[Touch-packages] [Bug 1451955] Re: 15.04 do not boot starting version 219

2015-05-12 Thread Martin Pitt
Ah, so recovery mode works, but neither the standard nor the upstart
boot entries work?

Your fstab looks as expected, but you didn't attach blkid; now you don't
need to any more, recovery mode's log shows that this part was alright.

Can you go back to the grub boot menu, edit the standard Ubuntu entry,
go to the linux line, drop quiet and splash, and then press Ctrl+X
to boot that? This should give some more helpful screen output. Please
do a photo of what happens, and when it stops doing anything.

Yeah – usually bugs don’t go away by themselves, so if you see no
updates, you can assume the bug is still there.

Please don’t post more “confirmations” or void +1s, which are annoying
for bug subscribers – but more importantly, are anti-ecological.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1450137] Re: Qt5 applications crash when switching screens

2015-05-12 Thread Antonis Kanouras
Re: the impact, I guess it affects users on laptops that regularly
(dis)connect external screens (eg. using same laptop at work home or
connecting the laptop to a TV to watch a movie) without shutting down
the machine. From the few (10) Kubuntu 15.04 installations I can be
blamed for, I'm the only one who noticed the bug even though I managed
to reproduce it on all of them.

Anyway, after reading the qtbugs and trying to cherry-pick a few
relevant upstream commits, I think Qt 5.4.1 is a lost cause for this bug
at this point, so feel free to postpone/cancel this SRU.

As my next steps, I'll try Fedora, and also 5.4.2 5.5 on Vivid Wily
to see if I can reproduce it. Will take a few days however. :/

of erroneous screen change singals being emitted too often per second. This
would however only reveal a lower level issue in the foundations that
ultimately needs to be fixed anyway.

  # Other Info
  The upstream code review [1] explains the issue and solution pretty well.

  https://codereview.qt-project.org/#/c/00/

  - original report ---

  When switching screens (e. g. when putting the laptop onto the docking
  station the notebook screen is turned off and the external one is
  turned on) Qt5 applications (including plasmashell) quite often crash.
  This makes my laptop unusable, since I do that very frequently.

  The problem has already been described here:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=341497
  Apparently it is fixed in Qt 5.5

  I am running Kubuntu 15.04 64bit and libqt5gui5 5.4.1+dfsg-2ubuntu4.

Hello,

I'm now running latest kernel 3.19 from vivid:

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1443178] Re: Accounts Service always relies on language fallback if never set by the user

2015-05-12 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
I consulted with Sebastien Bacher and Lars Uebernickel at #ubuntu-
desktop, and we concluded that it's better to cache the values in memory
compared to silently saving them as user settings. Accordingly I have
uploaded a patch which adds two static variables inside
user_get_fallback_value() to prevent execution of expensive code at each
invocation.

** Changed in: accountsservice (Ubuntu)
   Status: In Progress = Fix Committed

  version version: 169
  version ubuntu: 20150412
  version device: 20150210
  version custom: 20150412

  This causes a bad side effect when changing volume via indicator-
  sound, as that will cause a sync to accountsservice in order to sync
  the volume. Once that sync happens, it will request the user
  properties, and in case the user doesn't have a valid language at
  /var/lib/AccountsService/users/user, it will always rely on the
  fallback, which would be fine if calculating the fallback wasn't 't so
  cpu or i/o intensive (and that happens multiple times).

  As a test, just flash latest vivid image on mako, don't set any
  language when the wizard shows up, run top and then change the volume
  by pressing volume up/down. This is what I see with mako:

   PID USER  PR  NIVIRTRESSHR S  %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
  2609 phablet   20   0  499660 121220  52688 S   7.6  6.5   0:41.69 unity8
  5600 phablet   20   03676   1760   1288 R   6.0  0.1   0:00.19

  1312 root  20   0  211532  15572  11344 S   1.9  0.8   0:07.25
unity-system-co
  1316 phablet   20   0   36532   3792   2928 S   1.3  0.2   0:01.66
accounts-daemon

  And the reason why:
  src/user.c
  ...
  static void
  user_get_property (GObject*object,
 guint   param_id,
 GValue *value,
 GParamSpec *pspec)
  {
  User *user = USER (object);
  ...
  case PROP_LANGUAGE:
  if (user-language)
  g_value_set_string (value, user-language);
  else
  g_value_set_string (value, user_get_fallback_value
(user, Language));
  break;
  case PROP_FORMATS_LOCALE:
  if (user-formats_locale)
  g_value_set_string (value, user-formats_locale);
  else
  g_value_set_string (value, user_get_fallback_value
(user, FormatsLocale));
  break;

  user_set_property never gets called unless the user changes the system
  language from system-settings or wizard.

