You can also stream Ogg files from Spotify at 320kbps but whether that's
considered better than MP3 at 320kbps is again a matter for debate

No. It just sometimes complicates things (not sound quality-wise, but in
terms of ease of use / stability).
Maybe this discussion should move to the "audiophile"
Yesterday after some hick-up, everything worked fine until this morning
(CET). Only after lunch spotify on my squeezebox radio's started to
work again.

Yes, one can stream FLAC files via TIDAL, with a TIDAL premium paid
account. (You may need to use

All this can be blown away by two other issues .
Which version/master is it , the major factor in SQ . There are some
masters of some
Or if the 320kbps MP3 or Ogg was created from some new digital
remastering that introduced "loudness" for the masses with cheap earbuds
screwed into their ears.

I'm having the same problem, again.
Spotify says "The client is too old, please update software"
and my fav.radiochannel sometimes says the same, and sometimes "404
error".

No, but everyone, independent of their level of knowledge, can at least
try to avoid vague, imprecise and overly general questions that contain
implicit assumptions.

In proxied streaming your LMS would connect to the stream, then forward
the data to your player. In direct streaming the data goes straight from
the service's servers to your player. It would continue to play even if
you shut down
Haha, yep, here it's also nicely translated into Dutch. Although it's
really a useless warning message, since we all have the latest firmware
and that's not related. I guess it's just a catch-all warning.

Let's try to answer sensibly.
As Mnyb says the Touch is a streaming client device.
It has no direct physical connection to your PC.
It should be connected to your router either wired (preferred) or
wireless.
The Touch has 3 possible modes of operation.
1. Standalone. This is where it connects
I wrote them about this issue more than 12h ago - still no word :-(.
