Hi Jed,

My wikis found automatically. Creating new from Edition, Empty created the
right name, but two of them.
Creating from html, stil got NewWiki - 1, 2 and 3. But they are found too.
I do have slow hardware, it just doesn't feel that way using Tiddlywiki and
now also Bob.

Jed, The new wikis from html do show up after updating the list in the
control panel. And I just deleted the superfluos NewWiki 1 2 and 3 and
renamed one of them the name I wanted. That do show up in the list now. I
am very happy as it is an old wiki with lots of beautytricks ;-)...enormous
and now it runs beautifully.

Creating from edition, Empty gets the right name and is placed in the Wikis
folder under Bob, but it does not show up in the wikis list. Maybe the
settings?

Jed, you are creating complicated software and then it is run by all sorts
of users on all sorts of systems. But we love it.

Hi Jed,

Boblinux32: Creating a new wiki from html, this time around "only" created
NewWiki and 3 numbered ones also. But it did *not* go on an on and on. I do
enter a name for the new wiki but that has not worked in any of the
releases for me. Available Wikis list show all 4 of them.

Creating from Edition, Empty does create a new wiki in the Wikis folder and
with the name i wanted. Nothing is shown in the Available Wikis list.

It feels quicker and my computer is not heating this time.

Thank you for all your work, Jed,

Hi Jed,

BobLinux32, I created a new wiki from empty, it was created in the Wikis
folder but Auto-populate list from Wikis folder does not show any wiki.
Then I wanted to create from html. Selected the file and gave a new name.
The same happened as with the last Bob release. This time just not in the
Wikis folder. It totally went berserk creating NewWiki, NewWiki1 and so on
an on. I could not really do anything on my computer, no way to stop it.
But I could shut down computer.

In the title above you called it Friend potatoes, but I did realize when
downloading it was really *Fried* Potatoes ;-)

Hi Jed,

*It works,* I am over the moon happy to "see Bob" - and I have just created
a new wiki from empty, it showed up in the list and when I opened the
link.The wiki.
One of the earlier releases DID open Bob, but I was never able to create a
wiki.

Thank you so much, Jed. I am happy you create releases for so many systems.
Not many are using 32bit anymore, in fact since no one has asked about this
running Bob before, I might be the only one?

It IS a 10 year old netbook with a 12" screen - but sooo clear for my old
eyes. Linux, browser and tiddlywiki matches old computers perfectly.

Thanks,

Hi Josiah,

On Linux using Chromium and TW5 version 5.1.19, it worked just as explained
by BJ, http://bjtools.tiddlyspot.com/#VisualEditor

Drag and drop the plugin to your TW. Save and refresh.

I used it from the web and got the link
https://ckeditor.com/ckeditor-4/download/

Open tiddler: $:/plugin/bj/visualeditor/includelib

Insert :http://cdn.ckeditor.com/4.11.3/standard/ckeditor.js";>

Save and refresh your TW.

Create a new tiddler, set the type to text/x-htmlp. Save and close the
tiddler. When you open your tiddler again it will load the visual editor.

Downloading and using library locally I have never tried. Using it from the
web it does not take long time to load.

[tw5] Re: Announcing 4 New Plugins (sort of)

2019-03-16 Thread Birthe C
Hi Admis,

The palette I used was "*Blue* - A blue theme" The first one listed in the
palette tab.
The buttons are easy drag button, Create a new story window and Choose the
story visualisation. They "disappear" but are visual when hovering.
But looking at it once more I found out that it is because the buttons turn
white. So in classic view they are white on the blue background but of
course they are not visible when changing to mentat.
Another palette "Rocker -A dark theme", only the save button is visible.
A warning that this can happen with some of the palette choices would be
enough.

Hi Admis,

As far as I can see, you have very few places that could be translated, but
even so it would be nice to have an easy way of doing that. You see, your
plugins are going to be VERY popular ;-)

To my knowledge very few plugin authors has done that. Thomas Elmiger did.
The translations are in his Listreveal plugin
https://tid.li/tw5/plugins.html#%24%3A%2Fplugins%2Ftelmiger%2Flistreveal.
Jan also did in Metatabs you can find it here:
http://slidesnstories.tiddlyspot.com/#About%20MetaTabs.

Benefit: You avoid people (like myself) messing around with your plugins.

(I do realize this if of low priority)

Hi Admis,

Well I tested some more. The keys work sort of outside of Tiddlywiki. I am

keys for that. (The good part ...now I found those keys;-)

I tested your tiddlywiki in Firefox on Linux also, that did not work for me

I do not think it matters all that much, the link open i a window tab. I
love that we are able to drag the tab from one window to another.

Having set your title and subtitle it is really nice to use

 Avoiding

follow the GettingStarted tiddler

[tw5] Re: Classic view for TW 5

2019-03-13 Thread Birthe C
Hi Roland,

I agree with Tony. Many of us have been where you are now. I got a kick in
the back though, as most of my tiddlywikies were on a Danish tiddlyspace
that became unworkable after an upgrade. (A blessing in disguise). Your
luck will be that there are now so many examples and plugins to look at and
get ideas from.

Alphonso mentioned my old Tiddlywiki http://bc.classic.tiddlyspot.com/ .
Thanks Alphonso.
I would advise against it though - and never used it myself. The most
important thing is to get to know the new version look at the plugins and
the examples to get an idea how you can make your new wiki work for you and
your material.

https://dynalist.io/d/zUP-nIWu2FFoXH-oM7L7d9DM is where to look for the
goodies.