  Once you change the language, it will set a valid language at
  /var/lib/AccountsService/users/user, causing this behavior to stop.

  Another bad side effect of this issue is that it takes quite a while
  for accountsservice to reply back to indicator-sound when the sync
  happens, possibly causing sync aborts (as indicator-sound only waits 1
  second before triggering another sync).

  Some possible ways to fix this issue:
  1) Make wizard to set language even when the selected language is already the
default one;
  2) Change accountsservice to save the fallback value at the first time it
gets that from the system;

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1447756] Re: segfault in log.c code causes phone reboot loops

2015-05-12 Thread Ondrej Kubik
I can confirm fix: http://paste.ubuntu.com/11095313/ does the job.
It will safely ignore entries of log_unflushed_files list which have
log-unflushed-len set to zero. Since we know how this state is reached it
seems like previous nih_assert (log-unflushed-len); was too aggressive.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1450168] Re: Map data should be shared between apps

2015-05-12 Thread Alberto Mardegan
I had a chat with Alex Blasche from the Qt project about making the
necessary changes to the QtLocation plugin API so that geoservice
plugins would be allowed to use an external download manager and a tile
cache service. He does not have objections to these extensions in
principle, but it's up to us to make the first move.

I added the apparmor-easyprof-ubuntu project to the bug, because first
of all we need to know if the security team agrees on opening up
~/.cache/QtLocation/ (this is the root dir where all cached tiles would
be stored) for reading.

  Map data should be shared between apps

Status in apparmor-easyprof-ubuntu package in Ubuntu:
  New
Status in qtlocation-opensource-src package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  The libqtgeoservices_osm.so plugin gets loaded in the same process as
  the application using it, and stores all the map tiles into ~/.cache
  /click-package/

  This means that different apps will be unable to share the data,
  leading to wasted filesystem space.

  I suggest to modify the plugin so that:

  1) Tiles are stored in a common place (and apparmor rules are relaxed
  to allow read access to that): ~/.cache/libqtgeoservices_osm/, for
  example

  2) Tile downloads are managed by a separate service, started on
  demand.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1447756] Re: segfault in log.c code causes phone reboot loops

2015-05-12 Thread James Hunt
Hi Ondrej,

Regarding #15, I'm not sure this is correct. As you say, when the job
process terminates, job_process_terminated() gets called. This calls
log_handle_unflushed() and that function calls log_read_watch(), which
ultimately calls write(2). However, even if the write is successful
before 'initctl notify-disk-writeable' gets called, if you look at
log_handle_unflushed()...

 743 log_handle_unflushed (void *parent, Log *log)
 744 {
 745 NihListEntry  *elem;
 746
 747 nih_assert (log);
 748 nih_assert (log-detached == 0);
 749
 750 log_read_watch (log);
 751
 752 if (! log-unflushed-len)
 753 return 1;

So, if the write is successful and log-unflushed-len becomes zero, the
function returns 1 (meaning log does not need to be added to the
unflushed list) and crucially the log is not added to the unflushed
list.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1311866] Re: update binutils and GCC for trusty

2015-05-12 Thread Steve Langasek
 to make it clear, there never was a no-change rebuild. no,
 ppc64el isn't a regression, it successfully built in the updates
 test rebuild.

Ok, thanks for the clarification. I somehow had the impression that
http://people.ubuntuwire.org/~wgrant/rebuild-ftbfs-test/test-
rebuild-20150317-updates-trusty.html was a rebuild with the stock
toolchain, but a quick look at build logs shows that this was not the
case.

So I agree that the firefox and gcc-4.7 build failures are not issues.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1454463] Re: CUPS not allowed to mknod to /var/log by apparmor

2015-05-12 Thread Seth Arnold
I noticed the following error early in the logs:

May 13 09:50:29 server kernel: [47923.441413] type=1400
audit(1431474629.549:812): apparmor=DENIED operation=mknod
profile=/usr/sbin/cupsd name=/data/var/log/cups/error_log pid=7814
comm=cupsd requested_mask=c denied_mask=c fsuid=0 ouid=0

This looks a lot like you have a symlink from /var to /data/var -- is
this correct? what other symlinks do you have on your system?

