If you are on one of the Islands such as Ambergris or cawker you would have plenty of Salt going west, if you can get a beach location on the East.  Same for some area of Placentia.  In February I did not think the noise was that bad from V3M/V31MU. We were also set up to work the USA and VE

My point was as follows. Apart from the launch point in V3, the entire path is over salt water. This means that any ground reflections will happen with the minimum loss. Even with several hops, this element of path attenuation will therefore be minimal. My main observation is that QSO

Hi Darrel, No, it's a mish mash of oddly shapen all wire inverted L's in the woods. The ends do not point at each other at all. Viewed from above, the entire mish mash of wires and 2 raised radials/per would look almost like a perfect square. Mike, Coreen & Corey Keswick

Terry, I think Bill KH7XS just went through this exercise. That said, my (Comtek) 80m 4-square is made 100% from wire and hung in the woods as inverted L's. Raised radials. Seems to work. Electrons don't (really) care if you use $1000 worth of aluminum or $100 of used wire.

I agree about the pie.  I have done a bit of reading.  Their experimental station will use a 50kW broadcast xmtr to (they say) generate a Zenneck surface vertical EM wave with little radiation loss into the sky by using a special "probe".  Zenneck waves are real and have been demonstrated in a

Hi Folks, I've decided to get serious and try to put up an 80 meter 4-Square around my 117' tower of Rohn 55. Getting into my place can be a VERY SERIOUS CHALLENGE to any tandem rig so that may make getting 40' long 3" and 2" irrigation tubing difficult to deliver. I've got new steel racks

This is Wes agreeing with Wes re the "too much loss in the system". In an efficient system on 160 the SWR curve should not be so broad. Years ago I had an Inverted L configured like what you have, with the vertical wire going up about 65' spaced about 18" off the tower. The SWR was broad. I

I believe you could get by with less radials with a phased array. In that case all of the elements are "driven" so the current distribution in each element will be forced. With a parasitic element proper current distribution and thus gain is impacted by ground resistance so a good, effective

I was going to try to phase 2 80m verticals but just could not find the room.  You get endfire and broadside. I assume you have to put down the same radial field for a Parasitic element as a driven one?  Maybe I am wrong here. On 2/9/2018 3:38 PM, Joel Harrison wrote: Interesting question
