cvs commit: jakarta-tomcat-jasper/jasper2/src/share/org/apache/jasper/servlet JasperLoader.java
luehe 2005/03/29 10:33:21 Modified:jasper2/src/share/org/apache/jasper/servlet JasperLoader.java Log: Simplified the loading of class resources in JasperLoader. There is no reason for it to use different classloaders depending on whether security is on (classloader returned by Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader()) or off (parent classloader). I think we have been using different classloaders for historical reasons, because JspC.java didn't use to set thread context classloader until the fix for Bugzilla 20155 required it to do so. Instead, we should use parent classloader consistently, which always corresponds to the URLClassLoader with access to WEB-INF/lib[classes]: 1. In JspC.java, we construct URLClassLoader and set it as the parent of JasperLoader. 2. When invoked from JspServlet, we acquire the context classloader (which corresponds to WebappClassLoader) inside the constructor of JspRuntimeContext (no need for doing this inside a privileged block there) and set it as the parent of JasperLoader. Ran all TCKs and jsp-examples with and without security enabled. Let me know if you see anything wrong. The results are that a session will never timeout. Looking into the code and adding log entries, basically the StandardSession mantains an access count to determine how many threads are using the session at once. The counter is incremented at the beginning of the request and decremented during the recyle at the end if the session object is not null. The race condition must be that the shared session object becomes unavailable to recyle and therefore is left with a positive access count. The session monitor thread (in the StandardManager) uses the isValid to expire timed out sessions. But when a positive access count remains the session is always valid and therefore will never expire. We've also confirmed this behavior on 5.5.8. To see this effect, write a HttpSessionListener object for the web application and monitor session creation and destruction with a counter and using jmeter have a web page that has 2 javascript include tags calling each a servlet that uses the session for processing. Run up the jmeter on the server and then note the number of sessions that never expire, even though you can print out last access times that are far into the past. This is easier to see right away if you set session timeout to something low like a couple of minutes. If I get a chance to put more time into this I will followup with more and possibly have test files and scripts to highlight this. -- Configure bugmail: http://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug, or are watching the assignee. - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

It seems you don't have a legitimate scenarion for your problem. - INVALID Try a web page that has 2 javascript src tags each calling a servlet from the same web application container. The browser will hand that off to background threads (same ones used to download images) and bingo simultaneous servlet requests with same JSESSIONID cookie. So while yes its rather difficult for a user to pull off simultaneous requests on the same session a browser application has no such problem. You could probably see this one happen with a frame page with a servlet in each frame being called simultaneously as well, and multiple image generating servlets on a web page customizing output based on session. So I see more than one valid scenario for this.