You can rewrite apparmor policy in a single place to handle these kinds
of symlinks using the 'alias' directive; put lines like:

alias /var/ - /data/var/

into your /etc/apparmor.d/tunables/alias file and then reload policies
with apparmor_parser --replace /etc/apparmor.d/

Then restart cups and see if it is allowed to access its logs again.

Thanks

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1454228] Re: Apps search often returns irrelevant results

2015-05-12 Thread Alejandro J. Cura
Btw, the Keywords= fields in existing .desktop files are a mixed bag.
Some have decent content, some don't.

Here is a list of the preinstalled ones in krillin:

English keywords: http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/11095533/
Spanish keywords: http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/11095541/

After trying a few searches like the ones pointed out by mpt, I believe
the scope should drop mid-word matches (eg: ca should not return
Authenticator).

But still, I think keyword matches are good (eg: returning The Weather
Channel when the user searches for Forecast). If results were shown
in a list (like searching in the store scope), perhaps the found keyword
could be shown in a light gray subtitle.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1351534] [NEW] device doesn't detect current time zone

2015-05-12 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

On first phone boot, or after flashing a new image, the user's time zone
isn't auto-detected. Instead, the system always defaults to UTC.

It should probably default instead to checking the cell provider for
time zone information, or GPS (if enabled), or if there is a network
connection, get an approximate location from that (look up the current
access point, in case it has been mapped).

I'm not entirely sure which system component or launchpad project this
belongs in, so some re-targeting help would be appreciated.

  Version:  4.2.4-7ubuntu12

  The current DHCP package in Ubuntu can't handle IPoIB clients. For
  IB, Mellanox uses IPoIB, which is “Eth emulator” for the control path.
  DHCP is not working in this mode without a patch for DHCP server.

  ISC-DHCP-SERVER Missing GPXE patch.

  After applying GPXE patch only we faced the following problems:

  After apply

  1.

  dhcp ipoib, does not write in the log on which interface the dhcp work
  upon when starting the dhcp server using “/etc/init.d/isc-dhcp-server
  start” we don’t see the line that tells on which interfaces the dhcpd
  is listening on the /var/log/syslog when running it with “dhcpd –d”
  command – we do see it.

  2.

  dhcp ipoib ipv6, it did not provide ip6 when we start 2 ib interfaces
  in a parallel using the following setup:

  HOST_A:
  acting as a dhcp server, listening on one of its
  ipoib (ib0) interfaces.

  HOST_B:
  running dhcp clients on two ipoib interfaces (ib1, ib2) ib1
  and ib2 are two ports onf the same HCA both interfaces are
  configured in /etc/interfaces such as:

  auto ib1
  iface ib1 inet6 dhcp
 both
interfaces are configured in /etc/dhcp/dhclient.conf with their
dhcp-client-identifier Ib0@HOST_A, Ib1@HOST_B and Ib2@HOST_B are connected to
an infiniband switch.

  We are running on the client (HOST_B) the following:

  $ ifup ib1
  - ib1 get configured as expected

  but then when we run on the other interface:
  $ ifup ib2
  - ib2 get configured, but ib1 is losing its configuration

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1451247] Re: wrong ntpdate dependency in ubuntu-minimal

2015-05-12 Thread Bryan Quigley
@god, it's already included as part of the systemd package. I guess
there could be an issue if touch doesn't switch from upstart in 15.10,
but other than that it should just work. It might also not be turned
on everywhere yet, but that's also easier to see/test when ntpdate is
not seeded.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1450168] Re: Map data should be shared between apps

2015-05-12 Thread Jamie Strandboge
My concern with allowing all apps access to ~/.cache/QtLocation is that
it would be possible for an untrusted app to collect cached map data
without the user's knowledge and send it off somewhere, which is why we
don't share other caches (such as oxide's web cache). It would probably
be ok to have an out of process trusted helper give access to/display
these files in some way such that when an app contacted the trusted
helper, it would display a trust prompt allowing access to shared
location data.