Tobias Beers http://tobibeer.github.io/tw/classic/

Getting to know the new version, find how you could structure your
tiddlers, find the plugins etc, that you will need. Get your tiddlers into
the new TW. When you have done that, you will also be able to change the
looks, but really that is not the most important part - and I think you
will have other wishes at that time ;-)

Time consuming, yes absolutely, but very worth it if you ask me. When I
started I would absolutely not have said so, but well, it is so good and
really in many ways easier to use.

Ask in this group and get help.

All the best for your transition,

Birthe

Hi Barro,

You have a point, it will not always be easy to find the right tag. I would
not want to miss out on anything on that account. I would love a mywiki tag
in the hope of more people showing a more or less empty version of the TW
they love to use - or just a little "something" they like to use in the

"finished" and all that. Not everyone is a programmer but end users do have

I do not understand why you find "Beginners" off putting. No matter who you
are and what you know, if you haven't used Tiddlywiki before, you are new
to Tiddlywiki = beginner.

I know absolutely nothing about programming. I have used Tiddlywiki for
many years now mostly because I had a very good teacher (Måns). Tiddlywiki
is so wonderful, it should really be for everyone, but people like myself
need all the help they can get. (Beginners Guide). The difference will be
the time they use going through your guide, at least I think.

Do you know people never reading manuals? They are often the people who
think they know it all.think it is sooo easy, nothing to it. You can
not write a Guide for them.

Beginner can be a friendly and welcoming word to new users, as in this is
also for you, no expectations of programming skills.

[tw5] Re: How do I use this thing?

2018-06-10 Thread Birthe C
Using savetiddlers extension you must create a subdir called
tiddlywikilocations in the Download dir. Using linux I can also use folders
linked to tiddlywikilocations. I think Mark S once explained that windows
users could use junctions.

For dropbox I use https://twcloud.github.io/tw5-dropbox/

It works well. I still find that the browser restrictions makes it more
difficult to have our wikies sorted. Give your wikifile a name you can
recognize in all this, because no matter what, at least I end up with files
called tiddlywiki, tiddlywiki1, tiddlywiki2, and also empty and upgrade
files.

Thank you. I am using Linux Mate, but I have node installed as you explain.

it in one place.)

I use TiddlyDesktop mainly to make it easy for my boyfriend to use some
wikies, TWclassic and TW5. It is only a few really. TiddlyServer (file and
Folder wikis) and have just updated. I like that a lot.

I am having problems with Bob. Jed created a single executable for 32 bit,
and that was what I needed. It starts and open the wiki in my browser
(Chromium), but that is all. ( It is clear to me that I totally lack
understanding - it works like tiddly Flop for me) ;-).

I am an end user of TW and Linux and know nothing about servers. I am
mostly a copy paster or trial and error person ;-)

Hi Mohammad,

BurningTreeC
explained that the sidebar state is in "$:/state/sidebar". If the text is
yes sidebar is shown if the text is no is i hidden.

In the example code you got "$:/state/sidebar" is transcluded, but you
could that will transclude the text that is already there. You could inset
in you code:
<$action-setfield $tiddler="$:/state/sidebar" text="no"/> and of course
also again with the text yes.

The button in the top left corner toggles $:/tags/Stylesheet to

I tried it, I never saw any activity.

I think the people able to answer your questions will do so in this group.
No one has unlimited time. Answering the same questions over and over at
several platforms will not help that. A lot of the same people are working
on their own projects often ending up making TW5 better or create great
plugins we can all use.
People in this group comes from all over the world. That means when you ask
you question the people who might answer it could be sleeping or be at work.

You are right that links to the channel will bring more people to it.
Before you have to make sure that it is not only people wanting to
askbut also enough to answer otherwise everyone end up disapointed.

Hallo Surya,

Beispiele hier sehen:

Hi Tony,

Thank you, very nice addition to our toolbox. It works well and the look
may be good for a new user, as they can at times have some difficulty
understanding what is TW5 itself at what is from a plugin. What I do not
like so much is that when the buttons are used in the right side the
dropdown goes to the right making the text unreadable.

Hope you have a good time travelling,

Hi Diego,
Why http://tiddlywiki5.tiddlyspot.com? I do not understand. You have a
tiddlyspot and you want to upload a file to that one. Put the file you want
to upload in your download folder. Open it in the browser. Adding password
did not work for me either, I have to delete the wikiname first...then ad
wikiname and passwords, then it uploads.

Hope for success,

[tw] Re: Saving behaviour of a wiki on Tiddlyspot?

2018-01-26 Thread Birthe C
Hi Surya,

The strange time is confusing when we have to restore backups from
tiddlyspot. The host is in another time zone. Earlier today i looked at
your wiki, if it is *that* wiki, at that time there were lots of tiddlers
from your hard work yesterday. Now if I had not closed the tab with your
wiki and not refreshed the browser, I could have saved a local copy of it
all having tiddlers you had lost.

My friend and I saved some very hard tiddlywiki work at a time that way.

2018-01-26 Thread Birthe C
Hi Surya,
Have you tried to go to tiddlyspot backup. Your url/backup, to see if
anything more recent was saved before the "accident".
No one is able to change anything in your wiki, they cannot save it. That
is if the person does not have your password.

If another person used your computer and browser it might remember your
password and save your wiki, if that person is editing it. Otherwise saving
will download a local copy of your tiddlywiki.
