

2018-07-15 Thread 'Mark S.' via TiddlyWiki
An awful job?

I can tell you how to fix it, but you may not like it. The pieces of text
that are currently split off into "titles" do not represent tiddlers (at
least not in your sample TW). But many of the filter operators want to
work on real tiddlers.

There is an operator that can make sure that only one of each code is
represented in the outer layer. It is the "each" filter operator. So the
outer filter code would look like:

<$list filter="[has[veld]regexps:veld[(C\d\d\d)]each[]sort[]]"
variable="code">

BUT -- for this to work, each of the codes has to have a real-world
tiddler. That is, you need to make a C801, C803, C804 etc. tiddler in order
for the each operator to work on the result of the regexps. Of course,
there are ways to make these very quickly. The only question is whether you
mind having your space littered with the extra tiddlers.

Hopefully that's not too much of a stretch.

Good luck!

2018-07-15 Thread Mohammad
Dear Pit.W, JD, Julio,
Thank you for your feedback. The purpose here to use ready-to-apply
stylesheets without much digging into CSS.
As I said the purpose is to use these styles *inside *tiddlers like

   - ready to use colors (foreground / background)
   - Google API fonts
   - cards
   - panels
   - tags and badges
   - note boxes
   - colorful buttons
   - customized lists
   -

but as JD said, it is possible to use this framework through page template
but it needs more works.

I appreciate to test and let me know your feedback.

Hi Mark,

The wikitext + regexps.js filter code you gave does an awful job and saves
me a lot of manual 'writing'.
But (there is always a but) I forgot to mention that sometimes more than
one tiddler can contain the same code e.g. `D801`.
In such a case I expected to see 2 tiddlers with D801 in the result list.
But what is displayed contains 4 tiddlers: 2x the expected 2 tiddlers. In
case 3 tiddlers contain the same 'code', the result displays 3x the
expected 3 tiddlers, and so on.

I tried to understand/change your wikitext code to no avail.
Would you be so kind to look into this problem?

Nice proof of concept!

Though I haven't read much of W3.CSS framework itself, maybe you can
experiment with applying the classes and id's to PageTemplate tiddlers?
Although I imagine there'd be a lot of adjustments to be made (regarding
the state of the sidebar and how the story river would react to it, etc.)

Bob is never going to be secure in the way that you would want online, but
I am working on an express-based backend server that works with Bob and has
proper security. It is actually what the demo wiki I am currently using is
being served on. It needs a server that can run node but it should be fine
on something like one of the cheaper digital ocean droplets.

I am currently adding polish to it and then I need to do another security
audit before I release the code. I hope that is soon because I have another

Oh yeah, I don't know about using it with Bob's multi-user mode yet as I

Bob, I use on my personal wiki where I'm the lone user, and yeah Plainrevs

I am... actually hoping for a secure, multiuser version of TiddlySpot.
Being, as of yet, ignorant of backend stuff... am I mistaken to think that

[tw5] Re: How to create list of tiddlers and pass to tabs macro?

2018-07-15 Thread Jed Carty
If perhaps you just want to use tiddlywiki than you can just write out a
list and have it work the way you want, like this:

in one tiddler, lets call it 'Tabs List' put the list of tabs you want like
this (in the text field with nothing else):

Tab1
Tab2
[[Tab3 has spaces in the name]]

then in the tiddler where you want your tabs displayed use this:

<>

you can of course call the list tiddler whatever you want, just change the
"[enlist{Tabs List}]" and replace Tabs List with the tiddler title.

You can also do the same thing using a list field by just writing the list
in the field in the same way (any whitespace works between titles, it
doesn't have to be new lines)

[tw5] Re: How to create list of tiddlers and pass to tabs macro?

2018-07-15 Thread Jed Carty
It would be something like this:

<$set name=someList value=<>>
<$macrocall $name=tabs filter=<>/>

the interface between javascript and the much maligned widgets can be a bit
complex because the widgets are designed to make markup tasks simple. One
result of the simplicity and usability is a reduction in functionality as
compared to a complete programming language.