  I suggest to modify the plugin so that:

  1) Tiles are stored in a common place (and apparmor rules are relaxed

  example

  2) Tile downloads are managed by a separate service, started on

Sorry in previous comment, replace all flash with flush
Actually one more issue I can see there is this:
Job dies - it's added to log_unflushed_files when it has unflushed data
but if job is restarted before we get disk writable signal, it will mess up the
things, job will still remain in log_unflushed_files
and once we call log_file_write it will try to flush unflushed data, without

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1450137] Re: Qt5 applications crash when switching screens

2015-05-12 Thread Antonis Kanouras
I did a few tests:

On the first reboot after installing qtdeclarative from the Wily PPA on
Vivid, I probably got lucky and managed to plug/unplug the external
monitor 4 times before the first crash (nvidia-340's xrandr also stopped
detecting changes for the next 2 topology changes at that point,
although that's nothing new).

On subsequent reboots I'm getting Plasma/Kwin/Konsole crashes on almost every
screen change.
Some changes in behaviour that I noticed:

1. Dr. Konqi is started for kwin crashes, but no window appears (no mention of
it in xlsclients either).
2. Dr. Konqi is not started for plasmashell crashes (crashes on almost every
screen change).
3. Dr. Konqi is not started for Konsole crashes (crashes on every screen
change).
4. krunner does not crash on screen change - it crashes instead when called
with Alt+F2, with Dr. Konqi appearing. It doesn't allow me to report krunner
crashes by the way, but that's another bug. The backtrace (which I'm attaching)
is different this time, there's no physicalSize() in it. Luckily it's restarted
right after usually, so there's a way to recover manually.
5. System Settings 5 also usually crashes around screen changes; that's caught
by apport however, which gives me zero information.
6. Usually after a crash, the Plasma panel flickers, with only the spacer being
displayed when not flickering, and can't be clicked. Disabling composition with
the shortcut works around this.

All in all, I'd say the behaviour has improved a bit, as regards the
frequency of crashes; however, losing Dr. Konqi is mildly disappointing.

I have to apologise here for jumping on this patch without having tested
it myself first. I'll try pre-attaching gdb to kwin/plasmashell/konsole
to get backtraces out of them, and a Fedora install in the next days to
see if the crashes are really fixed, at least on my machine, and report
back.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1454172] [NEW] .service files vanished

2015-05-12 Thread Karl-Philipp Richter
Public bug reported:

Some `.service` files in `/lib/systemd/system/` vanished after reboot,
some belong to `apt` packages (e.g. `deluged.service` installed by
`deluged` and `dnsmasq.service` installed by `dnsmasq`, some have been
written by me).

However, even if the write is successful
before 'initctl notify-disk-writeable' gets called, if you look at
log_handle_unflushed()...

 743 log_handle_unflushed (void *parent, Log *log)
 744 {
 745 NihListEntry  *elem;
 746
 747 nih_assert (log);
 748 nih_assert (log-detached == 0);
 749
 750 log_read_watch (log);
 751
 752 if (! log-unflushed-len)
 753 return 1;

So, if the write is successful and log-unflushed-len becomes zero, the
function returns 1 (meaning log does not need to be added to the
unflushed list) and crucially the log is not added to the unflushed
list.

Regarding #16, there shouldn't be a problem in that scenario since when
the log gets added to the unflushed list, it is totally detached from
its parent job. Hence, the job can be destroyed but the log lives on as
an element of the unflushed list. If that job gets recreated, it will
get a new set of log objects associated with it.

Did you manage to get the full log_clear_unflushed() debug output in the
end?

vmagnin, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Could you
please run the following command from a terminal as it will automatically
gather and attach updated debug information to this report:
apport-collect -p xorg 1453812

Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes
button for attaching additional debugging information.

Title:
  Xorg freeze

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Running a freshly-installed 15.04, fully-updated, on an Intel
  NUC5i5RYK (with an up-to-date bios). Connected to three Dell U2415
  monitors, daisy-chained using the DP output.

  As you can see from Xorg.0.log, all three monitors are detected, and
  the framebuffer is set to 5760 x 1200 (3 * 1920 x 1200).

  This problem only manifests itself when connected to more than one
  monitor.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1414930] Re: [Lenovo ThinkPad 2015 models] Buttons of Synaptics trackpad doesn't work

2015-05-12 Thread klinge
I tested trusty 3.16.0-38.52~14.04.1. The buttons work (but I prefere
their behoviour with: modprobe -rv psmouse; modprobe -v psmouse
proto=imps). Graphic issues still exist. So I go back to mainline
kernel.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1447756] Re: segfault in log.c code causes phone reboot loops

2015-05-12 Thread Oliver Grawert
the ureadahead-touch upstart job does definitely not need to log
anything we should add console none to it so it does not attempt
to. (logging there only makes sense when actively debugging ureadahead
anyway)

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1446639] Re: Ubuntu loads configuration incorrectly on high-dpi screen

2015-05-12 Thread Andreas E.
This is happening regularly during the first boot(s) after kernel or
xorg updates. Is it possible it could be related to something like
ureadahead?

--
You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu
Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu.

Title:
  Ubuntu loads configuration incorrectly on high-dpi screen

Status in unity package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  When booting, unity loads the desktop partially with double the
  correct size (default setting: scale factor 2, but it loads as if
  scale factor 4). The launcher, dash, application switcher appear too
  big while the panel and applications themselves have correct size.

  After some seconds the screen turns black, the wallpaper appears 4
  times and then the wallpaper appears at correct size as well as
  launcher, dash, application switcher and panel. However, the desktop
  icons and the window content of gtk3 applications appears too small
  (as with scale factor 1). This is only true for gtk3 applications, not
  gtk2, Wine, XUL, Qt, VCL. Also, unity panel uses incorrect (strong)
  font hinting while font hinting is correct in the rest of the system.
  Unity dash uses partially a fallback sans serif font instead of Ubuntu
  font and incorrect character kerning.

  This is similar as bug #1398208.

  Unless I use SUPPRESS_DEPRECATED_NOTE=yes to completely disable deprecation
warnings, which is not discoverable, the output makes any debugging virtually
impossible.
  I consider it critical because it fundamentally obstructs debugging in any
code that's not using unstable API.

Bug description:
  spawned from efforts in bug 1336715

  because the user's input toggle for airplane mode is both a reflection
  of user intent the state of the backendand the backend is
  unfortunately variable lengthy to change (anywhere from 1 to ~10+
  seconds sometimes) we need to have an intermediate/transition
  statee.g. toggle to airplane mode onthen animate somehow that
  there's a transition happening, until it either fails/succeeds

  comment from dizzypaty

  Between the user’s action of toggling the airplane switcher on and/or
  off and the backend updating the state, the indicator icon displayed
  on the statusbar should be the following: network-idle.svg

(https://drive.google.com/drive/#folders/0BzbnWoHmYF3aZTA4WHNPYW1jeUE/0BzbnWoHmYF3aS2pVejVicktrdm8/0BzbnWoHmYF3ablBITVByRnpzdEk).

  Desired resolution

  Summary: the interface should immediately respond to user input
  confirming the action, even if the backend takes up to 20 seconds to
  actually change state. Having the UI and backend out of sync for up
  to 30 seconds is not a problem, as long as it always goes back into
  sync after this delay.

  1.When the user changes the flight mode toggle switch it should
  instantly change state.

  2.The backend should then be informed of the state change.

  3.Up to 30 seconds later the backend completes the state change

  Note: The cellular connection indicator should always display the
  backend state, not the current flight mode toggle switch state

  Variation - user switches the flight mode toggle on and off rapidly.

  Once a flight mode state change request has been sent to the backend
  but before a conformation that the state change is complete is
  received, all further user interactions should be buffered on the
  client. When the client receives conformation of the state change
  from the backend it should check to see if the state is in sync with
  its buffer. If it is in sync nothing happens and the buffer is
  cleared. If it is not in sync another state change signal is sent to
  the backend and the buffer is cleared.

Bug description:
  [ Description ]

  Facebook messenger and Windows Live messenger don't work any more
  because Facebook Microsoft removed third-party support for them.

  [ Fix  QA ]

  Stop supporting IM accounts for these clients. For both creation
  continued use.

  Verify that if you add a WLM or FB account in online accounts, empathy
  doesn't try to connect to it.

  account-plugins-windows-live shouldn't be pulled in by default any
  more (check a trusty daily which is built with proposed).

  [ Regression potential ]

  This is a regression, in that we stop supporting some account types.
  We don't have a choice about this.

  [ Original description ]

  The march towards a future of silos carries on.

  https://developers.facebook.com/docs/chat - the XMPP gateway for
  Facebook will shut down on April 30.

  http://ismsndeadyet.com/ - Microsoft are removing MSN endpoints.