But if javascript is as simple as implied than there should be no trouble
just making what is necessary in javascript without the widgets.

[tw5] How to set background color of select html tag

2018-07-15 Thread talha131

JD suggested the solution to this issue. I am
documenting it here for others who might face the same issue.
Problem

Color palette setting may make the text in dropdown list ()
invisible

[image: Screen Shot 2018-07-15 at 00.05.08]

To reproduce the issue, try Neonize or C8 Dark palette from here
.
Solution

That’s because the select HTML tag’s background is not defined in the core
themes. We need to style it separately, by adding this CSS to any tiddler
tagged $:/tags/Stylesheet

select { background: <>; }

Or if you want the tiddler background color:

select { background: <>; }

Or if you want it to be transparent:

select { background: transparent; }

Thanks JD

Right. I have seen some example JS macros. In the examples, a simple
parameter is passed to JS macro and it returns an output.

Currently, I am not sure how JS is used with TW constructs like tabs macro
for example.

Say I create a JS macro, that returns a list of tiddlers. How do I use it
with tabs?

The list field (s) is the closest thing to arrays in WikiText.

Ouch! I think I will stick with using tags then. I don’t think editing

Hello, in *$:/ControlPanel* > *Appearance *> *Theme Tweaks* there is the

[tw5] Presenting Plainrevs plugin, my take on a tiddler revision system

2018-07-15 Thread TonyM
Jd,

This looks great. I am highly likely to use it. I will test it out in comming
days.

I will also see how it works with a version numbering system I am building to
control tiddlers that are distributed to other wikis.

Thanks for sharing,

Tony

[tw5] Non Scrollable Headers

2018-07-15 Thread Adam
Greetings everyone,

how can I prevent the headers of the tiddlers from moving away when I
scroll? What I want is for them to always be visible at the top of the page
when I scroll down.

This is especially useful when I work with long tiddlers.

Cheers,
Adam

[tw5] Presenting Plainrevs plugin, my take on a tiddler revision system

2018-07-15 Thread JD
Hello everyone,

I'd like to present my revisioning system packaged in a plugin. For those
interested, demo site is here:

http://j.d.revisions.tiddlyspot.com/

It's built on wikitext, and executes a macro that will record all the
fields of a tiddler before changes to it are saved. These saved versions
are available under the tiddler's *info* > *Revisions* tab, and from there
you can... ① show differences with the current version, ② restore that
revision, ③ pin it so it won't be deleted when the set max number of
revisions is reached (as a snapshot, if you will), or ④ delete that
revision. Default number of revisions kept are 3, but can be redefined on a
per-tiddler basis.

It's a non-JS approach (bec I don't know JS)... What that means, I don't
know, really.

I hope it's as helpful to users as it is to me. Please do report bugs!

[tw5] Re: [TW5] Announcing Single Executable version using Bob 1.0.2 Sourdough Biscuits

2018-07-15 Thread Jed Carty
By default the single executable version tries to open up the systems
default browser when it starts, which is probably causes problems if you
are running it headless. Try setting the 'suppressBrowser' property to true
in settings.json.

[tw5] Re: Quickly highlight text for later action CSS WikiText

2018-07-15 Thread Leopold Bloom
Thanks to this thread I am going to steal this method to list items to
review.

I chose a simple route. Instead of manually editing .js files.

First, I chose to go with the subscript shortcut (*Ctrl-Shift-B*) which
inserts two commas before and after the selected text:

,,Hello World,,

Second, I created a stylesheet tiddler Highlight CSS and tagged it
$:/tags/Stylesheet (shared in this thread earlier):

sub {
  font-size: inherit;
  vertical-align: baseline  ;
  line-height: 0 ;
  background-color: #9dd100;
  top: 0;
}

Third, in my Index tiddler (this is my first tiddler, at the top of my
page):

$list filter="[!is[system]search[,,]]">
@@color:red; <$view field="created" format="date" template="0DD-0MM-"
/>@@
<$link><$view field="title"/>

I would have liked it to be a regex, but the one I come up with is not
working *(?:,,).*(?:,,)* with the regexp filter. But this will do it for
now.