  I guess we need to correspondingly remove IM support for these
  services  SRU it back.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1454281] [NEW] Ridiculous amount of warning spam with non-1.3 code

2015-05-12 Thread Christian Dywan
Public bug reported:

Using even the most basic code consisting of nothing but a Page in a MainView,
importing anything other than Ubuntu.Componens 1.3, I get a ridiculous amount
of warning spam. Most of the output is redundant and incomplete (Unkonwn
file).
Unless I use SUPPRESS_DEPRECATED_NOTE=yes to completely disable deprecation
warnings, which is not discoverable, the output makes any debugging virtually
impossible.
I consider it critical because it fundamentally obstructs debugging in any code
that's not using unstable API.

Bug description:
  This is a fresh upgrade to raring. During the weekend, I updated from
  precise to quantal, and from there to raring. I did not use sound
  while the system was in quantal, so no idea if the bug was present
  there as well.

  The symptom is:

  * after some period of sound usage, playback stops working

  What I mean with sound usage is:

  I tried having a meeting with: mumble, skype, and google hangout, and
  in all three cases, audio input/outout will work just fine for ~5
  minutes, and the playback just dies (people tell me they keep
  listening to me, so mic works fine).

  The only way to solve this is by rebooting. After one of the reboots,
  I was able to play a 20 minute video with mplayer with no further
  issue. Then opened skype and after ~3-5 minute talk, audio playback
  died again.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1443178] Re: Accounts Service always relies on language fallback if never set by the user

2015-05-12 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
** Description changed:

+ trusty and vivid SRU requests
+ =
+
+ [Impact]
+
+ Until a user has set the language or regional formats explicitly,
+ accountsservice makes the system default values available. The code for
+ 'calculating' the system defaults is expensive, and it's triggered
+ frequently. The case in the original description of this bug report is
+ one example of bad performance for this reason. Another example is a
+ system with many users (see e.g. bug #1350393).
+
+ This upload adds a couple of static variables inside the function in
+ question, to avoid that the expensive code is executed at each
+ invocation. Under certain conditions this improves the performance
+ significantly.
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+ Hmm.. There is no easy use case to reproduce the bug. The original
+ description below gives a hint.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ On a multi-user system, if the system defaults in /etc/default/locale
+ are changed, accountsservice will keep providing the old system default
+ values until the system is rebooted. (Previously it took effect
+ instantly.) I think the advantages with the proposed change outweigh
+ this subtle change in behavior (which hardly anyone will notice anyway).
+
+ Can't think of anything besides that.
+
+ [Original description]
+
  current build number: 169
  device name: mako
  channel: ubuntu-touch/devel-proposed
  alias: ubuntu-touch/vivid-proposed
  last update: 2015-04-12 20:38:14
  version version: 169
  version ubuntu: 20150412
  version device: 20150210
  version custom: 20150412

  This causes a bad side effect when changing volume via indicator-sound,
  as that will cause a sync to accountsservice in order to sync the
  volume. Once that sync happens, it will request the user properties, and
  in case the user doesn't have a valid language at
  /var/lib/AccountsService/users/user, it will always rely on the
  fallback, which would be fine if calculating the fallback wasn't 't so
  cpu or i/o intensive (and that happens multiple times).

  As a test, just flash latest vivid image on mako, don't set any language
  when the wizard shows up, run top and then change the volume by pressing
  volume up/down. This is what I see with mako:

-  PID USER  PR  NIVIRTRESSHR S  %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND

  user_set_property never gets called unless the user changes the system
  language from system-settings or wizard.

  Once you change the language, it will set a valid language at
  /var/lib/AccountsService/users/user, causing this behavior to stop.

  Another bad side effect of this issue is that it takes quite a while for
  accountsservice to reply back to indicator-sound when the sync happens,
  possibly causing sync aborts (as indicator-sound only waits 1 second
  before triggering another sync).

  Some possible ways to fix this issue:
  1) Make wizard to set language even when the selected language is already the

Title:
  Apps should able to share plain-text content as well

Status in Content sharing/picking infrastructure and service:
  Triaged
Status in content-hub package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  There are some cases where apps want to share just simple plain text
  between each others:

   - You want to share the content of a message/note/$any_text to
  facebook/twitter/$any_social/reminder-apps

  This is currently not possible, while for example in $other_platforms
  an application can ask to share some text (a tweet content, a message,
  a note) with another.

  Copy and paste doesn't apply here, because this might be triggered by
  the UI.
